Aibu to think it's a ridiculous method.

I wash mine over the bath and then get in the shower, always have done.

Schnitzelvonkrumb · 08/05/2019 00:17

I (and DD) have very long hair and i find it faffy but not impossible to wash in the sink. i only do if the shower is being temperamental though as much easier to wash and deal with afterwards if washed in the shower.

PyongyangKipperbang · 08/05/2019 01:16

no, seriously, EVERYONE is dirty enough to need to shower daily. You may live with the deluded belief that you don't, but you do. Arm pits, bottoms and front bottoms, feet and faces need cleaning daily. I'm feeling ill at the thought of people not washing daily.

Everything you said can be safely discounted on the basis that you used the phrase "front bottoms"

Oh and you are mixing up dirty with "not very fresh". Pits that are sweaty are not dirty, they are just not fresh. Sweaty feet are not dirty, same with sweaty bum cracks. Arseholes I will concede if it's owner is not a scrupulous wiper, but everything else (including the dreaded "front bottom") will just have the normal bodily secretions of a human being. Not terribly pleasant but not dirty either.

And I bet the "I shower twice daily" brigade by Ecocover and think they are saving the planet Hmm

@Toucantoo exactly my thought

Skiingismylife · 08/05/2019 01:24

@Bogglesgoggles it must be

OwlBeThere · 08/05/2019 01:29

@omzlas when I was child the only sink we had was in his kitchen. It never occurred to me this was weird until I was 12 and started going on sleepovers to other people’s houses!

I wash my hair over the bath sometimes but not the sink. I do it over the bath if I’m not in the mood for my shower which is so powerful it strips off a layer of skin every time and when I’m —hungover— a bit under the weather I can’t always face it Grin

TimeForDinnerDinnerDinner · 08/05/2019 01:34

Who cares?
Why do some people feel it's so so sooooo weird that others do everyday things slightly differently to them? And get so angry about it?!

Zoflorabore · 08/05/2019 01:38

I remember going to my best friend's house as a kid and seeing her mum doing this at the kitchen sink but she also used washing up liquid Grin

OwlBeThere · 08/05/2019 01:40

Also, I don’t shower every day because my skin is eczema prone and the more I shower/bath the worse it is. When I did a strenuous job and sweated a lot I did shower daily and my skin was so sore and cracked it was awful. These days I don’t do much physically due to disabilities so I dint get dirty enough to need daily showering.

OwlBeThere · 08/05/2019 01:41

Ha! @zoflorabore my Nan used to do that, or with a bar of soap. I shudder at the very thought!

PyongyangKipperbang · 08/05/2019 01:42

I am shocked, SHOCKED I tell you, that people who sit on their arses in an office all day manage to get so dirty they need to shower twice a day and wash their hair at the same time.

In other news, there has been a huge increase in cases of eczema and other skin conditions in the last 20 years...........

QueenOfPain · 08/05/2019 01:57

This concept of “an extra hair wash between showers” is absolutely blowing my mind. I have 7+ showers between hair washes.

Keepthebloodynoisedown · 08/05/2019 02:13

When I’m suffering from a bad flare up and can’t face showering, dp sometimes helps me wash my hair in the sink. Better than nothing, and makes me feel a bit more human

MontStMichel · 08/05/2019 10:35

I have a broken fibula, and I was told to wear a walking boot with crutches whenever I stood up! It would get all wet in a bath or shower, and I don't have a shower chair, so I have had no choice but to have strip washes and wash my hair in the sink! I too sit on the toilet, which is right next to the sink to save balancing with my eyes shut on one leg, thereby hurting my hip - because its very difficult to hold elbow crutches with both hands and wash your hair at the same time!

ILoveMaxiBondi · 08/05/2019 10:41

Who are all these people that wash their hair over the bath to stop shampoo going in their eyes?? Confused what the hell way are you washing your hair in the shower that you keep putting shampoo in your eyes? Been showering for 20 odd years and never get shampoo in my eyes. I can’t understand what you people are doing to cause this!

Skiingismylife · 08/05/2019 11:03

Fair enough to wash in the sink for particular reasons but because you need more hair washes than showers? Weird. The only time I may not have a shower daily is if I feel particularly lazy and i hide at home all day. I do not sweat a lot and yet it is obvious that I had not washed. How people can go out to work and not wash it’s beyond me. It’s not even a case of strip wash either as I bet there are no bidet either to allow for that. Gross. Gross. Gross. But I guess it sits with the school of not rinsing the dishes after washing them and leaving them to dry with soap foam on them.

YesQueen · 08/05/2019 11:09

@Skiingismylife I shower in the morning but I have to wash my hair in the evening due to the length of time it takes to dry. So not skipping a shower, just different times. Hair takes between 1-24hrs to dry depending if I diffuse or air dry!

Londonmummy66 · 08/05/2019 14:13

Loving the typos on this thread - someone washes air - is that air that's been darked on? Someone else washes their hair over a seat Grin

Banhaha · 08/05/2019 20:15

@Chouetted thank you! Sounds like that might work I might give it a go at the weekend.

MrsFoxPlus4 · 08/05/2019 22:13

Skiingismylife I’m willing to bet a lot of the stripwashers don’t have bidets 😂
