AIBU to ask for a high impact sports bra that actually works

I want to get fit. I’m fat and it’s getting me down. I currently only have one sports bra and the place that I got it from has turned crap in that their ‘high support’ is no longer high support. Other sports bras leave me with side boob. I’ve looked on the normal Adidas / Nike etc and when you read reviews a lot of them say that it’s no good for running but normal training. Some sites seem to have some decent ones but they’re £60 upwards! AIBU to want a decently priced, keep everything in place so I don’t end up with painful boobs or black eyes sports bras?! Where do you all get yours from?

Shock absorbers are pretty good. Pricey, but worth it.

Londonmummy66 · 12/05/2019 12:05

Freya - its underwired but really keeps mine in place. Also, unlike Shock Absorber and M&S they use decent hooks and eyes that last....

Ninkaninus · 12/05/2019 12:07

Mine from Shock Absorber have always lasted well! Maybe I’ve been lucky...

alwaysreadthelabel · 12/05/2019 12:08

Shock absorber for me. Worth the money and no bounce at all.

hippopootamus · 12/05/2019 12:10

Me and my FF boobs have run marathons in Shock Absorbers. No bounce, no pain!

JaceLancs · 12/05/2019 12:12

Freya

Dotty1970 · 12/05/2019 12:15

M&S extra strong... That's not the description but it's the most supportive one! Sorry.
But it's fantastic the v best I've ever had and I'm huge.

BloodyWorried · 12/05/2019 12:21

Shock absorber here too, often cheaper on Amazon but perhaps go try them on somewhere first as size wise I often need bigger than my day-to-day wear bras.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 12/05/2019 12:23

Have a look on the website boobydoo... Stupid name great bras.

I found Panache was best for me, Shefit isn't bad either. Both we're better than ShockAbsorber for me.

They have a test you can take to narrow down your options.

eightoclock · 12/05/2019 12:31

I like the m and s high impact ones. You have to get the right size though, it is not possible to squeeze into a smaller size as they are not stretchy. Better to get one that's slightly too big if anything.

StrongTeaDropOfMilkNoSugar · 12/05/2019 12:34

Another recommendation for Shock absorber here. Brilliant for running.

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/05/2019 12:51

The best sports bras are by Australian brands. Have a look on Brand Alley as they sometimes stock Berlei, which is great. No bouncing at all and underwired so no uniboob look.

wellballstoyou · 12/05/2019 12:53

ultimate run by shock absorber

AuntieStella · 12/05/2019 13:17

Before I lost the weight, I had the Panache underwired (look online for previous season's colours, much cheaper). I found their sizing runs true.

Now it's Shock Absorber. Their sizing is a bit weird but appears consistent across the brand). I need to go up one in the band, and down one in the cup. So if you want to try one, either go to a shop to try on, or use somewhere with a good returns policy, like Wiggle.

magoria · 12/05/2019 13:37

Have a look at enell. Not the cheapest but good.

dirtystinkyrats · 12/05/2019 13:38

Freya underwired ones. I have a Shockabsorber as well but nowhere near as good and gives you a strange monoboob which then means not all clothes fit very well.

PregnantSea · 12/05/2019 13:39

Another one recommending shock absorber.

My boobs are 32GG and I run long distance. You can imagine the level of support I require lol. Shock absorber will see you right :)

pinegreen · 12/05/2019 13:45

Another vote for Shock Absorber Ultimate Run Bra. Never had any problems with the hook & eye clasps. I have 4 of them that I wash and wear every week for my 4 HIIT classes. I even stick them in the tumble dryer. I do use a delicates bag for them.

It was also my bra of choice for London marathon a few years ago.

If you’re not fussy on colour they can be really cheap on Amazon once you know your size.

m0therofdragons · 12/05/2019 13:48

I wear a normal bra with a sports bra over the top of my 34EE boobs. It's the only thing that stops them hurting after a run.

EZA15 · 12/05/2019 13:50

Thank you everyone! I knew I pulsing be let down posting here! I’ll be checking all the suggested sites / bras out. For those who have suggested shock absorber and Panache, is there a particular shop that sells them or is it all online?

Dippypippy1980 · 12/05/2019 13:55

I just bought one from next - zip at the front. Keeps coming down - bloody stupid design

Neron · 12/05/2019 13:58

I buy panache direct from them, but have a look at lingerieoutlet as they sell all brands on there at good prices

marvik · 12/05/2019 13:58

Another vote for Freya... (32G cup)

ChodeofChodeHall · 12/05/2019 14:00

Another vote for Panache! I'm a not-particularly-firm 30G and it's the only sports bra I've ever worn that really works.

Strokethefurrywall · 12/05/2019 14:04

Enell are also excellent - I use one and also shock absorbers.

Enell was featured on Oprah as she uses them.
