About dispute with neighbours

We don't get on well at all with our neighbours. We usually ignore them however today they really annoyed me so my partner went to talk to them. The male in the couple was throwing small amounts of water out of his window onto his parking space, unfortunately he wasn't being that careful and some of the water ran onto our parking space too. Luckily it missed my car. My partner then went into my garage (the neighbours live in a flat above our garage) and the neighbour continued throwing the water out despite the fact he must have known my partner was out there.

My partner then knocked on their door several times. I was watching and I will admit he did knock pretty hard but I think it was understandable that he was angry given he could have got water chucked on him.

The neighbours didn't answer so we left it but am not sure what to do now. My partner wants to knock again but I want to call the police as it might possibly count as an attempted assault. I know that sounds a bit extreme but I've had to call them before when my daughters saw my neighbour looking up at them in their in the bedroom so it indicates a pattern of harassment. WIBU to call the police or should I let my partner knock on their door tomorrow?

What happens if a little bit of water gets on your car? Is your car a Gremlin?

Wowserme · 12/05/2019 00:13

WTF... I’d want to use a hose pipe on the pair of you... 🙄

Kidsteacherisfit · 12/05/2019 00:14

Move the kids mirror away from the water pouring pervert immediately 😁

tor8181 · 12/05/2019 00:14

got to be made up

bloody hell some people got to much time on their hands

specterlitt · 12/05/2019 00:14

The police probably asked him what happened and just entertained your crazy. They're very good at knowing who is a nuisance and who isn't. Furthermore you keep changing your story, there's NO reason for this man to tell your daughter's not to stare at him if they weren't. Also, if they weren't staring at him how would they feel so frightened when he asked them to stop? Clearly they would have been looking at him, which is why he spoke.

Please for the love of all that is right in this world, take your precious feelings and overreacting to a remote island where there are no other humans and feel free to get annoyed by nature instead. Thanks.

Bethany1990 · 12/05/2019 00:16

I'm sorry to offend u in anyway but it's yous that sound like the neighbors from hell its water 💦 what on earth you do if it rains

Kidsteacherisfit · 12/05/2019 00:16

Amen specter

WithAllIntenseAndPurposes · 12/05/2019 00:16

Cheers, car's crying now

specterlitt · 12/05/2019 00:16

@tor8181 I began to assume the same, so I checked the OP out and it seems this may be legit. OP has a tendency to get annoyed over ridiculous things, she wanted to end a friendship because the person did not offer her a lift. So let that sink in.

TheFairyCaravan · 12/05/2019 00:16

Just as well your neighbour was considerate enough to secure his bins in the storm OP because your husband would have probably put his door in had it have damaged your car, judging by his behaviour today.

You need to get a grip of yourself. I have been harassed by neighbours, it involved pictures being taken of my kids, fireworks being put through my letterbox, my house being egged, my washing being sprayed with a hosepipe and a hell of a lot more. A bit of water almost touching your car is nothing.

jenniferl1983 · 12/05/2019 00:17

They live in a flat with their garage, mine and 2 other neighbours below it. From Googling it seems its a coach house.

being a long term and prolific poster on MN doesn't make you genuine to be fair, but there are worst real life cases, so it's very possible.

londonsfirst · 12/05/2019 00:18

You are aware that sometimes when the police tell a member of the public that they will "speak to him about it" what they actually mean is they will get his side of the story and having established that the complainant was being vexatious will roll their eyes a great deal, advise him to keep out of your way as much as possible for his own sake, and agree with him that his self-important neighbours are off their tiny rockers, aren't you?

jenniferl1983 · 12/05/2019 00:20

I'll get accused of drip feeding now but my bin was only where it was because my neighbour complained about where it originally was. I originally kept it on my parking space but he said he could smell my bin when his bathroom window was open???? I moved it next to my back garden gate. If it had stayed in the original place it wouldn't have damaged his car.

I think you've been accused of a lot worse on here already, @jenniferl1983

Guavaf1sh · 12/05/2019 00:22

The police will have told him that they have asked you to be reasonable. They are there to appease.

PatricksRum · 12/05/2019 00:25

Why didn't they just move away from the window?

ItsAHardKn0ckLife1 · 12/05/2019 00:28

Yep...batshit. BATSHIT.

Bat-shit.

TheLoneWolfDies · 12/05/2019 00:28

I see you both got your licence op? I suppose begrudging people who don't offer lifts got too much in the end

specterlitt · 12/05/2019 00:28

@Amber0685 Haha, ugh I'm so invested in this thread I just cannot figure out if this OP is legit or not! I have a feeling she may be because I know the world is not without over-reactors and those who get offended over everything and anything.
