People at work who do their make up in the staff toilets

I'm pregnant at the moment so have noticed this more as I need the loo more often but these people really annoy me!

Our office has those toilets where the wall of each cubicle doesn't reach the floor, so you can see the shoes of the person next door to you.

That's off-putting in itself when you need to do a big loud wee or rustling with tampax wrappers. But there are two ladies in the office who go into the loo and spend ages at the mirror/sinks reapplying their already perfect makeup, and I can't go for a wee when they are there! It's deathly quiet compared to the hum of the office and I get stage fright and can't wee!

It's like my body won't let me so I end up just flushing the loo and coming out and washing my hands in a grump. Why the need to reapply and be in there for ages multiple times a day!

AIBU that they should do what we all do, which is usually just a quick touch up after we've been to loo and washed our hands and then leave rather than a mammoth makeup session.

Can you only wee when there’s nobody in the toilet at all? What about people washing their hands, brushing their hair etc?

Bayleyf · 04/05/2019 10:36

Doing make up in the loo is perfectly normal... so is weeing in the loo, so I think you need to get on with doing it when people can hear.

MrsFoxPlus4 · 04/05/2019 10:36

Just let people do whatever they want with their own faces and pee when nobody is around. If it’s that bad you won’t be able to hold it in anyways. Or if they take so long as you say you’ll be in and out without them knowing you also urinate

I have IBS and I hate this too. I get the shots really easily and I cringe when I go in there and one of the office it girls is doing full slap.

My IBS soon clears them out of there. Grin

Obvs

Sparklesocks · 04/05/2019 10:40

It doesn’t bother me at all tbh

kaytee87 · 04/05/2019 10:41

I think you'd better learn how to do the toilet with others in earshot before your baby comes Grin

NCforthis2019 · 04/05/2019 10:42

You get annoyed about people putting their makeup on in the loo’s? Confused and then you can do a wee because you get a fright?Confused

Ever wondered if these people had body/face insecurities and have a need to constantly try to look nice/presentable hence always reapplying? Before you start slating people, perhaps consider there might be reasons. YABVU - and being pregnant is not an excuse to be extra judgmental.

MRex · 04/05/2019 10:42

Eat lots of cabbage and refried beans, then your horrendous fart smells will hurry them on their way leaving you free to wee in peace. Sorted!

NoBaggyPants · 04/05/2019 10:42

You need to get over your weeing issue.

It's going to look very odd going into a cubicle, flushing and coming out having made no noise at all!

Sigh81 · 04/05/2019 10:43

YABU. Where else would you rather they do their make up? The loo mirrors are the best place for it. You're the one with the issue about a perfectly normal bodily function!

Baloonphobia · 04/05/2019 10:44

Do you only go if you think noone can hear you? They probably already know that people wee in the toilets. In fact, they probably wee in the toilets themselves. They won't be shocked. YABU (and weird).

Ilovewheelychairs · 04/05/2019 10:45

I flush the loo then wee whilst the flushing sound masks it iyswim? Then flush again afterwards. Once I've started to wee it's a lot easier to finish!

Still18atheart · 04/05/2019 10:45

Yabu because I’d much rather do my make up and think others would to in the loo rather than on public transport

feduuup · 04/05/2019 10:45

I didn't used to be able to wee in the toilets when anyone else was in there. I was 10...

starzig · 04/05/2019 10:46

Annoys me too. We have a tiny toilet and 1 particularly large lady stands doing her slap for ages meaning you can't wash your hands. It's just as everyone is getting in from a commute and needs to gontoo.

SgtFredColon · 04/05/2019 10:48

Christ almighty it’s never occurred to me to worry about someone overhearing me in the loo doing exactly what I’m supposed to do in the loo! And who cares if someone hears a tampax rustling?! Women get periods. Hardly a newsflash.

YABVVU

cheif · 04/05/2019 10:49

you can’t be a good mother if you worry about someone hearing the sound of you weeing. Don’t be so pathetic.

Bloody hell, chill out @Redskyandrainbows67 ! I'm already a mother and don't consider myself to be a bad one just because I want a bit of privacy!

This thread is lighthearted you know!

Well we all know what toilets are for, why be so precious about it? Its a natural function part of being a human.
I could understand you being annoyed about them taking so long and giving you an audience if you’re trying to have a sneaky vom without them knowing you’re PG

Thurmanmurman · 04/05/2019 10:52

I could understand if you needed a poo, but a wee! Really you’re pregnant so need to get over this OP as there’s worse to come I’m afraid. When I gave birth I shit myself twice in front of DH and all the midwives, after that a loud wee doesn’t even make the top 20 embarrassing moments!

cuppycakey · 04/05/2019 10:53

YABU

How do you cope in other public loo situations?

MitziTheTabbyIsMyOverlord · 04/05/2019 10:54

I flush the loo then wee whilst the flushing sound masks it iyswim? Then flush again afterwards. Once I've started to wee it's a lot easier to finish!

I do this too.

Also, if there's a hand drier, can you set this off before you go in? The noise drowns out most noises!

MrsFoxPlus4 · 04/05/2019 10:54

Bit of a reach to say the OP would be a bad mother Hmm

NameChangeNugget · 04/05/2019 10:55

YABU. Hmm
