What a great week for football.
Loved the games this week.

But its a long time since the title went down to the wire like this. Even the miricle year leicester won theg won by 10 points, last year CIty ran away with it.

When was the last time it went down to the last natch like this? Blackburn and man u in 1995?

I'm a wolves fan and we're playing liverpool but i'm desparate for liverpool to win the title. I really dislike city. I of course always want the gold and black army to win but i'm almost happier if we lose today.

It's all a bit soulless and empty with them.

Those sour grapes will cause belly ache!

JacquesHammer · 12/05/2019 17:38

I think you have a different definition of "blow something" to everyone else

So you don’t think Liverpool blew this season with the players they’ve got? I think Man Utd and Chelsea did too.

Teams with that amount of calibre winning nothing must me massively disappointing. At least it would be for me!

Maybe Liverpool will win the CL - but I feel they’re in a more pressured position.

Myothercarisalsoshit · 12/05/2019 17:39

Patrochius City had a huge following even in the 2nd division.

JacquesHammer · 12/05/2019 17:40

This has been a fab thread though, and there’s still a few weeks to go. Smile

Sakura7 · 12/05/2019 17:41

No - look at the players City have got, the ones who scored 100 points last season and were massive favourites going into this season. If anything, Liverpool have exceeded expectations by pushing them as hard as they did.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 12/05/2019 17:41

×JacquesHammer*nope wouldn't say blown this season so much. We somehow finished 3rd. We've been so poor and yet somehow in the Champions league. Best of a bad bunch really lol.

They finally lifted the trophy. That took a while!

myrtleWilson · 12/05/2019 17:43

But that means every year by your definition a goodly number of teams "blow" the league.. which doesn't make sense. Presumably MCFC blew the UCL then?

InspectorClouseauMNdivision · 12/05/2019 17:47

@JacquesHammer There is just 1 title so obviously only 1 team will win, doesn't mean others automatically "blew it". It's a shame Liverpool didn't, but it's 1 point difference. 1! And that's a GREAT achievement. And they lost just once.

TruffleShuffles · 12/05/2019 17:47

Weren’t Liverpool 8 or 9 points ahead of Man City at one point? Surely that would suggest they did blow the league.

Anyway another wolves fan here and I can’t stand Liverpool so well done Man City. Also annoyed I have to support Spurs in the CL final but even so it’s fantastic we have an all English final.

Sakura7 · 12/05/2019 17:52

They were seven points ahead at New Years, and City beat them to reduce it to four. That's the only match Liverpool lost all season.

NameChangeNugget · 12/05/2019 18:14

Liverpool had the chance to go 10 points clear didn’t they?

Think that’s why there is a perception that they blew it.

myrtleWilson · 12/05/2019 18:22

Man City dropped 13 points against the other 19 clubs
Liverpool dropped 12 points against the other 19 clubs

It was the game at the Ethiad that was decisive.

Whichever of them came second could not be characterised as blowing the league.

hartof · 12/05/2019 19:39

Yeah, city are awful 😴😴😴 bore off. Mancunian born and bred not a load of prawn sandwich brigade.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 12/05/2019 20:04

Who said any one liked united??????? It is possiable to dislike both of them.

So you don’t think Liverpool blew this season with the players they’ve got?

No ones blew anything this year. Man city have kompany, et al.

Which ever club came second they accumilated the most points ever got by a team that didn't win the title. In any other year apart from last year liverpool would have one the title they got 97 points!!! 97 points!! In any other year apart from last year when city broke the record with 100, they would have won the league with 97 points and by long way how any one a club that has 97 points blew away anything is beyond me

InspectorClouseauMNdivision · 12/05/2019 20:45

I think LFC is the only club in European big leagues not to win even though they lost just 1 game. 😮

Sakura7 · 12/05/2019 22:54

It's so very Liverpool to rack up 97 points and still not win it. Still gutted but just have to hope it sets us up well for next season. It's not a foregone conclusion that City will win 3 in a row.

ilovesooty · 13/05/2019 00:58

As a lifelong City fan I'm delighted by today but Liverpool pushed us all the way in those last few weeks. It's been an incredible season and I feel privileged to have been in the ground when Kompany scored last Monday.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 13/05/2019 01:21

Norwich are going up, so that's me chuffed. Dischuffed next year, when they fall out again. Never a dull moment.

stopgap · 13/05/2019 01:32

Hats off to Man City. Liverpool fan here since I was a kid, and am so proud of the team’s performance this year, which will hopefully result in them winning the CL.

I live in the US now, and watched Liverpool play Man City on their US tour, and out of the crowd of 60,000, a solid eighty percent were Liverpool fans.

araiwa · 13/05/2019 04:56

One of the worst last days in recent history. Absolutely nowhere near being one of the best at all.

Only thing on the line was the title which was wrapped up when city scored their third. Lots of pregame nerves for sure but the actual match wasnt that exciting.

Plus aguuueeerrrrooo was only a few years back which was second best last day in history only beaten by arsenal beating liverpool at anfield by 2 goals to snatch the league from liverpool

MeMyselfAndEyes · 13/05/2019 06:31

Remember Man City and Stoke being in the same division a few years ago, then City became soulless with the UAE investment. How times change when you compare those two over recent times.

Zoflorabore · 13/05/2019 06:42

Everton fan here and though I'm neither bitter or sad, I'm over the bloody moon too. That's now it tends to work in this city!!

Ds(16) went to Spurs yesterday and he said the atmosphere was electric, many fans had one eye on the game and the other on their phone looking at the results at the Liverpool and Man City games.

Not one Everton fan I know wanted Liverpool to win the league. That's rivalry for you and in a big city like this it's absolutely massive. Just watch any Derby and it's like life or death to many fans.

So yes- congrats to our nearest city's blue side! The memes have been doing the rounds on social media and the funny thing for Everton fans is that they drew at Goodison Park earlier this season which meant the difference between 1 and 3 points. Everton will play on that statistic for sure Grin
