How many Easter eggs do the DC get from you including from family?

OP posts:

My 4 year old is having a lindt egg and friends from us. His uncle have him a small surprise Maltese egg yesterday and my friend popped a buttons one in tonight. He will have an Easter egg hunt at my parents house tomorrow. He's still got a chocolate reindeer from Christmas so these will probably take the rest of the year to get through! Not cos I don't allow him to have it, he just wants a bit at a time!

HerRoyalNotness · 20/04/2019 20:56

One small one from us and a friend gVe them a Lindt bunny each. We did an egg/treat hunt today and they got some candy in plastic eggs (US way to do it), Easter cookies, water balloons and sidewalk chalk. Much less this year than last, I couldn’t be bothered stuffing the plastic eggs

Whathappenedtothelego · 20/04/2019 20:59

One large-ish egg and a book each from us.
A small choc bunny each from friend who came to stay.
Several chocolate novelties from a local egg hunt we went to.
Not seeing family over Easter, so not expecting eggs from them.

NicksWife08 · 20/04/2019 21:10

No eggs from us, this year they have a Lego set each.
From family they have 7 each this year.

londonliv · 20/04/2019 21:29

DS is 3 & has already been given a massive gift bag with sweets, big egg, 8 hen sized eggs, chocolate carrots & mini eggs. Plus an egg from MiL & I know my parents are giving a Lindt bunny & we have an Easter egg hunt tomorrow. All in all far too much chocolate - we'll ration some & eat the rest ourselves. We had also bought him an egg ourselves but seeing as he has such a ridiculous amount of chocolate we've decided to hold it back & give a puzzle instead

mamaduckbone · 20/04/2019 21:31

A big one each from us plus various mini eggs for a hunt (too old really at 13 and nearly 10 but it's tradition), plus some posh chocolate from grandparents and another big egg from their godfather.
Maybe some chocolate from my mum but it's more likely to be something little and a fiver in a card - she (correctly) thinks Easter eggs are overpriced.

collectingcpd · 20/04/2019 21:35

None from us. There are 2 small ones each from people I didn’t expect. GP will give them money instead

holly873 · 20/04/2019 21:41

One mini egg easter egg which had a mug and packet of mini eggs included. I don't like giving ds chocolate at the best of times so I only give him one easter egg. He'll no doubt get given more eggs over the next few days from uncles/aunties/grandparents etc.

Idonotlikeyoudonaldtrump · 20/04/2019 21:50

Just one from us and one from grandparents. We do a hunt with mini eggs and the eggs we give aren’t huge. Just the big standard pound shop ones.

Hopeygoflightly · 20/04/2019 21:57

One and then a fluffy toy type thing too usually from gPs

Elflocks · 21/04/2019 10:23

According to Google the average child, in the UK, receives 8.8 eggs. Does sound a lot, but they could be tiny ones! Smile

Zoflorabore · 21/04/2019 10:27

I ended up getting 16yr old da a huge Galaxy golden eggs one, the pinch of nom cookbook, a t shirt and a new electric toothbrush that he wanted.

8yr old dd got 2 medium eggs, a swimsuit, a dress and a book and a fancy pen.

They will get several from family but most of them give them money instead.

Chocolate for breakfast here :)

HavelockVetinari · 21/04/2019 10:30

DS is almost 2, he's had a great time this morning hunting for plastic eggs in the garden, each with a small chocolate button inside. That's all he's getting, he's too little for chocolate really.

hazeyjane · 21/04/2019 10:32

My 3 had about 20 small eggs (Easter egg hunt), one large egg and £10 each (Easter bunny was feeling flush)

U2HasTheEdge · 21/04/2019 10:59

This year I only got them one and my mum got them one too. They got some money from the inlaws.

I used to get them more but cut down this year and going out to eat today instead.

Preggosaurus9 · 21/04/2019 11:00

Zero. He's 2!

MonkeyfaceThereturn · 21/04/2019 11:27

Zero?! Thats harsh. It's easter!

CarolDanvers · 21/04/2019 11:28

Seven big ones each and that includes two that they got from family members, also £20 each.

LagunaBubbles · 21/04/2019 11:33

It drives me crazy. Christmas is the same with presents galore from people I have never even met. I know I sound ungrateful but why not buy her a book

Gosh how awful, having people in your childrens lives that buy them presents eh, what a hardship. Hmm

I've bought my kids 4 each. They don't have anyone else that buys them any at Easter. Or any other time of year for that matter.

user1511042793 · 21/04/2019 12:12

Around 18 from us and about 6/7 from relatives. I had one as a kid as we weren’t well off so I know I over compensate Grin

SoyDora · 21/04/2019 12:17

18?!

SoyDora · 21/04/2019 12:18

I had one as a kid and we were well off. I just thought (and still do think!) that one egg from your parents is normal and plenty!

Womble75 · 21/04/2019 12:39

One from us and one from Great Aunt. Also a few mini ones from the egg hunt this morning. They were both very happy with what they had ( DC are6 & 2)

ImNotHappyaboutitPauline · 21/04/2019 12:41

We get them one big one each and they always end up with at least 8 more from family, CM and friends. It's a lot but I can't get too worked up about it, I mean they're not being forced to eat them in a week!

I know some people suggest buying children a book or small gift instead and that's fine if people want to but DH and I have 11 nieces and nephews between us. That's a lot of time and effort in choosing suitable books or gifts and frankly we do enough of that for Xmas and birthdays without Easter turning into another thing. Plus there's the expense, I mean chocolate eggs are pretty cheap these days - decent sized eggs €6 each or 2 for €8 in our local supermarkets last week. There's no way I'd find suitable books or toys as cheap.

lyralalala · 21/04/2019 12:49

We don't buy them eggs. They get a huge number from DH's family so we do a few creme egg size ones for the hunt in the garden and that's it.

Last year we still had bars/sweets that come with eggs in August because they got so many.
