To ask what would make your life easier?

ASundayWellSpent · 07/05/2019 12:50

After years getting wonderful advice from mumsnet chat boards, I wanted to ask for some help!

I've recently come into some money, and after years of working in marketing selling OTHER people's products, ideas and services I can finally start my own company!

After much brainstorming, I've got a few solid ideas, but the main point is that I want to design / make / sell something that people really NEED, that would make their lives better and hopefully easier!

So hit me! No idea is too random (I've got everything from baby products, to self help, to beauty products, safety ETC on my brainstorming board!)

What would YOU like to make YOUR life easier/ better/ more enjoyable?

Hands down a cleaner! But that's hardly a revolutionary business idea, sorry! Hopefully someone else will be along with something more interesting...

Jemima232 · 07/05/2019 12:56

I don't think this is any more enthralling, but I'd like a self-cleaning oven, or failing that, someone who would come round every two weeks and clean it. Properly.

Subeccoo · 07/05/2019 12:57

Unless you can invent more time/A day off in the week... then I'm not sure what else I really need...

BibbleBobbleBabble · 07/05/2019 12:59

Oh, actually, one thing some friends and I were wishing for recently (but it's a service, not a product) is a washable nappies service. So every few days / week / whatever they deliver clean cloth nappies to your house and take away your soiled ones. Again, not revolutionary, but there's nothing like it where we are, and I suspect there'd be plenty of interest.

SnowsInWater · 07/05/2019 13:12

A cleaner for me too, but one that is totally non-judgy about the current state of my house. That is what stops me looking for one!

londonrach · 07/05/2019 13:14

Money but ill settle for a none judgemental cleaner and tidy up uper...

Kinsters · 07/05/2019 13:16

A machine that prints money please!

ohwellstartagain · 07/05/2019 13:17

Tbh, if I had a great idea that money could be made out of I would be keeping it to myself until I could try to create it and make it fly as a business myself.

Kinsters · 07/05/2019 13:19

Actually no, a pill or something that means I only need a couple of hours sleep each night. That would be very helpful.

FudgeBrownie2019 · 07/05/2019 13:22

Back door mats or runners which actually absorb the mud and dirt off my dogs feet when they come in wet. We've spent so much money over the years on different mats all promising to clean and dry their paws and none of withstood two ridiculous spaniels.

chipsandgin · 07/05/2019 13:23

Yep, staff (cleaner, personal trainer, chef..). Sadly the reason I can’t is money, which is basically the case for most people - it isn’t a lack of availability for things that make you life easier, it’s a lack of funds!

Fatasfooook · 07/05/2019 13:25

Time machine so I can nip next week and find out this weeks lottery numbers please

Drogosnextwife · 07/05/2019 13:52

A DP that helps out a lot more at home, if you could make me one of them I would pay good money 😂.
A very lightweight, easy to fold, small when folded, good storage space buggy and double buggy that would do form children aged 4 months to about 2 and a half years. Smaller lightweight car seats for young children.

CurtainsOpen · 07/05/2019 13:54

Someone brave enough to look in our loft. Lived here 11 years, never been up there. Gonna be spiders and stuff.

IsYourGoogleBroken · 07/05/2019 13:56

Time. No one ever has enough time.

fotheringhay · 07/05/2019 14:00

A nice husband.

Failing that, a handywoman to do all the jobs I can't (would feel much safer with a woman here)

Toooldtocareanymore · 07/05/2019 14:23

Definitely wouldn't be baby product or beauty products, those are too faddy and not something I need.

Lots of other posters talked about being time poor, one area that really hits into my time would be the whole meal planning, shopping cooking, also something than meant I was more environmentally responsible. I feel I need to be more responsible in my choices , I do the shopping as local as possible, bring my own bags , then fill the trolley with food and drink in plastic wrappers while buying plastic bin bags etc While I recycle what I can, not everything can be recycled, or is being recycled efficiently by the companies that empty or recycle bins, I would like an alternative option. Or a food delivery service that's better than the boxes on offer, perhaps a food box service that planned some meals that family's eat and gave them made fresh and ready to go, as well as ingredients to cook, i'm not explaining this well. But some evenings you just don't have the time to spend cooking a meal but the option of bunging something from freezer into oven doesn't seem good, frozen meals of high quality low sugar and salt are hard to locate and then your usually a portion per person not a family meal. This Saturday I was despairing of some of my shopping at weekend as I had bought an iceberg lettuce tomatoes cucumber radish sweet peppers etc. and each single item came with a plastic wrapping of some sort, for time saving and environmental reasons I'd been better to have bought a prepared salad in a plastic bowl. So something like the food boxes subscription but say you have ingredients to make something fresh 2/3 days and say a premade good quality meal ready to cook with premade salads minus plastic packaging for other days. Not necessarily something with a different menu every week maybe yes some rotating new meal's, but family favourites so say like lasagnes, currys etc. make any sense?

AnnieMay100 · 07/05/2019 14:30

More sleep and enough money to not have to work again please!
No calorie food would be great too Grin

supernintendochalmers · 07/05/2019 15:55

I think the nappy washing service could be the start of an idea. Environmentalism is popular now, so maybe a service that provides and washes all sorts of reusable, sustainable and eco friendly items.

nauseous5000 · 07/05/2019 22:36

@Jemima232 my mother has a self cleaning oven- it's amazing!

RebeccaWrongDaily · 07/05/2019 22:43

The nappy service runs here (in the North West)

I would like someone to come in and change all the beds and take the bedding away, and the dirty towels and bring them back a week later, washed/dried/ironed (for the bed) and swap them over. I'd pay handsomely for that.

lljkk · 07/05/2019 22:46

I went running with DS this evening, but he's much faster than me.
I want an app that could track me on my phone, and give DS instructions how to follow my exact same route, but let him leave, say, 10 minutes after me.

Would need to be a talking app to tell DS which way to go, even if it just used compass directions. And then could upload our relative times onto STrava or somesuch.

Oh, and a really good free pdf editor.

RaptorWhiskers · 07/05/2019 22:47

Staff. Particularly a nanny. I agree that it isn’t a lack of available products and services that’s the problem, it’s the lack of funds to purchase them!

BlueSkiesLies · 07/05/2019 22:48

A special liquid that you put in the bath, then you immerse yourself with your eyes closed and breath through a snorkel - for a maximum of 10 mins - and then you are completely UV protected for [3] months.

No more putting on sun cream and getting sticky. No more missing bits and getting burnt. No more sweaty sun cream in your eyes when exercising.

Huzzah!

SnowsInWater · 08/05/2019 00:57

There were lots of nappy services (collect, launder, return) when I had a baby in Brighton 16 years ago. If they are not still running I guess the business model didn't prove viable?
