Not an AIBU but posting in busy part of the site for support. I'm excited at the thoughts of being done but so tired! Is anyone in the same boat?

2500 words to go Shock I have all evening and all day tomorrow to do it. Will I survive? Wondering if I should work through part of the night to get a big chunk done?

I know my topic fairly well, though have to do a bit more research. I have opinions on it so lots to say in anyway. I'm just really tired and feeling daunted, and definitely need a bit of a break after this is handed in.

Who can relate?

I graduated many moons ago but well remember this situation!

Just keep plodding on!

Loopytiles · 24/04/2019 18:49

I never worked at night as am a morning person, and would be ineffective.

IVEgottheDECAF · 24/04/2019 18:49

Mine is due 30/5 i still have lots to read

PlainSpeakingStraightTalking · 24/04/2019 18:49

Its only 5 pages, get on with it and stop procrastinating

QuestionableMouse · 24/04/2019 18:51

I have four due in before the 25th May so know how you feel! One is quite research heavy but the others should be fine. I just need time to actually sit down and start.

MrsSpenserGregson · 24/04/2019 18:52

Yes I can relate and I finished my degree 20 years ago! At least you have the internet now for research .... I often think about how different my degree would be now (I read Law, which meant spending hours in the library photocopying law reports as there were only a few copies available)... and buying hard copies of newspapers to read the legal pages whereas now its all online ....

2500 can be knocked out in a day, you've got this [coffee]

UCOinanOCG · 24/04/2019 18:53

I am sure you will get it done. Spend a little time planning it properly. Break it down into manageable chunks and really focus on making sure each section is as tight as can be so you don't have to go back and do too much tweaking when you have finished.

I would work up until 11pm/midnight then go to bed and sleep until about 6 am then get up and start again. Remember to eat regularly and take breaks. Finish it by tomorrow night then get up early on Friday to re-read it, make any minor changes then get it submitted.

Good Luck.

FinalFurlongs · 24/04/2019 19:25

Thanks everyone!

All the planning is done, with quite a lot of detail. I'm kind of just filling in each section now. The thing I have to watch out for it rambling in a way that's a bit off-topic, because it's very easy to do when really, I need to make sure I put in enough hard evidence, stats and figures. It's making sure all the stats are correct that I think will take the most time.

Good luck to my fellow essayists!

I want to get a respectable mark. Been proud of all my marks to date, want this to be ok too. But so tired .

I’m in the same boat!
Dissertation due in next Friday (10,000 words) and 2 essays (combines 5,500 words) due in the Friday after!!!

I also work full time 🙈
I’m currently so stressed I’m almost two weeks late on my period (definitely not pregnant - several tests taken)

Just keep repeating to myself that it’ll be over soon - whilst crying and rocking slowly!
I’m on track for a solid 1st so far and desperate to maintain that.

Good luck xx

Annasgirl · 24/04/2019 19:37

I'm back as a mature student in my masters. Three left to hand in by May 7th. Two written (just need to edit) - and one remaining. I need to start it though.

I feel for you - just remember, you are so nearly there. I keep telling myself I will never spend another Easter weekend writing an essay!!

Good luck - do an all nighter if you need to and edit it tomorrow after you sleep. Make sure to have tea and chocolate to hand.

Just write write write and then spend tomorrow editing. And make sure you keep on topic - do not write the essay you want - write the essay you've been asked to write!!!

summerevenings2019 · 24/04/2019 19:39

You can do this! Just think of how god it'll feel to submit it.

You can easily knock 2500 words out in a day, get a good nights sleep, have a chilled evening and give yourself a mental break then work on it tomorrow.

summerevenings2019 · 24/04/2019 19:39

*good Grin

BayandBlonde · 24/04/2019 19:42

I will never forget the days running up to my dissertation submission. (About 10 years ago) I didn't sleep for days, just reading and rereading. The final few thousand feels like to going to take a lifetime, but just keep plugging away.

Don't forget though everyone will probably be submitting online at the same time so be mindful of the Uni servers being up against it. The Uni will not accept the severs going down as a reason for a late submission. Give yourself plenty of time.

You got this Smile

Katinkka · 24/04/2019 19:56

I’m doing my dissertation right now. Needs to be at least 4K words and I can’t getpast 3k.

pompomcat · 24/04/2019 20:02

I'm with @summerevenings2019, if you're tired now then get a good night's sleep and finish it tomorrow, 2500 is easily done in a day if you focus (& I say this as a veteran of three degrees who is still a veeeery slow essay writer!) If it helps clear your mind then scribble any thoughts down before you go to bed. Best of luck!!!

FinalFurlongs · 24/04/2019 20:20

I don't dare go to sleep until I've written a good amount. I know I'll panic if it virtually all needs to be done tomorrow!

Iblinkedandiamold · 24/04/2019 20:24

I feel you my dissertation is due on Monday, although I have to submit Sunday night. I still to add a lot more litature support. Damn litature support has been the bane of my life for the last 18 months.

SaskiaRembrandt · 24/04/2019 20:28

You have my sympathies! My last one is due in two weeks - I've got another 4000 words to do. Part of me is thinking is easily doable, the part of me that likes to catastrophise is insisting I'll never manage it.

Sillybillypoopoomummy · 24/04/2019 20:31

I feel your pain. I now have 3 lectures to write for 10 days time (usually a week each...)...

FinalFurlongs · 25/04/2019 00:22

Ugh this is awful. I don't feel physically tired anymore (ate a good dinner and had a coffee) but my brain is only operating in a very slow mode.

It has taken me until now to write 400 words Sad Maybe I should sleep soon and do the rest tomorrow, hope for the best.

OP posts:
NuclearReactor · 25/04/2019 00:55

I can totally relate! I had 5,000 words to write in one evening last Sunday - because I'm an idiot and left it until the last minute. I was able to get an extension and worked day and nights for 3 days and got there! Lots of research and references and very little guidance made it extremely hard! Get yourself comfortable, get some study snacks and relaxing music on the go - that's what helped me!

HerRoyalNotness · 25/04/2019 01:10

You’ve only got 2100 to go then! Get some rest and start again in the morning.

Good luck!

Gingerkittykat · 25/04/2019 01:36

Part time mature student, sitting at 1.30am working on 2 essays due tomorrow night, one 750 words and the other 2000 words. Almost finished the first, and about 500 left on the second (they are linked) then the inevitable spending ages proofreading and getting it to fit the wordcount.

Another 1500 words due next Thursday, 2000 words mid may plus practical assessments.

FinalFurlongs · 25/04/2019 16:45

I feel so low. This essay is shit quality. If I managed to get about 65% I'd be able to get a First in the degree (because I'm on the edges with my average) but it's so shit I don't know if it's even going to pass. If I can pull it out of the bag it's only going to get about 50something% at best.

My whole degree classification is going down the toilet. I could cry.
