Anyone want to play a game? I was just reading an article with this picture and realised I know exactly where this is.

It has a massive clue in the picture, which anyone who knows this part of London will recognise immediately.

Can anyone say where this is?

Or do you have one to share?

Al2O3 is that near Angel? I don't recognise the awesome green phone box but the buildings look really familiar.

Vinorosso74 · 04/05/2019 17:13

Is that green shelter in one of the squares in Central London e.g. Tavistock/Russell sq?

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 04/05/2019 17:14

Can you give us a very rough idea what part of the country perhaps?

It's in the south-west. Very well-known for its 'alternative' outlook on life. My friend spotted a for sale ad in a shop window for a green velvet cloak, which he thought seemed to sum the place up perfectly!

The stone that Mr X is standing on was named in honour of somebody who shared a name with one of Julius' 'associates'.

Al2O3 · 04/05/2019 17:16

No its not Angel resisterpersister but if you wind your way south-west wards, you may find it near a Square where water jets out in the middle, and for sure a cab driver will take you there.

Al2O3 · 04/05/2019 17:16

Vino has it

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 04/05/2019 17:22

Here's another one, if anybody is interested.

Here are some more difficult ones and the last one a fun one. In all cases they are outside of the M25.

Clue 1: looking at the which Estuary?
Clue 2: Grockles?
Clue 3: Summer 2018, but where?

Good luck! Smile

From your description WeBuilt I would say either Tintagel or Glastonbury, though I do not know the precise stone so do not have that vision captured in my mind.

Ooh, I like your thinking. It's in Devon, the main road is on a very steep hill and, for the last 12 years, they've had their own local pound as currency, to encourage people to keep trading within the community.

YetAnotherNameChanged · 04/05/2019 20:58

Three photos here for you to try. All the same village. Northern.

I got Stamford Hill, too (from Nettos and the frummer Grin).

Don’t recognise the old green phone box. Gorgeous, though. Is it Islington?

RadioMeinRadio · 04/05/2019 21:03

Totnes, WeBuilt? I love that place.

violeticecream · 04/05/2019 21:04

If any ones interested, the green buildings are actually shelters for can drivers. They have an interesting history

BestIsWest

He's certainly looking very pompous under the circumstances Smile

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 04/05/2019 21:12

Well done, RadioMeinRadio - it is indeed the weird, quirky yet wonderful Totnes!

The stone is named after Brutus of Troy - apparently, it was the first stone he stood on when he disembarked from his ship (slightly geographically dubious, that claim Hmm Grin). The plaque on the wall is a lot more impressive to look at than the stone itself!

He certainly is SausageRoll Wink. (May I take this opportunity to say how much I’ve always admired your user name )

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 04/05/2019 21:22

Why, thank you, BestIsWest!

Elgar is so associated with Worcester that a statue of him outside Hereford cathedral still seems a bit weird to me Smile

WhatchaMaCalllit · 04/05/2019 21:28

Where is this statue?

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 04/05/2019 21:28

No takers on my other one - the mound surrounded by a circular fence?

It's an amazingly beautiful village, neither affluent nor poor, but they're gravely concerned with keeping the wolf from the door. Hope I haven't leaked too much info, there.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 04/05/2019 21:32

These three and the next one (coming up) are nowhere near each other, but they do have a very quirky geographical link.
