still refer to adult child's room by name of child when referring to that room even after they have left 20 or more years earlier???

Ie. Bob's bedroom

As someone whose kids have moved out, I don't think the 'shrine' scenario is less to do with laziness or inertia as wanting the space (if you have more than enough anyway) to still be available to your kids if they need it again and not wanting to throw out their personal possessions. To be honest, if you're sure you're not coming back, it's really up to you as owner of all the random crap to come and take it away!

Farmers have names for fields that can refer to long dead people! It's a way of naming things.
