Anyone want to play a game? I was just reading an article with this picture and realised I know exactly where this is.

It has a massive clue in the picture, which anyone who knows this part of London will recognise immediately.

Can anyone say where this is?

Or do you have one to share?

Here's another one. If this is your view, where are you?

@WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll - The lighthouses, are they all located beside Eire signs on the ground?

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 04/05/2019 21:43

WhatchaMaCalllit

That's an interesting angle - was the photographer lying in the gutter, looking up at the star? Grin

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 04/05/2019 21:47

@WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll - The lighthouses, are they all located beside Eire signs on the ground?

Not that I recall - they're all on the GB mainland. Two are in Scotland and two in England.

Livelongandprosper · 04/05/2019 21:48

Webuiltthisbuffet Is it Beddgelert?

Al2O3 · 04/05/2019 21:55

The stones inside railings looks like Dartmoor?

The first lighthouse looks like Moher but could be Scotland.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 04/05/2019 22:01

Correct, Livelongandprosper!

It's the actual, real, genuine grave of Gelert the dog, from many centuries ago and absolutely NOT an C18th addition to increase tourism, oh no.... Grin

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 04/05/2019 22:07

This one should be easy if you're local or have a very good taste in travel destinations Smile

You may have heard proclamations that the area it's in is 'no more', but I can assure you that it's still very much there (and breathtakingly beautiful).

The four coastal pictures:

No 1 is at the end of a very long trek in north-east Scotland (although hardy tourists might have done it)

No 2 is in western Scotland (along a stunning but dangerous road, at the opposite end to Bill's castle)

No 3 is in south-west England (even in the height of Summer, visiting might leave you feeling cold-blooded)

No 4 is in eastern England, although it sounds like it should be in Scotland (it's famous for the fact that the birds have eyes and the fish have fingers - be careful if you go in the Darkness)

Vinorosso74 · 04/05/2019 22:43

Ok these photos have now stumped me. The one where people are carrying the sacks of straw (?) I'm sure I have seen something on the telly about that but No idea where it is.

BestIsWest · 04/05/2019 22:48

I’d need to walk about 500 miles from where I live to get to that statue of commandos Sausage

LadyOfTheCanyon · 04/05/2019 22:50

The statue is the Commando memorial In Lochaber.

BestIsWest · 04/05/2019 22:50

I’ve just googled and it is actually 495 miles from where I live Grin?

LadyOfTheCanyon · 04/05/2019 22:50

Ha! x post!

Stroller15 · 04/05/2019 22:52

@whatchamacallit I believe that is Oscar Wilde reclining in Dublin?

AngelOfDeathNix · 04/05/2019 22:54

Number 1 is Dunnet Head
Number 2 is Ardnamurchan Point
Number 3 is the old lifeboat station at Lizard Point
Number 4 is Ness Point in Lowestoft

The connection is they are the most north/east/south/west points on the Mainland.

LaurieFairyCake · 04/05/2019 22:58

WeBuilt

That last one is Lizard - I was there two weeks ago! Smile

BestIsWest · 04/05/2019 22:58

I’ll take a Wilde guess that the man in the green jacket on the rock is somewhere in Ireland.

BestIsWest · 04/05/2019 23:00

This stained glass window commemorates an ill fated voyage of discovery.

@WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll the eastern one is Ness point in Lowestoft. Most easterly part of England right near the Birdseye factory.

Plaintree · 04/05/2019 23:17

@BouncingCzech If you look carefully at the photo it says St Ives Laundrette on the left hand side.

@Al2O3 Russell Square.
