Aibu to think it's a ridiculous method.

If you dont have a bath or a shower where else would you wash your hair. I grew up in the 50,s in a big family, a bath once a week , shared water. Every day strip was at the sink and twice a week hair wash at the sink. Not difficult and not ridiculous. When you are used to doing it its as simple as brushing your teeth. Not sure what your point is. It also saves water.

my2bundles · 07/05/2019 14:16

Saves water

AryaStarkWolf · 07/05/2019 14:16

No I wash it in the shower but I wouldn't say it's ridiculous either, why?

Chouetted · 07/05/2019 14:17

The shampoo never goes in my eyes and I can rinse my hair by just dunking my head in the sink.

I loathe having wet hair in the shower - it goes everywhere and clogs up the drain.

Antigon · 07/05/2019 14:21

I wash my hair by standing by the bath and bending into it sometimes. I then wrap my hair in a towel wrap and hop into the shower.

happyhillock · 07/05/2019 14:21

I take my shower head down and wash my hair over the bath, i hate the shampoo going in my eyes been doing that for year's, a lot of people prefer to wash their hair over bath or sink, nothing silly about it, my daughter has long hair and prefers to wash it over the bath

Cath2907 · 07/05/2019 14:23

I currently have no boiler so I am boiling a kettle, mixing hot and cold and then washing my hair over the bath. I then take the rest of my warm water into the shower cubicle with a flannel and wash my bits and pits. It isn't perfect but it is currently keeping me clean.

CurtainsOpen · 07/05/2019 14:26

I do it bent over the bath.

Sometimes wash my hair that way too.

toucantoo · 07/05/2019 14:30

I can't quite believe what I'm reading. Someone washes their hair over the bath and then gets in the shower???? People wash in sinks because they don't have a bath or shower in the house? Where do you live? A cave? People are so weird.

MatchSetPoint · 07/05/2019 14:32

No, my Mum use to wash hers in the skin I’d forgotten about the until now, fond memories sitting and chatting to her before heartbeat came on, on a Sunday.

OldAndWornOut · 07/05/2019 14:34

So I've heard, (from a friend, you understand?) 'Strip washers' often wash their hair in the sink.

mylittlenugget · 07/05/2019 14:35

I know someone too big to get in the shower/bath so has to wash in the sink

Tighnabruaich · 07/05/2019 14:41

I feel I can control the flow of water and not get shampoo etc in my eyes if I bend over the sink. I'm quite short and husband is tall, and I can't be bothered lowering the shower head every time and then putting it back up to his height.

Antigon · 07/05/2019 14:44

Yes, I do wash my hair over the bath. I live in a hi spec new build house, thanks. What's it to you anyway?

Antigon · 07/05/2019 14:44

Weirdo.

Livedandlearned · 07/05/2019 14:47

I used to do this a lot, it's fine, and quicker if I just needed to wash my hair

Magmatic80 · 07/05/2019 14:48

When my landlord didn’t get the hot water fixed for a month and I didn’t fancy showering in cold water I had to boil the kettle and do it over the sink. Not sure why it matters?

dementedpixie · 07/05/2019 14:50

We had no shower at home when I was a child so often washed hair under the kitchen mixer tap. My mum still does it to this day as she can't get in the bath

lilabet2 · 07/05/2019 14:51

I imagine the majority of people wash their hair in the shower/bath.

I'm not sure it's a great idea to wash your hair in the sink to avoid showering really but if you just hate getting shampoo into your eyes or cannot afford the water/electricity then it makes sense I guess.

Funkyslippers · 07/05/2019 14:53

Each to their own but I never get shampoo in my eyes if I wash my hair in the bath or shower. Am I missing something?

CheshireChat · 07/05/2019 14:58

My back aches just thinking about it, not sure if I'd be able to actually do it, however I've got long hair and a tiny sink. Isn't the angle really uncomfy though?

purplecorkheart · 07/05/2019 15:03

I rarely do and when I do it is because I am doing it very early in the morning and our shower would wake the living dead.

Wellthatwastricky · 07/05/2019 15:04

I don't really do it now, but growing up we had no shower so I had to either wash my hair over the bath or sink.

I have extremely curly hair and the upside down aspect in the sink gives my curls loads more volume from the roots and my hair looks better. When I wash it under a powerful shower it sort of flattens the hair to my scalp (obviously I can tip it backwards under a shower head too but that seems to get a lot of water and soap in my eyes).

Redglitter · 07/05/2019 15:11

No it's not a ridiculous method.

I have several health issues & sometimes it takes me all my time to stand in the shower long enough to wash.

I can sit on the loo & wash my hair over the bath if I'm struggling. Necessity rather than choice

userxx · 07/05/2019 15:14

My back is in pieces if I try to wash my hair over the bath.
