How many Easter eggs do the DC get from you including from family?

OP posts:
Stravapalava · 19/04/2019 21:50

We get the DC a toy and a small bunny. They get eggs from: both sets of grandparents, their auntie, their godparents and a couple of relatives on my DM's side. It's far too much, especially when the neighbours get involved & bring them small bunnies / creme eggs / packets of mini eggs etc.

Stravapalava · 19/04/2019 21:51

Oh yes, plus they go on 2-3 egg hunts plus breakfast with the Easter Bunny, so it's chocolate overload.

FilthyforFirth · 19/04/2019 21:52

DS has got 4 already and he isnt 2 until the summer Shock. We didnt get him one as I dont really want to encourage chocolate at his age. We got him some garden toys today and will probably let him eat one, slowly! The rest will stay in the cupboard until I have a crap day...

Monkeyssplit · 19/04/2019 21:52

They normally end up with 4 each from family.

xyzandabc · 19/04/2019 21:53

Ages 7-12. They get one from us that they choose, medium size Cadbury type one. That's it.

gotmychocolateimgood · 19/04/2019 21:54

Mine have already had a net of small eggs each from grandparents--we went away with them last week so did our egg hunt then. We are giving them a medium egg each and that's it. I bought one to donate to school for the Easter raffle and one for myself. DH isn't bothered. Other set of grandparents gave them pocket money instead which was kind and a nice change from more chocolates.

My opinion: nobody needs loads of eggs. Especially considering most people are overweight. If they are hanging around for weeks what's the point? ... Waste of money really. We enjoy the Easter break-- nice pub meal out, day out at the farm etc but without eating tons of eggs. One or two is a nice treat.

MuddyMoose · 19/04/2019 21:55

This is what we've got our 2 year old DS. Most are individually wrapped so can be stored & given over time (he's not a huge chocolate lover anyway). We did the same with his stocking & he's only just finished the individually wrapped chocolates. He will get one or two small eggs off family too.

Three each - and a present of clothing from one relative. This will last them months and then they will forget about them and I'll eat them.

Who am I kidding? I'll start nibbling them like a ninja from Easter Monday.

Am quite glad they don't get more. Was thinking earlier I remember getting flipping hundreds (well maybe 8-10) as a kid. I think we had more aunties and cousins in our orbit than my kids do and that was why. Was ridiculous though. I don't know how we got through them (I assume my parents also nibbled like ninjas at them to save us from ourselves).

Gertie75 · 19/04/2019 21:57

dd's are 4 and 6, they've had 4 bought for them and I've got them a pack of 20 creme egg sized ones, 2 Cadbury bunnies, 2 lindt bunnies, small packs of mini eggs, Easter jelly sweets and a big cuddly chick and rabbit.

They won't eat them all in one go though, it's a few weeks worth of chocolate.

HelpIcantfindaname · 19/04/2019 22:06

DD10 has a couple from me plus a choc bunny, (I've also got her new clothes & books), 1 from my bf, 1 from her big brother, 1 from my friend & a few from her dads family (some of those are left at her dads). Usually I buy eggs for my DGC & my grown up daughters buy for DD10. But this year we decided just to buy a bit extra for the egg hunt...so loads of choc lollies, little eggs, tiny bunnies, choc coins etc. They will last quite a while, & I'll have to make sure my willpower is lasting as my diet starts again on Tuesday!

KittyInTheCradle · 19/04/2019 22:06

One small easter egg, one packet of mini eggs, a small Lindt bunny. Extended family will give more I'm sure.

GunpowderGelatine · 19/04/2019 22:12

Mine are 5 and 2, we buy new clothes for them instead of Easter eggs as they get at least 4 each of family members and it's just too much really!

Titsywoo · 19/04/2019 22:16

Mine are teens and they get 1 large and 1 medium size egg each from us and a few small ones in an easter egg hunt (yes we still do them!). They both like chocolate but this amount tends to last over a month. DS also gave up pudding for lent so he is due some sweet treats!

Yousicktwistedfruit · 19/04/2019 22:17

I haven’t got my niece 5 any chocolate this year because she gets stupid amounts of Easter eggs from the extended family I’very got her a box of 3 trolls jig saw puzzles she loves doing those and a make your own unicorns set. I think that’s better than adding to her pile of chocolate

SmallPinkBear · 19/04/2019 22:18

As a child we got a small egg from my parents, one from my grandma on df side and some creme eggs of gp on dm side.

Personally we are not giving our dd (3) an egg as my dh’s Family go a bit crazy.
DD has already had a medium sized twirl egg from a friend of my MIL and an egg from FIL. I know she will get an egg from BIL, MIL and MIL’s DS & DB and probably more on top of that.
It drives me crazy. Christmas is the same with presents galore from people I have never even met. I know I sound ungrateful but why not buy her a book Hmm

mustdrinkwaternotwine · 19/04/2019 22:25

My DC get usually get 2 (one from us, one from my parents) but MIL brought some on her most recent visit which was a surprise. We also do Easter egg hunts so I have a selection of small eggs for that (the DC like to hide eggs for us as well as us hiding for them).

Shutuptodd · 19/04/2019 22:26

None but they do get one from a family member. I've never really done anything for Easter.

Hadenoughofitall441 · 19/04/2019 22:27

Dc are getting 1 each from the 3aster bunny, they’ve had one each from my dad and his wife and my mum has got them some, no doubt my uncle will get them one each too, so they are not getting chocolate from me. Just got dd an L.O.L doll and DS a roblox voucher. I know they’d appreciate it more.

gingerbiscuits · 19/04/2019 22:27

1 large one from each set of grandparents (x3) & 1 large one from us! Used to do a little 'hunt' when he was younger but not now - he's almost 12yrs old. That's plenty in my book . He's really appreciative & always chuffed with what he gets.

Youngandfree · 19/04/2019 22:28

Well my mum bought them an Easter egg already so I’m not buying another (call me cheeky) so they Have one...no need for more imo

Ribbonsonabox · 19/04/2019 22:30

One each. But both are preschool age.
I think when they get older I'll get them more.
I think it's silly to buy a 3yo several large chocolate eggs... I buy my son a big one and my baby daughter a small one. I use the Easter money sent by ILs to take them out for Sunday lunch and if theres any left over I give it to my son to buy a toy from the shop.

OkOkWhatsNext · 19/04/2019 22:31

My three get none from us. We did the school PTA Easter egg hunt where they got one, they got choc treats from teachers at the end of term too, one from a sports club they go to, one from the holiday club they went to, and we have a family egg hunt on Monday at which there’ll be small eggs for them to find. Sometimes we do a national trust egg hunt. Seems v v unnecessary for us (or any other family members!) to buy them another one after all that!

Littlechocola · 19/04/2019 22:32

One small one from us, one medium size egg from our landlord/landlady. They obviously love them more than we do Wink
Children are all teens.

Longdistance · 19/04/2019 22:33

Dds are 9 and 7. Will be getting a large size egg, some mini eggs and a T-shirt. That is enough as far as I’m concerned. They get loads from relatives.

MumOfDiamonds · 19/04/2019 22:34

My DS14 and DD10 get one each from us, my sister made them cornflake buns and they will get an egg each off each set of grandparents. I think that is more then enough. When they were younger I use to make them little hampers with one medium egg, a chocolate bunny and a few little eggs.
