Anyone else getting fed up of the constant headlines regarding Kate's 'recycled' outfits?

So, she's worn an outfit twice, big deal, maybe just like us, she has a favourite outfit she loves wearing. Surely she'd get flamed even more for wearing an outfit once.

Maybe she's just damed if she does and damned if she doesn't, but I say good for her!

I’m fed up with press/people criticising what she, and other women, wear.

Using an outfit more than just once is better for the planet and should not be news worthy.

janetforpresident · 14/05/2019 21:09

I've literally never seen this as a headline. Obviously I am reading the wrong things.

If they are criticising her for wearing the same outfit twice then they are a disgrace. With all the waste there is in the world of course she should wear her outfits more than once!

Lunde · 14/05/2019 21:10

Buy new = criticism
Recycle and wear again = criticism

Can't win!

TrixieFranklin · 14/05/2019 21:10

Fuck me if I had a dress worth £1,750 I'd wear it all day everyday Grin

Kate Middleton visits a D-Day exhibition at Bletchley Park

It's a daily fail link unfortunately Hmm

PennyMordauntsLadyBrain · 14/05/2019 21:18

It only annoys me because when it’s commented on in such a way that it contrasts negatively with Meghan Markle’s choice. Some outlets (I’m looking at you, the DM) are v bitchy about it.

The “recycling” headlines re Kate have definitely increased since MM came on the scene.

YouFellAsleep · 14/05/2019 21:22

Agreed, there is definitely more comparison now Meghan's on the scene, or maybe she's just not been around long enough to wear a recycled outfit. Can't imagine her ever wearing something twice tho!

OP posts:
HotSauceCommittee · 14/05/2019 21:23

If you are fed up, OP, and it’s nit your thing, stop reading shite like the DM and Now magazine and suchlike.
I don’t read tabloids or magazines, so I never see stuff like this.

Laiste · 14/05/2019 21:24

Is there negative press about it?

viques · 14/05/2019 21:25

Wait tip she's recycling outfits from 35 years ago like the Princess Royal.

floraloctopus · 14/05/2019 21:26

Who else thought this thread was going to say she was pregnant again?

RosaWaiting · 14/05/2019 21:26

I don't read this kind of thing but there's a woman at work who likes to read it out loud to us all

Because of our resident Royal announcer, I thought Kate did this generally - and if she does, I'm glad she does.

EdithWeston · 14/05/2019 21:26

Not only has the Duchess of Sussex not been long enough in the Royal family to re-use outfits, she's not exactly been the same size/shape for much of the time since her marriage.

The Princess Royal re-uses outfits pretty frequently too.

Criticism is pretty much just when a journo fancies a pop.

(but I think YABU for not using the topic)

JustTwoMoreSecs · 14/05/2019 21:26

I wonder what happens to all the old outfits? I’d love to get her hand me downs!!!

YouFellAsleep · 14/05/2019 21:28

I'm not fed up and I don't read shite magazines, I just don't see why it needs pointing out whether the outfit has been worn before. Why comment on what a women's wearing at all? Does anyone notice if William or Harry have worn a suit before??

OP posts:
YouFellAsleep · 14/05/2019 21:32

Sorry, new to this posting malarkey, so was unsure where to put it and I don't think it'll be long before she's pregnant again. Then she can recycle all her old maternity frocks

I read this story earlier and I must have missed the point as I thought it was a positive report on re-wearing very expensive clothing.

DianaT1969 · 14/05/2019 21:44

Which newspaper/magazine did you read this in OP?

KissUntilTheyDieOfRabies · 14/05/2019 21:48

I hope they all wear their outfits repeatedly. Unless they're then auctioning them off and giving the entire proceeds to decent (registered) charities.

I've just ordered two more of the same hooded short sleeved very baggy men's t shirt. Because I have one of it and get distressed when it's in the wash.

I would make a very bad royal.

AngeloMysterioso · 14/05/2019 21:49

It makes sense that all MM’s clothes are new. DoC’s got what, 8 years’ worth of taxpayer-bought outfits to choose from? MM’s been married less than a year. I’m sure she’ll start “recycling” soon enough.

Peregrina · 14/05/2019 21:52

Good for her. My clothes from 30 years ago are now too small.

TurquoiseDress · 14/05/2019 21:52

Indeed! I agree, would do the same too Grin
