Aibu to think it's a ridiculous method.

Bluntness100, why wash what isn’t dirty?

Rhinosaurus · 07/05/2019 19:58

I remember using this contraption in the kitchen sink, was always either boiling hot or freezing cold water Grin

What happens when you want to use a deep conditioning treatment, do you get on the shower twice?
If Im using a hair pack I rinse it off in the sink.
It's ridiculous to think that it's ridiculous

angelikacpickles · 07/05/2019 20:16

I'm baffled at people saying they wash hair in the sink to avoid getting shampoo in their eyes in the shower! Surely you just tilt your head back and the shampoo goes down the back of your head?!?

Almostfifty · 07/05/2019 20:24

Exactly angelikacpickles!

Banhaha · 07/05/2019 20:37

How does this work? I'm trying to cut down on showers so this might help. Do you lean back and get your head in a sink full of water? I can't work it out. If I dangle my hair in leaning forwards then the back won't get done? I don't think I can get under the taps in the bathroom.

Justbreathing · 07/05/2019 20:38

@Sweetpea55
I do it in the bath! I mean that’s logical

Justbreathing · 07/05/2019 20:39

@Sweetpea55
If I didn’t have a bath

I would put it on. And go watch telly. Till I needed a shower to rinse it off

Applesbananaspears · 07/05/2019 20:45

I often do as I can’t be bothered to shower in the evening like to shower in the morning and it’s a big rush if I wash my hair so I often do it over the sink in the evening and get it all nice and dry so I can have a quick shower in the morning.

toucantoo · 07/05/2019 20:45

MuddlingMackem no, seriously, EVERYONE is dirty enough to need to shower daily. You may live with the deluded belief that you don't, but you do. Arm pits, bottoms and front bottoms, feet and faces need cleaning daily. I'm feeling ill at the thought of people not washing daily.

Louiselouie0890 · 07/05/2019 21:02

I only wash my fringe in the sink

Chouetted · 07/05/2019 21:28

@bahaha You fill the sink with water, lean forward over it, and use some sort of cup or container to pour the water over your head.

I tend to dunk my head in the sink and do the back with something that was actually designed for parents to use on small children - the head actually doesn't grow that much after the first couple years of life. But you can use anything you have in the house!

There is an advantage for me, as I find the bit of my hair at the nape of my neck is the grossest sweatiest part. It's a lot easier to get it properly clean while leaning forward than it is standing up in a shower.

managedmis · 07/05/2019 21:32

What's with all these shower threads recently?

Do we have a shower troll?

MitziK · 07/05/2019 21:38

The water comes out under greater pressure than upstairs in the shower, so it gets wet and rinsed more quickly.

lazylinguist · 07/05/2019 21:46

Weird. I shower every day and wash my hair in the shower. If I didn't need to shower/wash my hair every day, I'd do the same but every other day. If I didn't have a shower, I'd wash my hair while in the bath (however often I needed to). I can't imagine why I'd want to wash it in the sink.

Thatsnotmyotter · 07/05/2019 21:56

Our hot water pump is currently out of action. Turns out I can have a very decent hair and full body wash using less than 2 litres of water in a flexi tub. Tbh I might give up daily showers even when the pump is fixed.

selavy · 07/05/2019 22:09

Washing your hair in the sink? This one will definitely go in the list of things you only see on Mumsnet Confused

Carpetburns · 07/05/2019 22:10

None of these shampoo-related issues ever occurred to me. I wash my hair in the shower like most people(or so I thought...)

Loyaultemelie · 07/05/2019 22:28

I have a broken knee (and complications) and can't get upstairs for the bath or shower. I must admit I think my hair is in better condition by doing it over the seat

BackforGood · 07/05/2019 23:24

Aibu to think it's a ridiculous method.

Yes, YABU

Bridiehouse · 07/05/2019 23:33

If I go for a run in the morning then I have a shower without washing my hair because my hair looks awful if I wash it in the morning and it takes a while to style. If I’ve done that I then wash my hair in the sink at night because I just don’t need to wash my body again on the same day Smile

cheesenpickles · 07/05/2019 23:34

I'm so much quicker and our shower was plumbed in for my super tall dh. If I try and use the attachment it hangs and flails spraying water everywhere.

Bridiehouse · 07/05/2019 23:35

@Rhinosaurus my granny had one of those Grin love it!

merrymouse · 07/05/2019 23:41

Same reason I don’t wash my hair in the shower at the hairdresser’s - because I want to wash/treat/colour my hair without getting wet.

I would use bath shower attachment now, but houses still exist in the UK without mixer taps or attachments - sometimes its easer to use the sink.

Hylobates · 07/05/2019 23:52

I'm another sink washer - wash hair in sink, stick conditioner on, turban over that then full shower after half hour or so. This world is full of injustice, perhaps get wound up about that rather than the inconsequential matter of where people choose to wash their hair.
