Does anyone else get “fixated” on a celebrity?

Does anyone else get weirdly intense crushes on celebrities? I’m not even sure if crush is the right word but I go through phases where I watch everything an actors ever been in, read their interviews, that kind of thing. I’ve used the word fixated in the title because I can’t really think of how to describe it.

At the moment it’s Richard Armitage, it isn’t even a fancying him thing I just really really like him as a person. I’ve watched every interview, downloaded audio books, watched some utterly terrible films just because he’s in them..

Does anyone else do this? My friends never seem to (I don’t really talk about it though) and I was wondering if IABU to ask if other people do this too..? I mean obviously most celebrities have a fan base so it can’t be that unusual. I just feel a bit odd, like nobody else does this. It’s happens a few times a year with different people, I’m very fickle Grin

Berlin’s meant to be fantastic, it’s definitley on my list of places to go. Berlin Station does film it well, I’ll give it that.

I think everybody goes through a Richard Armitage stage!

Many an hour(s) spent on You Tube playing pivotal scenes on repeat from North and South ("look back at me, look back at me...") and the murderous Guy of Gisborne in Robin Hood series, all creaking leather, eyeliner and shirt off scenes.

Never fancied him outside of roles though.

Don't fancy anybody anymore, they are all just blokes! (Did get a mild twinge for Fleabag priest but it did not last long. I saw him interviewed a few times, nice guy but not fanciable to me once seen!)

Pepperdino · 14/05/2019 16:06

Richard Armitage certainly does seem to be one of those actors that inspires devotion. He's perfect in North and South but I'm not fussed over him otherwise. If I suspect someone's gay I just can't have a celeb crush on them. I keep hearing a voice in my head saying 'oh no, he wouldn't enjoy you doing that to him, you know'. I like to think I have at least a 0.001% chance of my celeb crushes being realised in real life rather than a 0.0% Grin

Tom Hiddleston also inspires crazy devotion. Don't get that one AT ALL.

Crazycatlady10 · 14/05/2019 16:11

If they ever take north and south off Netflix I’m cancelling my subscription. “I don’t want to possess you, I wish to marry you because I love you!” Gets me every bloody time.

He is a really fantastic actor. I thought after the hobbit he’d do bigger projects but he seems to be kind of stuck? Ocean’s 8 is the biggest film he’s done and even that wasn’t a particularly big part (though I love him in it, I love when he uses his own accent).

What’s Tom hiddlestone actually been ok aside from marvel? I only really know him from that and the Taylor swift debacle. Oh and night manager.

In, not ok!

I can’t fancy Andrew Scott, he does the voice over for the CBeebies show School Of Roars so it feels dirty 😂

Nothing. He's a bit of a two-trick pony, old Tom.

I have North and South on DVD .

He moved to the US (to Lee's?) to try and get better work, I think. But I reckon he's quite intense and cantankerous to work with. He was awesome in The Crucible, made for the role!

Crazycatlady10 · 14/05/2019 16:21

I have the dvd too, Netflix is all in one place though 😂 Yes he seems like a perfectionist and obsessed with his work. Quite funny watching Robin Hood interviews because he clearly knows it’s a pile of shite, especially in the third season

Tom is lovely as Loki but my researches into Tom (which I may have momentarily indulged in) aren't favourable in general.

Noooo. I'm fighting the urge to go research, rather than just watching everything he's in.

Luckily I'm indulging an old obsession atm, really not ready to move on half way through a book and a quarter of the way through a long series of podcasts...

David Tennant. I’ve fancied him almost as long as I’ve been with my husband Blush
I also have crushes on Colin Morgan and Dylan O Brien.
Used to have a mahoosive crush on Will Smith until I found out he was a Scientologist, then it just died.

Will Smith until I found out he was a Scientologist, then it just died.

Shock

Never knew that. I'm very disappointed.

Crazycatlady10 · 14/05/2019 18:02

I didn’t either. Maybe that’s why he looks so young. Aliens.

I'm another one who loves Kylo Ren (not that bothered about the actor, just the character). Dh couldn't work out why I was so keen to go see the new Star Wars films when I had always told him once was enough in regards to the old ones.

I think anyone who’s a Scientologist is instantly not cool. But such an interesting subject to research (actual research, unlike me just googling pics of Richard Armitage)
