Hollywood Wax 38 weeks?

Natasha4767 · 01/05/2019 12:39

Am I nuts to have a Hollywood was at 38 weeks I've had them lots of times but not during pregnancy.

I ended up getting my other half to shave me about two weeks ago and I just want to feel nice and clean (personal preference) I'm having a csection so it's not about lots of people seeing my lady area. It's just for me. Plus this is my 4th baby and first section so I have no worried about doctors seeing down their 😂😂

If anything I'd be more embarrassed about the fact my outer labia is so large the gp offered me a referral to have it chopped off

Your labia would look a lot less pronounced if your fanny wasn't bald.

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 01/05/2019 13:38

I hate being hairy, too. It's not a question of 'male preference'; it's mine. Do whatever you are comfortable with, OP. You might be a little more sensitive, that's all.

PS. thank you for posting this. Constant shaving and waxing is really beginning to get on my nerves and you have just convinced me to invest in a home laser hair remover. I should have done it years ago.

PPS. Body hair or baldness aside, all good wishes are coming your way for a safe and happy delivery!

What’s your point? The OP said she was happy with how her fanny looked Hmm

Natasha4767 · 01/05/2019 14:49

In regards to looking bigger because i wax the hair off this is probably slightly true but it's not going to make that much difference.

I think in a world we're so many young women are embarrassed about their Fanny's surly it should be a positive thing if women can do things they like to make them like it, I don't understand why we're not supporting each other more to feel comfortable in our own body's we're talking about hair removal not fanny lip fillers here 😂

I'm very happy with how my fanny looks 😂 I'm Not being pushed into anything it's not because of porn, it's just how I like it I'm dark haired because of my heritage. I just find it more comfortable.

In regards to men my DP waxes his back every month and he's big and hairy he just prefers it like that too, he says the hair on his back makes him feel hotter and that he's more comfortable without it. I actually think he looks more attractive with it 😂 but that's just how he wants it. So some men do prefer it too.

blue I don’t actually remember being told to remove hair, I did it for my own benefit.

IsYourGoogleBroken · 01/05/2019 15:01

I doubt men bother waxing for their wedding night, let alone when they're about to go through a major life and medical event.

Waxing, no, but DH has to full body shave when he has open heart surgery, tubes and pipes everywhere.

Nicknacky · 01/05/2019 15:02

blue sorry, just realised I read your question wrong. No I probably wouldn’t shave or waxed if advised not to.

Lndnmummy · 01/05/2019 15:04

I had c section at big London teaching hospital a few months ago (Kings) and I was told to remove hair (or the yellow bic would come out in theatre Shock) no thanks! I waxed three days before c section (Brazilian). It was more painful than normal but manageable.

Nesssie · 01/05/2019 15:05

Women can actually do things to their own body without it being for men, you know

^This

FYI Op and Contraceptionismyfriend , it definitely hurts more whne pregnant!

MammaG1417 · 01/05/2019 15:30

I had a Hollywood before being induced with both of mine (I'm a regular Hollywood waxer). Hurt more the second time I was pregnant as I couldn't lie on the bed properly, she had to stop every couple of minutes so I could sit up! But I couldn't have not done it before baby came as it would be so long till I could get it done after and I hate having hair down there Grin

Contraceptionismyfriend · 01/05/2019 15:58

FML I don't give a shit about the history or the porn culture or what ever other discussions are going on.

I like feeling fresh. I am 30 weeks. I feel sweaty and horrible. I want to feel good. And for me that involves getting rid of the bush.

I am not doing it for any man as my husband has made it very clear that he's not going near there for the foreseeable future.

Thank you for preparing me for the pain. Just like labour I'm sure it'll all be worth it in the end.

PinguForPresident · 01/05/2019 15:58

Loads of women have a Hollywood just before giving birth (I'm a midwife. I see a lot of fannies!) . It's absolutely fine, waxing therapists must be used to you being a bit ungainly assuming the various positions one has to in order to get the tricky bits.

StarlightLady · 01/05/2019 16:33

People who choose not to remove their hair, don’t have to. The way some people react is as if they are being forced to remove theirs against there will.

It’s a personal choice about appearance.

The only hair on my body is on my head. Nothing to do with porn. Nothing to do with men.

Contraceptionismyfriend · 01/05/2019 17:19

As a first time waxer if I'm due to go to full term when would be the best time to get it done? If I do it at 38 weeks will I be covered for birth?

Natasha4767 · 02/05/2019 12:10

Well i never got time to have my Hollywood! My waters broke today 😂

Contraceptionismyfriend · 02/05/2019 12:12

OMG! How are you feeling?

goose1964 · 02/05/2019 12:19

You ought to watch the YouTube videos about ingrowing hairs, some are horrific

Moneys2Tight2Mention · 02/05/2019 12:22

You've made the Sun OP...

Damntheman · 02/05/2019 12:28

Ooo good luck OP! May the birth be swift but not TOO swift :D

Carmenberg · 02/05/2019 16:23

You are Not nuts at all. These women on here really have strong opinions on the subject. I am an aesthetician (beauty therapist) and pregnant women getting waxed is a very common practice. There are several different reasons for waxing the bikini area and legs in preparation for labor. Women often think about not having time or energy after the baby arrives.
Getting waxed or lásered has absolutely nothing to do with men or porn. That is absurd. I am fully làsered downstairs and it is solely for me. Maybe because I like the smooth skin and no skin irritation. So before you judge a pregnant woman for wanting to get waxed get your head out of the gutter and think there are several reasons for having it done. By the way you would be surprised how many men have it done as well. Good luck and congratulations!!!!

Tunnocks34 · 02/05/2019 16:29

Too late now, but I have been having a Hollywood for about 4 years, and never stop when pregnant. I have Lycon hot wax and it doesn’t really hurt much more than normal (for me)

CrapTvAddict · 02/05/2019 19:33

Why does it hurt more being waxed if you are pregnant? Genuine question

Carmenberg · 02/05/2019 21:27

Due to the increased hormone levels it makes you more sensitive to pain. It’s the same for getting waxed or lasered during your period. Usually taking ibuprofen 30 minutes before your appointment will make it more comfortable.

Nesssie · 03/05/2019 12:10

Good luck/congratulations OP!

Binxie0725 · 03/05/2019 15:07

It’s standard that since you’re having a c-section they will shave your bikini line. So if you would like to get a wax, by all means go for it. Just be prepared because of increased blood flow, the pain may be more intense. I was too scared to get waxed during my pregnancy, so shaved instead. I would have them test a small area first to see how it is for you. Good luck to you!
