For things that are agreed as gospel on MN

I'll start: I like dressing my kids in matching outfits and I really enjoy a Butlins holiday

I also don't think Nevaeh is that bad

OP posts:

Women who make their "stage of life" their work are twats.

(meaning/example: all of a sudden a woman who is in menopause becomes a "menopause warrior" and builds a business and social media persona based on this)

FuckingDelightful · 23/04/2019 10:02

WeCameToDance agree 1000%

IVF is a drop in the ocean of NHS spending. Especially when compared with treatment for people's abuse of their own bodies is taken into account and yet people cling to it and the whole 'a child is not a right mantra'. I suspect most of them have never dealt with fertility problems before.

I stick by my post further up thread saying I strongly believe that most would accept it without a second thought if they needed it to conceive. I seriously doubt anyone who says they would refuse it despite the pain of infertility because of the strain on the NHS.

CarolDanvers · 23/04/2019 10:02

Wren is a twee wispy name and I cannot fathom why it is so popular on MN.

Ellisandra · 23/04/2019 10:07

A man who “insists” on paying on a date is not a gentleman - he is a man who is pissing all over your wishes.

A woman who thinks a man is a gentleman for “insisting” is actually just a using freeloader.

GrandmaSharksDentures · 23/04/2019 10:08

Genuine contraceptive failure is very rare. Most "accidental" pregnancies are either planned or a result of not using the contraceptive as it should be used

derxa · 23/04/2019 10:09

Donald Trump doesn't really bother me.

greenelephantscarf · 23/04/2019 10:10

I like being called 'daaahling' or 'luv' by my lovely neighbours. took a bit getting used to

notacooldad · 23/04/2019 10:10

It's ok to call a night out with a group of women or a group of men 'a girls night out' or ' a night out with the lads" even if the average age of the group is 54!!

The80sweregreat · 23/04/2019 10:11

There is an IVF special on five live radio at the moment ( UK)

Whoever wrote about Meghan and Harry as a ' PR' disaster is correct. i hope i am proved wrong though.
I like the name Wren!! Its unusual.

BlingLoving · 23/04/2019 10:12

People who blank me on the playground or can't make basic small talk are idiots. I am not buying that they all have social anxiety or serious mental health issues.

thecatsthecats · 23/04/2019 10:12

The term chav IS judgemental, but it's also fine when correctly applied.

I would bet my share of the mortgage that those that eyebrow raise at the term strenuously avoid chavs in real life.

On the whole, actually, exercising judgement is fine, and helps draw the boundaries between who you will and won't successfully get on with. Half the problems on AIBU exist because people fail to exercise judgement at the early stages of a relationship, then are lumbered with unpleasant results thereafter.

The world's population is a mess. The best countries are those with the smallest population densities - ecologically and politically.

sockatoe · 23/04/2019 10:12

Parents who park on zigzags to drop their kids off are not usually the parents of high achieving, well behaved offspring

formerbabe · 23/04/2019 10:16

I don't have sympathy or care about people who have to care/sort out care for their elderly parents. Lucky you for having your parents around for so long.

greenelephantscarf · 23/04/2019 10:23

home education should be illegal

TheFastandCurious · 23/04/2019 10:29

I used to agree with this until Depo shot baby arrived. She’s 15 months and I continued to have the shot throughout my pregnancy as I had no clue I was pregnant. She was conceived around 6 weeks after getting the first shot.

As the consultant said, “you ain’t the first and won’t be the last” Smile

Prequelle · 23/04/2019 10:30

People shouldn't have to make small talk with those who can't bear silence

takemeouttonight · 23/04/2019 10:30

I like grey interior and decoration and think mrs hinch has a beautiful home

Catchingbentcoppers · 23/04/2019 10:32

Pregnancy is not an illness. (Unless you are actually unwell etc).

JuniorAsparagus · 23/04/2019 10:33

Who is Mrs Hinch?

formerbabe · 23/04/2019 10:35

To think "take in ironing" is a really ill thought out 'solution' to someone's financial problems.

TatianaLarina · 23/04/2019 10:35

Ime genuine contraceptive failure is not uncommon.

Moralitym1n1 · 23/04/2019 10:36

I do not care one jot about climate change

Then you don't care about anything on this planet - people, animals ...

TheFastandCurious · 23/04/2019 10:37

Me too takemeouttonight

CarolDanvers · 23/04/2019 10:38

If a person was vomiting and exhausted and grew a mass weighing up to ten pounds on their stomach, if their legs and fingers swelled up and they regularly felt faint or actually fainted and suffered shortness of breath due to previously mentioned mass pressing against lungs, it would definitely be considered an illness. Pregnancy is NOT an illness by strict definition but the symptoms are often those of serious illness so I do really despise the idea that pregnant women should just get on with it because it's "not an illness".

Prequelle · 23/04/2019 10:38

Most contraceptive failure that I've ever discussed wasn't actual contraceptive failure but rather user error or user indifference.

Except from the coil. Seen quite a few ectopics in people with the coil :(
