To expect Asda to actually deliver my entire shopping list?

takemetoabeach · 28/04/2019 12:08

Each month, I do a delivery order of heavy/tinned/bottled items. Then top up on the fresh stuff myself when needed.

Today, I've received one packet of cat food. I ordered 6. Are you really telling me that they only have one packet of cat food in stock in the whole store?

AIBU to be annoyed that I now have to do another delivery next week, as I can't carry them home myself?

And we'll ignore the substitution of vegetarian sausages with actual sausages

Asda are useless. They did the quorn substitution to me too, never shopped with them again.

SailorJerry13 · 28/04/2019 12:12

Nope, they do it to me to every week.

Ordered frozen chips this week, none in order. You’re telling me in a HUGE superstore there isn’t one packet of frozen chips?

I have never ever ever had a full order, which is odd considering I have been able to find everything if Iv shopped in store.

I think the people who pick it just can’t be arsed so say it’s unavailable when it is really.

Have turned off substitutions now as when I was accepting them I was getting all sorts of crap instead of what I ordered, to the point that I was sure they had to substitute at least one item for something I personally hated. (Think, pepperoni pizza for a veggie one, or whole bagels for disgusting ‘thins’ )

Awesomeo90 · 28/04/2019 12:17

Last week I picked up my click and collect order to find 17 items missing - including a big pack of toilet rolls and dog food, so not easy things to lose! Was told "oh we've given them to someone else, sorry" when I pointed it out. Phoned customer services and they offered me a £5 voucher - told them I didn't want the voucher, just the shopping because I didn't have the money in my account to replace the items. This was apparently impossible but they did offer me another voucher - this time for a free delivery Hmm

rabbitheadlights · 28/04/2019 12:18

I have found asda to be terrible amongst other things I have ordered fairy only to have fairy lights delivered and bottled water as a substitute for bleach!

WorraLiberty · 28/04/2019 12:20

This is why I switched back to Morrisons.

Asda were sending regular substitutions. Some acceptable and some not.

But I gave up when they sent ELEVEN substitutions one week!

rabbitheadlights · 28/04/2019 12:21

@Awesomeo90 this happened to me too I spent ages on the phone and eventually they gave in and I could collect a free £50 gift card from customer service desk

Hassled · 28/04/2019 12:24

Asda once charged me £111 for £11's worth of chicken breasts in a delivery (sort of fair enough, mistakes happen), and then their customer services told me it would take 5-7 working days for a refund (absolutely not fair enough). I went full-on "no it fucking won't, you can take my money in seconds so you can give it back in seconds and I want my money and I want it NOW" and then as if by magic my money was back in my account. But there was no apology - more a sense that I'd inconvenienced them by being overcharged. Asda are pretty much dead to me now.

JuniperNarni · 28/04/2019 12:28

They substituted my Turkey crown for salt and pepper chicken breasts and my pigs in blankets for chicken peanut satay skewers. Was also missing santas mince pie and stuffing. Two days before Christmas. Did a Christmas eve midnight shop and still couldn't get the stuff, exactly what I was trying to avoid with a newborn at home.

I wouldn't mind, I understand Christmas is busy etc but with having to book the slot about 6 weeks in advance you'd think they would have a rough idea how much they are going to need to fulfil orders. I got a £5 voucher.

SittinOnThaToilet · 28/04/2019 12:31

I've found asda awful every time. I don't think they ever delivered my full order. I don't use them anymore.

strawberrisc · 28/04/2019 12:38

I work and don’t drive. I have the ASDA delivery pass and so far can’t fault them. I can continue adding items up to midnight, they email me beforehand to let me know what substitutes they have made. 9/10 I get a better product for the same price. Last order they didn’t have the small pack of beef cubes so sen me the large pack. Same with fish food.

Purplecatshopaholic · 28/04/2019 12:42

I used Asda on one occasion - once was enough! And they dumped everything on my door step and wouldnt carry it into the house. Mind you at least they turned up. I tried Tescos once too and they cancelled on me at the last minute! I use Sainsburys and Morrisons - both excellent

Samind · 28/04/2019 12:42

I stopped using Asda for this reason!!! It's absolutely crazy when I'm sure they have the items in stock. Im not fussed on brands either but I remember ordering certain razors and they'd sent me another pack which were awful. But don't worry, they refunded the difference and for the items not sent.... 🤐

Jaz32 · 28/04/2019 12:43

Lol every time without fail stuff is missing, unavailable or a crap unsuitable substitute. And it's always the thing you wanted for dinner that night so then you have to go elsewhere to buy it! When I go to the store I never have issue with stuff being in stock so assume they just can't be bothered to look!

cliquewhyohwhy · 28/04/2019 12:43

I stopped using Asda and use Morrison's now.

SheWoreBlueVelvet · 28/04/2019 12:48

I have no problems with ASDA. Their website is dead easy, you can change orders up to midnight the night before and it’s only £25 min delivery rather than £40 everywhere else.

They have put delivery prices up this week from £1 to £2. though. Which is another £52 a year - more than a weeks shopping.

maras2 · 28/04/2019 12:48

We've used Tesco home delivery for 3 years and have only once had a substation which upgraded from Tesco own brand to a 'named' label which was £3 more but only charged the Tesco price.
They've never been late and if they're ahead time the driver has phoned to see if it's convenient. Halo
Ohhh Crap! Gone and jinxed it now Smile Watch this space.

KurriKurri · 28/04/2019 12:48

I stopped using them when the driver delivered half my shopping (all my fruit and veg was missing) I asked him if that was everything as it didn;t seem enough and he was very grumpy saying ' yes' and wouldn't check.

When he'd gone I phoned ASDA said half the shopping was missing, they said they couldn't do anything until driver had finished his round (9pm that evening). He found the shopping but refused to come back to my house to deliver it as 'he'd finished his rounds'.

ASDA refunded - but not for 3 working days - leaving me with no fruit and veg (I am a vegetarian - so basics of my meals) and no money for several days to replace the items.

I no longer shop with them. The thought of my shopping travelling round the district in the lorry when it could easily have been given to me if the driver had been less obstructive made me very very cross. That and the constant subsituting ordinary milk for my lacto free and meat for my veggie products.

maddiemookins16mum · 28/04/2019 12:50

I use Asda weekly, it’s by far the cheapest. Very few substitutes in over 2 years, occasionally a different frozen pizza or different ‘flavour’ of Lenor. Maybe I’m just lucky.

Rach000 · 28/04/2019 12:51

I ordered once from asda, waiting for a hours one evening. Rang customer services who said it was on it's way. Waited till about 11 when it was due about 7 and went to bed. It never came and no one even contacted us to say sorry and didn't reply to my complaints. So never used again.
The in-laws use asda and always complain how many missing items they have every week....
We use Morrison's and hardly ever have a missing item or substitute and they are always on time.

KnobOfStork · 28/04/2019 12:52

Asda substitutes are always so weird. I recieved a chicken and chorizo pizza instead of some quorn and vanilla body wash instead of vanilla extract and 2kg of loose carrots instead of mixed frozen veg in the same order Confused. A friend who works at Tesco told me the computer tells them what to pick and they can't override it even if it's obviously ridiculous.
In student accommodation the driver dumped all the shopping on the road outside the gate. They usually can't do enough to help though, one once helped me put all the shopping away because he had no other deliveries and was well ahead of time bless him. They're also usually as baffled about why 3 packets of chopped walnuts was substituted for a bar of fruit and nut as I am.

Mummyoflittledragon · 28/04/2019 12:52

I use Tesco. Never had a stupid substitute or loads of stuff missing.

ForgotwhatIcameinherefor · 28/04/2019 12:57

I went back from Sainsbury's to Tesco as I missed their substitutions! I have had some amazing results and of course if you don't like them you can just reject them.
I only wish they hadn't pushed minimum order up from £25 to £40 as I used to like getting deliveries twice a week with delivery saver.

fecketyfeck21 · 28/04/2019 12:58

i haven't had any problems with asda apart for a driver [same one on both occasions] saying he didn't want to be bothered about taking old carriers for recycling as 'they all go in the rubbish' wtf. contacted asda and was given a £5 credit but that's not the point.
another driver took them and said this 'bin the bags driver' was known for being 'a bit of a knob about taking bags, and yes they do recycle.

Muddlingalongalone · 28/04/2019 12:59

Yabu to expect anything of asda. Take your business elsewhere

heavenlypink · 28/04/2019 13:00

I seem to be in the minority ....
Use Asda fortnightly for my big shop. Rarely have substitutions and on the whole the are always "reasonable" On the occasions I do have any issues refunds are given immediately, quite often I am credited before I am debited for my shopping.
