Natasha4767 · 01/05/2019 12:39

Am I nuts to have a Hollywood was at 38 weeks I've had them lots of times but not during pregnancy.

I ended up getting my other half to shave me about two weeks ago and I just want to feel nice and clean (personal preference) I'm having a csection so it's not about lots of people seeing my lady area. It's just for me. Plus this is my 4th baby and first section so I have no worried about doctors seeing down their 😂😂

OP posts:
crispysausagerolls · 03/05/2019 15:10

I did this and it was fine and I felt better about a room of people seeing my bits

If you want to induce labour and all sorts of foreign bacteria to your vag OP just before birth, then yeah sure... Go ahead.

mnoxno · 03/05/2019 15:26

@Fiveredbricks bit exaggerated that is it not?🥴

HelenaDove · 03/05/2019 16:18

"What about the many men that shave their faces every day in order to look acceptably ‘clean and tidy’? "

How is that even remotely the same? The equivalent is women shaving their legs not their pubic area.
And if a man chooses to rock a full beard do people point laugh and abuse. NO but if a woman chooses to keep her leg hair she risks abuse.

www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/instagram-model-hairy-legs-rape-threats-arvida-bystr-m-a7987496.html

AND in the 1980s BEFORE the internet when i was at high school i got plenty of abuse for having hairy legs from girls as
well as boys But the boys little attempts as beard.............not a derogatory word was said.

HelenaDove · 03/05/2019 16:21

Im unshaved down there and ive never had that problem @mnoxo

mnoxno · 03/05/2019 16:22

@HelenaDove it's a joke. No need to get
Offended if your dh likes that then there isn't a problem

HelenaDove · 03/05/2019 16:25

MY DH doesnt have sex because he has a serious illness. But ive never come across this like i said.

but then ive always gone for much older men.

HelenaDove · 03/05/2019 16:28

its not a joke Because misogyny is as bad as racism Yet the former gets tolerated even though it affects 50% of the population.

mnoxno · 03/05/2019 16:29

@HelenaDove yeah everyone's different and younger
Men probably prefer non hairy than hairy 😂

SnowyAlpsandPeaks · 03/05/2019 16:30

Well I come in too say, best not as you are at more risk of infection as the skin won’t be in tact- o well!!

So, good luck! I hope it all goes smoothly (excuse the pun) for you and you have a gorgeous bundle of joy soon!!🍼🍼🍼🍼

HelenaDove · 03/05/2019 16:49

Dont really give a shit what men prefer. This place is turning into a real cesspit.

Thismummyruns · 03/05/2019 17:05

I did at that stage in my last pregnancy, can't remember it hurting more than normal.

Popc0rn · 03/05/2019 17:05

If anything I'd be more embarrassed about the fact my outer labia is so large the gp offered me a referral to have it chopped off but I'm so happy in my body I don't want it doing!

...how did your GP know that you've got a larger labia, unless you told them it bothered you in the first place? Please don't say that they offered you that sort of procedure unsolicited?!

Slicedpineapple · 03/05/2019 17:09

I'm having one at 39 weeks.

To those mentioning the pain - lol she will be going in to labour not long after, consider it limbering up.

I'm having one because you bleed a lot after having a baby and I feel a lot cleaner not having that caught up in my pubes. Obviously yes you wash all the time but it's still there in between the washes.

Don't care about TMI, people blaming porn culture need to think about how gross that can feel to come people.
DH has been helping me shave during pregnancy because I feel cleaner that way. Believe me, he does not want to have sex with me right now, I get cramp every time. So it's no benefit to him.

Go for it OP.

NewFoneWhoDis · 03/05/2019 17:22

I did it at 38 weeks because I didn't want to risk getting shaved with a dry bic in hospital and have to deal with stubble as it always triggers a rash for me. Waxing grows back more gently.

I ended up having an EMCS and it meant that there was no regrowth on the area until my wound was well on it's way to healing.

I get them done now for me, it seems to help ward off the hormonal thrush I get for some odd reason I dunno. DP has no preference and has never influenced me not that I'd listen to him anyway.

BuildBuildings · 03/05/2019 17:30

I don't want to judge because I do think women should do what makes them happy. However people posting about hating having hair down there makes me uncomfortable. It's totally normal so I wondered where these messages are coming from that make women so uncomfortable about body hair?

Slicedpineapple · 03/05/2019 17:36

I don't generally care about having body hair but find clean up a little bit difficult when I'm on my period etc. So the idea of having a lot of hair down there and a lot of the post birth blood (I imagine more than a periods worth) to deal with, for easy clean up I would prefer to have no hair at that time. Or less of it than a bush.

youhavetouseanexistingholesir · 03/05/2019 17:39

FFS it's fine to be hairy and it's also fine to wax!!! It's about choice surely?? There isn't a feminism entrance exam that you fail if you remove hair 🙄

stucknoue · 03/05/2019 17:40

I was be only concerned that if you need a c-section and labour spontaneously starts on the day you wax - waxing for 24 hours leaves the skin raw so you wouldn't want surgery!

Don't take Ibuprofen in late pregnancy, though.

It's associated with an increased risk of heart murmurs (thanks, old GP who prescribed it to me at 34 weeks, I really didn't need to be dealing with cardiologists for the following years after the 'she has a heart murmur').

I hate having a full winter pelt - which is where DP and his clippers come in - it's hot and harder to keep clean/fresh in warm weather, despite bathing/showering/washing. So if you want it, go for it.

Vulpine · 03/05/2019 17:59

I've always thought that men who prefer non hairy were a bit dodgy

WaterOffaDucksCrack · 03/05/2019 18:24

I doubt men bother waxing for their wedding night, let alone when they're about to go through a major life and medical event at least 10 of the men I've been with waxed or shaved down below so I don't know why you're making out it's only women?
