To ditch luxury brands for Aldi (or other budget) face ctram

Currently use Estée Lauder and other luxury brand face products, have done for years and yet am still ravaged by wrinkles and beset by bags, dropping, age spots, general awfulness. Bloody scandalous really, after the thousands I must have spent over the years I expected to be restored to embryonic plumpness (I didn't really, but every hopeful).
Now on a budget and having to cut back, seems ridiculous to spend £60 on a moisturiser when I could go to Aldi and get one for £6. Currently considering the Caviar range, but not sure if I'm making a mistake I will regret.
Anyone any experience of Aldi creams, and or any other budget recommendation.

Obviously the title was meant to read 'cream' Blush

Shit scared of Botox and fillers. Also expensive

When I bought it I convinced myself that Aldi skincare was fine. It wasn’t until I went back to my La Roche Posay that I realised it was awful. I used some of their face wash this weekend that I had left over and my skin felt awful.

Skincare isn’t somewhere I want to cut back tbh

I always used to use Dermalogica, but am just finishing my first jar of the Aldi Caviar and can't say I notice any difference either way. So I'll save myself 50 quid and stick to Aldi from now on!

tkband3 · 05/05/2019 14:19

I switched to the Aldi Caviar range about a year ago. I used to use Clarins moisturiser - around £50 a pot. I can honestly say I see no difference whatsoever and will never go back to using the more expensive creams!

roses2 · 05/05/2019 14:21

I also use the Aldi caviar range. Seems ok to me compared to Estee Lauder which I previously used.

Bufferingkisses · 05/05/2019 14:24

I recently switched to using e45 moisturiser for cleansing and moisturising. My skin is the best it's ever been, pores slowly reducing, no dryness etc. I used to use estee lauder which had been the best I'd found to this point. I don't think cost is what matters it's just finding what works with your skin.

I cant use the ALDI creams, they affect my eyes.

MyCatHatesEverybody · 05/05/2019 14:29

Personally I find the Aldi or Lidl face creams the best of the cheap/mid price bunch but then when I go back to estee lauder etc I can really see the difference. I use the cheaper ones as a stopgap if I run out of my usual.

Thanks, some mixed reviews so far....have been too scared to cut back on my skincare in case I suddenly wake up and see an old hag staring at me in the mirror, but fed up parting with £££s on what is probably snake oil.

Might just give it a go...not much to lose, although may be sporting a paper bag over my head if it all goes horribly wrong.

I can't use them as they're too perfumed and hurt my skin, especially around my eyes. I still love Simple range and Clinique if I'm feeling rich.

BluebellCockleshell123 · 05/05/2019 14:32

I use the ALDI caviar ones and I really like them. I top up my regime with retinol and other serums from The Ordinary. V good value and my skin is the best it's been in years.

RedPandaFluff · 05/05/2019 14:33

There are definitely better budget moisturisers than Aldi/Lidl - try Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentre (you can get it on Amazon). About £18 for 75ml and it's bloody great stuff.

ItsReallyOnlyMe · 05/05/2019 14:33

Like the poster above, Aldi face cream affects my eyes. Unfortunately I only discovered this whilst driving to work on a fast road where it was impossible to stop. I knew there was a lay-by about a mile away, and had to slow down as much as I was able (considering other traffic) with stinging eyes until I was able to get to the lay-by. I’ve never used cheap face cream since.

Chancewouldbeafinethlng · 05/05/2019 14:33

There are better products that are more affordable than Aldi. It’s true you don’t need to spend a fortune on skin care but when you go too cheap the ingredients are just awful sometimes. It can often be the same ingredient used but of a worse quality.

Butchyrestingface · 05/05/2019 14:34

Can’t remember whether it was Aldi or Lidl but I persevered with the face cream in the little white pots with the yellow lid for quite some time. The problem was I found them really thick and difficult to absorb.

Have since reverted to good old Oil of Olay - not much more expensive and still nothing like the money you’ve been spending.

Absofuckinglutely · 05/05/2019 14:34

Ooh @Bluebellcockleshell123 I've also fancied trying the Ordinary, but find all their products totally confusing and have no idea what to use or when to use it!

I can’t use Aldi skincare it causes my eyes to water. I’ve been using Nivea usually don’t pay more than £3.99 for a pit from home bargains or savers.

thiscannotbenormal · 05/05/2019 14:36

I've used the ordinary and the products were, well......ordinary

Chickenwing · 05/05/2019 14:36

Boots cucumber or sainsburys basic face cream are both amazing and under £3

I've been using Nivea all my life and couldn't be happier with it.

borntobequiet · 05/05/2019 14:39

I wouldn’t use their face wash (SLS - why?) but Simple’s miscellar water, toner and moisturisers are very good. Their factor 15 day cream is really nice.

RedRiverShore · 05/05/2019 14:41

Some of the beauty products sold by M&S are often rated quite highly, might be worth looking on their website
