Toes out at work?

Yes or no?

The men don’t turn up in sandals sans socks. Company dress code only mentions no flip flops.

It’s customer facing.

I can’t decide if IABU or not but I think yuck every time I see someone else’s toes at work.

We wear literally anything to work

SmarmyMrMime · 14/05/2019 21:02

My feet swell in hot weather so enclosed smart shoes are not a viable option for 33oC stuffy, badly ventilated classrooms. I've had afternoons where my feet have swollen beyond the widest settings on my Birkenstocks so they've had to come off at the risk of staple/ pin roulette/ tip of a teenager's chair. If I can't fit a smart enclosed shoe on, I can't get one on.

beeRB · 14/05/2019 21:06

If you asked me 12 months ago I would have said no.

However, I am currently 8 months pregnant and melting in this heat- I need my sandals and couldn't give a crap if it bothers anyone Blush

AuditAngel · 14/05/2019 21:06

I wear sandals, but am normally pedicured. I’m also no longer client facing.

PinkiOcelot · 14/05/2019 21:10

Sandals are a suitable footwear. Nice looked after feet with painted toenails look nice

SummaLuvin · 14/05/2019 21:11

I created a similar thread last year, the sun comes out and suddenly colleagues think its acceptable to inflict their almost bare feet upon you with flip flops and revealing sandals. Grade A grim, regardless of how nice you think your pedicure is....

Pepperdino · 14/05/2019 21:13

Why is it grade A grim?

churchthecat · 14/05/2019 21:14

I don't have pedicures, my feet are just plain feet. So? We've all got them.

I'm in birkenstocks for as much of the year as possible because they're comfy. Why are people so squeamish about normal body parts?

I also don't wear a bra very often

RandomMess · 14/05/2019 21:18

Live in Birkenstock's- find it very difficult to get shoes to fit let alone ones that don't hurt, plus the office is too warm and if my feet get hot I feel 🤮.

Do paint my nails and make an "effort" that they look ok. Work in an office so feet hidden under desk most of the time!

Eustasiavye · 14/05/2019 21:23

Sadly we are not allowed to wear sandals.

MysweetAudrina · 14/05/2019 21:25

Other than H&S or uniform what is the problem with toes? Am I missing something? I wear sandals from May to Sept with painted toes. Never once crossed my mind that my toes could possibly offend someone.
Is it because the foot fetishists might get a boner?

Reasonstobeearful · 14/05/2019 21:28

Birkinstocks look weird in an office.

(Or anywhere really.)

Kittekats · 14/05/2019 21:34

I will go against the grain and say I don’t think toes out looks professional.

YesQueen · 14/05/2019 21:38

Open toes not allowed at my work. I sometimes risk palmairas and my boss gives me side eye Grin

PookieDo · 14/05/2019 21:39

I work in an office not public facing and I think it’s ok in my own case!

randomchap · 14/05/2019 21:58

Several years ago a woman at the office I worked in was wearing sandals and ran over her toes with her chair. She caught her little toe between the castors and broke it.

It's probably a one off freakish accident but it looked excruciatingly painful.

MaMaMaMySharona · 14/05/2019 22:13

To be honest I don’t like toes out in any situation - I really hate feet!

BrokenWing · 14/05/2019 22:20

We are an office environment smart casual, but open toed shoes and heels over 1" are not allowed on safety grounds. Some girls wear slightly higher heels and are ok, they are just trying to avoid stupidly high stilletoes.

Redpostbox · 14/05/2019 22:24

Feet are yucky. I don't want to see other peoples. Or smell them. Down with toes at work!

DrFoxtrot · 14/05/2019 22:27

I don't think it's very professional but in a relaxed environment that's probably ok.

I can't get my head round people that wear flip flops nearly all year round and when it's pissing down outside. Cold and wet feet Confused.

SummaLuvin · 14/05/2019 22:58

A lot of people seem to be commenting that feet are just a normal body part, which I agree with, but there are a lot of normal body parts that should not be exposed at work. Nothing wrong with a stomach or belly button, but would you find crop tops acceptable work attire?

Yubaba · 14/05/2019 23:04

No toes at my work, full shoes only. (HCP)
I wear trainers as I’m on my feet 9 hours a day as do most of my department colleagues, Doc martens are also popular.

origamiunicorn · 14/05/2019 23:07

Who are these people who gross out over naked toes? Anyone would think it's the 15th century and someone flashed an ankle.

Oysterbabe · 14/05/2019 23:07

Fine in my work. Office with no dress code.

Celticrose · 14/05/2019 23:57

At a place where I used to work part of the dress code stated that thongs were not allowedConfused but we then realised that they meant flip flops Owned by an Australian company. Not sure how that would be policed Blush
