I don’t know what it is about the man but I find him annoying. I have no problem with either of his parents or the rest of the family but him ... there’s just something about him.

His photography is god awful and he has such a smug face!

AIBU or is he a bit unlikable?

(Disclaimer - light hearted!! I don’t despise the bloke or wish harm on him and yes I might be a bit jealous that he’s loaded and has done fuck all to earn any of it!) 😁

How about the general public showed a bit of kindness and consideration and stopped slagging them off on the internet? Why are so many people so full of hate

This

With great big bells on

Cbatothinkofaname · 24/04/2019 19:55

It’s not even about failing to protect their children in the case of the Beckhams. It’s about a deliberate decision to enrol them in ‘Brand Beckham’ before they’re old enough to consent. They post photos and videos of them going to school, eating breakfast, brushing their teeth, all the minutiae of daily life is thrust into the public eye. It’s not the children’s fault, it’s the parents. There must be huge pressure on each of them as they get older and become more aware and feel they shouldn’t step away and damage the brand.
I agreed that the OP is quite unpleasant because how can we possibly say we dislike or like someone without knowing them.
But the thread has led to discussion about celebrity parents which is quite interesting

goldenchicken · 24/04/2019 19:58

Agree with you @Cbatothinofaname ^ No wonder Paul McCartney shielded his kids from fame for many years. Johnny Depp did too. And a few other celebs.

TinklyLittleLaugh · 24/04/2019 20:10

I feel a bit sorry for Brooklyn, he’s definitely a bit directionless.

But most men go for someone like their mum don’t they? For instance DS tells me his new girlfriend is intellectually curious and absolutely gorgeous.

DH is obviously the exception to this rule though as late MiL was an absolute psycho controlling bitch.

goldenchicken · 24/04/2019 20:11

@TinklyLittleLaugh ^ Grin

EdWinchester · 24/04/2019 20:18

I really hate that the Beckhams pimp out their kids at every opportunity.

It's not Brooklyn's fault. He's exactly the same age as my son and I can't help but compare them a bit. He has undoubtedly had access to the best education but seems to be doing, what?

They should know enough about the downsides of celebrity and attempt to shield their kids from it, not court it.

Jeschara · 24/04/2019 20:21

Nasty post. He is a young man born to celebrity parents. Not his fault. Nothing light hearted about this thread just ignorant bitching.

Roussette · 24/04/2019 20:36

I don't agree. I think the majority of the posters aren't having a go at BB. They are feeling sorry for him and saying that D&V are in the wrong for exposing their DCs endlessly to publicity.

LuvSmallDogs · 24/04/2019 20:37

Well I reckon it must be pretty shit to get papped crying during an argument so I feel bad for him on that score. Don’t know anything else about him though, only know about the crying due to googling off the back of this thread. If he isn’t a rapist, drunk driver or poor parent or something then he’s a lot better than a lot of other celebs, so...🤷‍♀️

Sparklesocks · 24/04/2019 20:41

He’s only 20, even without money and fame 20 year olds are still learning who they are and can be a bit self involved. Seems mean to make a thread dedicated to disliking him!

potatopeelings · 24/04/2019 20:50

You see, what you have to do is this:

In order to get any peace at all, and to make the sharks paps go away and not spend their lives standing outside your house with long-range lenses and fast motorcycles at the ready, you have to feed them little morsels occasionally (with what you are prepared to allow them to have) and then the sharks stop circling and leave you alone for a few days. They get their stories and their photos, and you get a little peace and at least a little bit of control over what is published.

It is a trade-off you have to make because you know only too well that if you don't play ball every now and again, the journos will concoct a pack of lies and publish that instead.

blacksax · 24/04/2019 20:54

it must be pretty shit to get papped crying

And you would have to be a monumental shit to enjoy taking the photo, to sell it to the highest bidder and get it published worldwide.

Cbatothinkofaname · 24/04/2019 21:04

Why on earth did the parents decide to do this to their children? Admittedly the brand wouldn’t have quite the impact it does without the kids, but DB and VB would still be celebrities, they’d each be successful in their own right and could lead a charmed life, keeping their children well away from the spotlight so that we wouldn’t even know what they look like. The older kids could be going out in the evening, going on dates etc without being papped. Why did the parents do this to them?

MeakTiger · 24/04/2019 21:12

He has wealth and fame but he has been brought up with a lot of dysfunction. I think it is harsh to dislike him when you don’t know him.

His father on the other hand. Grim behaviour and not a great role model.

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 24/04/2019 21:13

Sure mental health can affect affect anyone
But poverty, social difficulties, financial difficulties are all exacerbating factors
Money, family support, access to private paid for treatment all affect outcome and impact
Race is a factor,Black males are more likely to be sectioned and given higher doses of medication
So no one can’t ignore social factors and class when discussing mental health

ticketsonsalenow · 24/04/2019 21:27

The parents are not doing this to their children.

It is the unspeakable press and the hateful never-ending unmitigated sheer vindictive spite of the public who are at fault here.

Some people just enjoy saying really unpleasant things about other people for no good reason. Why is that? Why, as a civilised society, do we allow it?

Bowchicawowow · 24/04/2019 21:28

It’s really insulting to people suffering from mental health problems to suggest that if you aren’t poor you shouldn’t have it.

LettuceLeave · 24/04/2019 21:32

Don't think I'd class him as a man or bloke at age 20 😂 when does a lad become a bloke? Anyway... Literally have no opinion on him. I think I knew he was a model but I've not seen him or heard anything about him.

Sn0tnose · 24/04/2019 21:50

What the fuck is wrong with some of you?!

He is a kid. He has done nothing at all to deserve some of the spite that has been directed at him on this post. It's no wonder that the children of celebrities often have such problems when they have to deal with bollocks like this.

Look at your children. How would you feel if complete strangers who knew nothing about them decided to post online that they thought your child was crap at whatever they felt passionate about? Or they made judgements about their character because of a facial expression? Or they were making assumptions on your child's mental health because someone had seen them cry? Or they were judging your child because of things you'd done ten years ago? None of you would be ok with that. And none of your children would deserve it. Neither does he.

Sometimes, this forum is full of wonderful, funny, sharp, clever and supportive posters. Other times, it seems to be full of spiteful little bullying arseholes. Shame on some of you. Grow the fuck up.

Cbatothinkofaname · 24/04/2019 21:54

The parents are not doing this to their children.

Eh?

Who on earth do you think posts the endless videos/ insta stories/ photos chronicling every flipping thing they do? The parents could have kept their children out of the spotlight like many other celebrities do. Instead they’ve done the exact opposite and thrust them into it.

HairyToity · 24/04/2019 22:23

If i was a celebrity I would want my child to have a childhood where they are out of the media. They can then decide when they are older whether to pursue fame or take a different path. Also they would be unrecognised through childhood, not have their photos constantly taken, or be followed around. There would be less pressure. They would also not have to read about themselves in chat rooms, or have their personalities, achievements and looks analysed by strangers.

Roussette · 24/04/2019 22:25

The parents are not doing this to their children

?? How come then, no one could say what Chris Martin and Gwyneth's children look like, yet the Beckhams DCs have been plastered across instagram, twitter, and the press since they were born? Or Kate Moss's daughter, no one saw her face at all, it was pixellated out because KM protected her privacy fiecely until she got older. Or Adele - bet you don't even know if she's got a girl or a boy.

The Beckhams chose to put them out there, they pimped them out in the press, Brand Beckham and all that. Poor kids.

Roussette · 24/04/2019 22:30

Or George and Amal Clooney. Have you seen their twins? I haven't.

I blame the Beckhams totally. They made a stupid choice to expose them to the Press, the papparazi and publicity from day one. Selfish people.

TellerTuesday4EVA · 24/04/2019 22:31

There's a great deal of people (celebrity & real life) that I find unlikeable.... my opinion but I keep it to myself

Cbatothinkofaname · 24/04/2019 22:49

Exactly roussette. In fact I didn’t even know Adele’s had a baby!

Some celebrities guard their children’s privacy very stringently and we know next to nothing about them. Others aren’t quite so strict but but wouldn’t go out of their way to court publicity. The Beckhams are something else though! In fact I can’t think of any other British celebrity couple who have set out to turn their young children into a brand in this way. The closest it comes to in my mind is those families like the Jacksons and the Osmonds where the parents created a product at the expense of their children.
