I want to hear about your good or bad encounters with a celebrity/famous person please! In the late nineties I met the chef Ainsley Harriot at a London train station when I was cueing to buy a ticket! I was very excited about this and told him I loved the show Ready Steady Cook which he was on at the time, he was really nice and chatty but I didn't get his autograph though! More recently about 2 years ago Ray Winston was sitting at the table beside us in a Chinese restaurant but we didn't get to speak as he was engrossed in conversation. I nearly forgot Todd Carty aka Mark from East Enders used to use our local newsagent in the morning on way to Elstree again in the nineties, he was always very smiley and drove a little MG!

My DB is a pilot so has flown a few celebs. One being David Beckham who was really nice.
But he said he loveliest celeb he’s flown was Noel Edmunds. A few people have mentioned him so he must be an all round good egg!

supersop60 · 23/04/2019 17:43

I worked with Alfie Boe before he was famous, and sang at his 21st Birthday. He's exactly the same now!

Superreader123 · 23/04/2019 17:45

I've worked on a project that had Christopher Eccleston in it and he was fantastic, reece douglas was also very nice, signed some personalised autographs for my daughters, Stephen graham again also very nice

wavyneighbour · 23/04/2019 17:46

Harold Macmillan, Mary Warnock

Jellybubbamama0987 · 23/04/2019 17:46

Worked in a petrol station in a small town so any famous person was shocking lol
Warwick Davis- tiny-had to reach over the counter to pass him the card machine-quite shy really
Barbara Dickson-lovely-quiet and unassuming-strong Scottish accent
Jim Broadbent-quiet-shy
Corrine Drewery (swing out sister) crazy woman-lovely though
Patrick Mower-arsehole-up himself-he’s the only “famous” person I’ve met who I despise
Japanese superbike rider- can’t remember his name-didn’t say much
My mum met Roy chubby Brown-said he was most loveliest person in real life-gave my very underage nephew merch lol she also met the reverend from neighbours once-how the hell she knew who he was I’ll never know but he was lovely too. Think we were really lucky that all the people we’ve met have been great. They are just people at the end of the day and I treated them like that while I served them plus I never asked for autographs so maybe that’s why lol

Superreader123 · 23/04/2019 17:49

Likewise, I've met a few that I idolised when I was younger and found they're not approachable, I understand they might be stressed or have family matters but at the end of the day they do a job and should be a bit more respectful.

Vintagewannabe · 23/04/2019 17:49

Leo sayer in a lift at a hotel in London - nice chap
Jamie Oliver - tosser, very rude
Mathew Bose from emmerdale has washed my hair! Again nice chap :)
Danny macnamara from embrace in the train station asked if we wanted his autograph but I declined as I wasn’t a fan lol

Adventuremommy · 23/04/2019 17:50

Many years ago I got on the train at Chester- absolutely sobbing my heart out. My grandad had died a few hours earlier and I was making the dreaded journey back to my parents.
I didn’t realise that I had sat opposite Jeff Banks. It was him until the ticket inspector offered me water and a tissue that I noticed who I was sat opposite. Not once did he look up and ask if I was ok.

ElinoristhenewEnid · 23/04/2019 17:51

Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby - really lovely man.
Ian Hislop

LittleMissHappy19 · 23/04/2019 17:52

@Cantfindafreeusername tell us more!!!!

We need more names than that..I'm obsessed with Phil and Holly (I know I need to get a life!) but love This Morning Blush

Have you ever met them?

LittleMissHappy19 · 23/04/2019 17:53

@Jessie94 God I can't be left hanging like that by you either!!

TwigTheWonderKid · 23/04/2019 17:57

I was once at a children's birthday party with Paula Yates, Michael Hutchence, Bob Geldof and Jeanne Marine. That was (not) fun.

Have also met Patsy Kensit and Jim Kerr. They were both lovely. Also, on the lovely list were Gary Kemp, Brendan Cole, Susanna Reid, and the loveliest was Floella Benjamin. Didn't like Benedict Cumberbatch much.

Oh, adn I stood next to Johnny Depp in the queue for passport control at Eurostar. He is very short.

mckenzie · 23/04/2019 17:57

Boris Becker in a restaurant back in his heyday. I got the courage up to go and speak to him, in German, to ask if I could have his autograph for my friend's boyfriend whose 30th birthday is was the next day. My german was okay-ish but he replied in perfect English, asked me to join him and his guest for a drink (I think the other guy was part of his coaching team) and proceeded to be absolutely charming.

So much so that I completely forgot that I'd left my boyfriend behind at the table, by himself.

Luckily said boyfriend was quite new (and keen I think) and didn't get too fed up. He's now DH.

Serenity45 · 23/04/2019 17:57

Wayne and Colleen Rooney (about 12 years ago) in Barbados. We were in a very exclusive bar which was almost empty and myself and friend had been having a giggle with the barman. Wayne and Colleen came in and we deliberately just said 'hi' and didn't make a big deal of it. I'd never disturb someone on their holidays. Barman then asked why we hadn't asked for an autograph etc and said Wayne really wouldn't mind at all.

Reluctantly went over and ended up having a lovely few minute chat with them both, got autograph which my brother ( a HUGE fan) still has. Wayne was very sunburned, bless him but they were a genuinely nice down to earth couple.

Gareth Southgate over 20 years ago when he played for Aston Villa. My boyfriend at the time was a bouncer in a bar he very occasionally went to. Seemed like a lovely genuine guy back then (always had a chat with the bouncers and sent drinks over, remembered me and commented how patient I was to be there while ex worked).

John Barrowman a few years ago after a panto. Lovely lovely guy unbelievably good looking in real life (and I don't fancy him at all). There was a very erm enthusiastic scary superfan waiting for him and he couldn't have been more patient and kind

Jack Charlton walking down a street in Birmingham at about 7am many years ago. I was massively start struck and we made eye contact but I was too shy and was on my way to work so we had a 'moment' where he gave me a smile and a wink and we both walked on.

Letitia Dean (plays Sharon in Eastenders) - got chatting in a pub after she'd been in panto. Had almost lost her voice but was very self deprecating and chatty and down to earth (we were both waiting to be served and she didn't try to push in).

Juan Pablo Angel when he played for Aston Villa in HMV in Birmingham. Google him if you don't know the name because he was so bloody good looking I nearly passed out haha. Never usually make an idiot of myself over good looking blokes (I've been out with a couple of models who were fit as anything) but he was something else Blush

I very briefly dated Simon Lowe (unfamous but slightly recognisable actor) as a teenager and he wasn't very nice back then but I was too young and naive to realise. My friend texted when he was on Eastenders as Derek Evans (I don't watch it) to say "oooh he hasn't aged well!" Grin Grin

He is better know as the "did she just shake her TicTacs at me?" advert man Hmm

SamSoSer · 23/04/2019 17:57

Dylan McDermott (smelled lovely)Ryan Seacrest(super annoying), Aled Jones, Alfie Boe, Michael Ball (all professional and very focused, but great people), Pete Waterman ( terrible jokes),
Tara Palmer Tomkinson and her sister Santa Montefiore at a wedding, both were tipsy and wanted to see what I had in my bag🤷‍♀️ and Gerard Butler ( before the action movies)
I’m a singer so I get to meet lots of different people doing session work.
I still talk to some of them, but not telling you who😂

Jessie94 · 23/04/2019 17:57

@LittleMissHappy19 I would love to tell more but due to non disclosures I can't!

Lweji · 23/04/2019 17:58

Boris Becker in a restaurant back in his heyday.

Was that when he got some waitress pregnant?

AnotherWickedWitch · 23/04/2019 17:59

The Queen mother, Boyzone, Jamie Borthwick (Jay in Eastenders), Jim Davidson all lovely.

tipsytrainee46 · 23/04/2019 17:59

Pat Phelan from Corrie! In a Greek airport, boarding a flight back to Glasgow. I was the most excited person ever!

ThePix · 23/04/2019 18:03

I worked at a National Trust property where Sense and sensiblity was filmed. Met Alan Rickman (huge stage presence even the stars were in awe of him.. he was so nice 😥) Emma Thompson (a proper lovely luvvie) Kate Winslet (bit full of herself!) and Hugh Grant.. he was amazing... walked in on him changing his clothes during a fire alarm and he talked about me on local radio “being a charming young lady who evacuated him in his tights”
All in all pretty good star spotting 🤣
Also met the queen at a Buckingham palace garden party (again with the national trust) x

SamSoSer · 23/04/2019 18:05

What didn’t you like about Pierce?
He doesn’t like to be around star struck people who ask for autographs etc but he’s a lovely chap!
I sang at a wedding he was at and he bought a glass of Buck’s Fizz over to me. Had a lovely chat. Saw him again about 3 months later at a charity golf tournament, he remembered me and another nice chat.

Pugworld · 23/04/2019 18:05

I met Simon Webbe from Blue last weekend. He's a really nice, down-to-earth guy. We had a lovely chat.

SamSoSer · 23/04/2019 18:09

I won’t “tell all” either. I’d never work again 😂

NannyRed · 23/04/2019 18:09

I have met with Barry McGuigan, Ray Winston, Heston Blumenthal, Peter Purvis, Danny John Jules, all lovely people, also Mica Paris, Sting, Stephen Tompkinson, Nigel Havers, Denis Lawson, Jimmy Osmond, Keith Allen, Shaggy. All lovely.
Noddy Holder twice, a little grumpy.
Glynn Purnell is especially lovely, Dave Gorman, Sherrie Hewson and most of the cast of Benidorm. Sherrie is one of the nicest ladies in showbiz.
Alison Hammond, Joe Lycett and loads more. I’m rarely disappointed with the celebrities I meet. I guess I’m lucky with my line of work.

sajmeister · 23/04/2019 18:09
