About dispute with neighbours

We don't get on well at all with our neighbours. We usually ignore them however today they really annoyed me so my partner went to talk to them. The male in the couple was throwing small amounts of water out of his window onto his parking space, unfortunately he wasn't being that careful and some of the water ran onto our parking space too. Luckily it missed my car. My partner then went into my garage (the neighbours live in a flat above our garage) and the neighbour continued throwing the water out despite the fact he must have known my partner was out there.

My partner then knocked on their door several times. I was watching and I will admit he did knock pretty hard but I think it was understandable that he was angry given he could have got water chucked on him.

The neighbours didn't answer so we left it but am not sure what to do now. My partner wants to knock again but I want to call the police as it might possibly count as an attempted assault. I know that sounds a bit extreme but I've had to call them before when my daughters saw my neighbour looking up at them in their in the bedroom so it indicates a pattern of harassment. WIBU to call the police or should I let my partner knock on their door tomorrow?

What on earth is the problem with water near your car?

Devonishome1 · 11/05/2019 23:30

🙄

Copperandtod · 11/05/2019 23:31

Why was your husband knocking at their door?

bluebeck · 11/05/2019 23:31

1.Why?

  1. So what?
  1. Is your car made of paper?
Bambamber · 11/05/2019 23:32

You sound batshit

Heratnumber7 · 11/05/2019 23:32

It's water. A bit like rain. It's really not going to hurt your parking space, nor your car.

Get over yourself.

jenniferl1983 · 11/05/2019 23:32

LEDadjacent - if it was any other neighbour I wouldn't care but I think it was deliberate to upset us. Why not pour the water down the sink? and why throw it when people are around?

OP posts:
HBStowe · 11/05/2019 23:32

Why would you care if small amounts of water were thrown on your car?

The police absolutely won’t give a shit, and to be honest I wouldn’t bother going and knocking either, since absolutely nothing has actually happened. I don’t think you can reasonably claim that ‘he threw some water into his driveway while my partner was in the vicinity’ is an attempted assault...

FlyingMonkeys · 11/05/2019 23:33

I think the police would class it as time wasting not assault. Nothing actually happened and your partner didn't get wet or your car. I'd be careful as neighbour disputes can really bugger up selling property if you want to move in the future.

CalmdownJanet · 11/05/2019 23:33

Thank fuck he missed the car with the water! I shudder to think what would have happened had he not missed Shock

Confused
dementedpixie · 11/05/2019 23:33

The water wouldn't hurt your car

jenniferl1983 · 11/05/2019 23:33

Copperandtod - because it was him that nearly got wet. They should be told to be more careful.

OP posts:
RiftGibbon · 11/05/2019 23:34

Is your car made of biscuits? Why would water be a problem?

CalmdownJanet · 11/05/2019 23:34

But yes you should definitely call the guards and report him for assault and come back and tell us how hard they laugh

FreshAprilStart · 11/05/2019 23:35

Eh? What?

You also contacted the police before as a neighbour looked at a window?

WHAT?

HBStowe · 11/05/2019 23:35

Tbh your husband sounds like the nightmare neighbour in this scenario. Angrily banging on someone’s door because there was a possibility they could have spilled water on you is frightening and mad behaviour.

Copperandtod · 11/05/2019 23:35

But he didn’t get wet. He could have just shouted towards the window “hey watch it be careful” no?

RattyTat · 11/05/2019 23:35

Unless you've somehow confused your car/husband with the Wicked Witch of the West. YABU

Oldbutstillgotit · 11/05/2019 23:36

I have had a few glasses of wine so maybe not 100% functioning but what exactly is the issue here ??

CalmdownJanet · 11/05/2019 23:37

Is your car made of biscuits 😂

SilviaSalmon · 11/05/2019 23:37

You called the police because your neighbour looked at your daughters’ window? You are thinking of calling them because your DP could have (but didn’t) have water drip on him?

You realise it is potentially an offence to waste police time?

bluebeck · 11/05/2019 23:38

You sound a little unhinged OP.

Or is this a wind up?

Nikhedonia · 11/05/2019 23:38

GrinGrinGrin

Good one, OP.

jenniferl1983 · 11/05/2019 23:39

FreshAprilStart - the neighbour was working on his car and kept looking up at my girls bedroom window and told them to go away as he thought they were laughing at him. They were playing at a vanity at the window and were not looking at him.

OP posts:
PatricksRum · 11/05/2019 23:39

You called the police because they were looking Hmm
What did the police do? Tell them to look the other way?
Are you for real?
