To expect Asda to actually deliver my entire shopping list?

takemetoabeach · 28/04/2019 12:08

Each month, I do a delivery order of heavy/tinned/bottled items. Then top up on the fresh stuff myself when needed.

Today, I've received one packet of cat food. I ordered 6. Are you really telling me that they only have one packet of cat food in stock in the whole store?

AIBU to be annoyed that I now have to do another delivery next week, as I can't carry them home myself?

And we'll ignore the substitution of vegetarian sausages with actual sausages

Im fond of Asda and whilst I have had lots of substitutes I often get better than what I ordered.

CanILeavenowplease · 28/04/2019 15:12

I use Asda with the minimum of fuss or hassle. There is usually some kind of substitution but not one I’ve ever felt the need to send back - always sensible. I use cheap time slots and never pay more than £2 which I consider a bargain to have someone do my shopping and drop it to my doorstep!

BummyKnocker · 28/04/2019 15:50

I use Asda as they are the cheapest and we have a delivery pass. I'm constantly surprised by the out of stock notifications for basic stuff.

I also wish the drivers would carry the crates in. The occasional one will help out. I can't lift them so have to take handfuls of stuff in and keep going back to the door while they look mildly exasperated at how long it take me.

RebootYourEngine · 28/04/2019 16:06

@sueelleker the pickers still have to do their job while navigating around customers.

Strawberrylaceaddict · 28/04/2019 16:13

Not Asda but Tesco turned up today without any bread or chips as apparently there were no available substitutions....

takemetoabeach · 28/04/2019 16:15

I'm not belittling their job ... but are you really telling me I had the last packet of cat food in the entire store?

Everyone keeps ‘suggesting’ to me that I online shop- but I just don’t like it!! Basically because of all the things mentioned on this thread!

DH and I go through A LOT of bulky heavy items (think large bottles of pop, cat litter and food...etc) but every time I grumble and ask him to come with me- I get a ‘why can’t we just order it online?’

THIS IS WHY 😂

I did order from Sainsbury’s once and they were decent, no substituations, but several of the ‘long life’ items showed up with 2-3 days date on them- when in store I would usually get 2-3 months. I complained and they refunded them but honestly wasn’t worth the hassle!

RidgedPerfection · 28/04/2019 17:49

@Honeydukes it's very possible that you had the last packet of cat food depending upon what time your order was picked at. For instance if your order is picked at 0400 that section may not have been replenished yet or the delivery not yet arrived. If you had a later order which was picked several hours later then that cat food may have been there, very much depends upon timings.

Whackaguacamole · 28/04/2019 17:52

Your substitutions are on the email they send! So you can think ahead of time if you want to accept them or not. It's great they don't send the paper, so much waste

MyDcAreMarvel · 28/04/2019 17:53

Asda Ste awful, I only use Morrisons or Ocado.

NoodleKT · 28/04/2019 17:55

We've ordered a click and collect before now and when we've gone to collect have had to pop in to the store to collect something I'd forgotten only to find that everything they've substituted or said is unavailable is actually in stock!!!

Helpybaby · 28/04/2019 18:04

@Rabbitheadlights I think fairy lights instead of fairy liquid wins the prize for the oddest substitution Grin

RidgedPerfection · 28/04/2019 18:12

We've ordered a click and collect before now and when we've gone to collect have had to pop in to the store to collect something I'd forgotten only to find that everything they've substituted or said is unavailable is actually in stock!!! Again most likely due to the time at which the order was picked - would have been absent from the shelves then and replenished after it had been fulfilled.

YouJustDoYou · 28/04/2019 18:14

Thisbis why I got fed up of using asda and switched.

takemetoabeach · 28/04/2019 18:24

Also, they've taken the full cost of the shop from my account...I imagine it'll take days to get the £35 of missing shopping refunded.

I ordered a cabbage once and had 1 sprout instead. A driver also told me someone had ordered condoms on his route and they had substituted it with a pregnancy test😂😂😂

Usuallyinthemiddle · 28/04/2019 20:21

I ordered a number 4 candle and got a blackberry jar candle as a substitution! Great on a cake... Confused

likeafishneedsabike · 28/04/2019 21:17

They’re shit. I did hear of someone whose eggs were substituted with cadbury’s Creme eggs. I might not have minded that so much Grin

RebootYourEngine · 29/04/2019 20:33

Online shopping at asda goes like this....

Customer places an order anytime up to midnight the day before delivery/collection.
Pickers work between the hours of 5-11am.
They are given targets to pick a certain amount of items per hour. They do not have time to search the shop for items that are not on the shelf.
If the item is not on the shelf the Picker will substitute it.
They are told what substitutes to pick.
The orders will then stay in the Home Shopping area until they are due to be delivered or collected.

YoThePussy · 29/04/2019 20:48

ASA home delivery were the only ones who could supply me with croissants for Easter, all the other supermarkets had run out. Nuff said, love ‘em for that.

YoThePussy · 29/04/2019 20:49

ASDA even

AwdBovril · 29/04/2019 21:01

In 3 years of ASDA deliveries, I think they only sent my complete order correctly with no substitutions twice. I defected to Morrisons - have been with them about 5 years, I've only had 3 substitutions, each time they sent a larger and/or better quality version (rather than the value brand items I'd ordered). Only once have they been completely out of stock of something. And every time they only charged me the price of the item I'd actually ordered instead of the higher priced item they'd substituted it with. Completely happy with Morrisons service.

Redglitter · 29/04/2019 21:04

I would never use Asda. I used to & got constant - ridiculous - substitutes. Drivers were rude and unhelpful.

Very rarely get substitutes with Tesco

hsegfiugseskufh · 29/04/2019 21:06

Theyre crap. They delivered my shopping minus all the frozen stuff.

We order with them at work and they didnt deliver washing up liquid. Not even a substitution. Theres no way with all tge brands and variations of washing up liquid that they couldn't find 1 single bottle?!

stucknoue · 29/04/2019 21:18

I stopped online shopping when they sent newborn nappies instead of size 5 pull ups! It was a long time ago. Ocado I've had when I've been ill but I go, less stressful!
