It's sweet. It's like having your burger in a Belgium bun.

I would normally agree, only exception being Morrisons beetroot brioche buns. I don't think they are a true brioche but they are absolutely the best burger buns.

Bluntness100 · 10/05/2019 19:16

Oh yes love it. I'd usually have a naked burger as I eat low carb, but if I'm going to have a burger in a bun, then it's got to be brioche. Totally worth it.

mrsm43s · 10/05/2019 19:17

I don't think brioche burger buns are the same as the brioche that you eat for breakfast - much, much less sweet.

I like them well enough, and I think they are lighter and less stodgy than regular burger buns, leading to a better burger to bread ratio.

ZippyBungleandGeorge · 10/05/2019 19:18

Burger, brioche bun, strong blue cheese, caramelised onion relish of some kind, little gem lettuce. Sweet and savoury sensation. Yum.

Curlybrunette · 10/05/2019 19:18

I agree, brioches' should just get the flip away from my burger.

Also....Croissants with cheese in the middle...WTAF

SarahTancredi · 10/05/2019 19:19

Yanbu

But then I dont get the brioche craze at all.

Overly sweet , plasticy/processed tasting nonsense.

Id rather go without all together

FredaFox · 10/05/2019 19:20

Brioche buns are so good. Pretzel buns however 🤢

IWannaSeeHowItEnds · 10/05/2019 19:20

An Aldi brioche bun is lovely with a burger. You lot are missing out on a thing of beauty!

LimeKiwi · 10/05/2019 19:22

I don;t get the obsession with them, they're way too sweet! Definitely wrong with burgers.
They're usually full of egg too which I can't eat due to allergies/intolerances so get highly pissed off when I fancy a burger and the damn things only come in bloody brioche!
lol

zinger · 10/05/2019 19:24

I thought the same until I accidentally tried, I'm never going back!!! It was the Aldi ones.

WeeMadArthur · 10/05/2019 19:24

They are horrible with burgers. Too sweet, and they fall apart, just no!

Bobbiebrows · 10/05/2019 19:28

YANBU. They’re vile.

Yabbers · 10/05/2019 19:29

Yes. Yes. YES. Thank goodness someone else said so. I’ve been saying this for years.

Tryingandfailing · 10/05/2019 19:31

What is wrong with combining sweet with salty/ savoury? Makes a brilliant flavour contrast!

Other examples:
Pancakes with bacon and maple syrup
Roast Turkey with cranberry sauce
Roast pork with apple sauce
Roast duck with plum sauce
Burgers with tomato ketchup up... or any chutney!
Mozzarella with Parma ham and figs
Cheddar and chutney
Stilton and pear
Roasted Mediterranean veg with fish

I could go on and on and on.

Brioche buns aren't mega sweet anyway. They're very light and rich. They're not the same as brioche with chocolate or icing on!

HermioneWeasley · 10/05/2019 19:32

Agree, it’s bloody awful. Classic sesame seed bun for me

dairymilkmonster · 10/05/2019 19:32

totall agree

pinkboa · 10/05/2019 19:32

You're clearly not having the right sauces or toppings to complement that burger...

RumpledOfTheBailey · 10/05/2019 19:32

Brioche bacon rolls are surprisingly nice though ....

gamerwidow · 10/05/2019 19:33

I like it, but I like combinations of sweet and savoury like brie and cranberry sauce or pork and apple.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 10/05/2019 19:33

Totally agree. If I fancy a burger out now I have to check it's not a brioche bun before ordering.

Even worse witn hot dogs.

Ellie56 · 10/05/2019 19:38

Brioche bread does not go with anything. Not even itself. Bleurgh!

MaybeitsMaybelline · 10/05/2019 19:40

I buy these, my family like them. And they make really pretty plate. I agree though I wouldn’t eat one, but I wouldn’t eat a burger either.

Al2O3 · 10/05/2019 19:46

The following rules apply;

Belgian bun, raisins, icing and cherry - OK

Brioche bun with a lamb burger - OK

Brioche bun with a beef burger - not OK

SpamChaudFroid · 10/05/2019 19:48

How can you say that?! Shock

How about chicken waffles and maple syrup then? Envy I feel that chicken is not a meat that lends itself well to the savoury/sweet combos.

SheSnapsThenSheFarts · 10/05/2019 19:50

I love brioche burger buns, therefore you are wrong. Sorry.
