I've just watched Tenable and the thing I thought it was called didn't make the top ten of names.

I'm honestly, genuinely shocked. I thought it was really common and would be the most obvious answer.

(Pinger)

YESSS! someone else calls it a pinger! I feel vindicated. Somewhat. Although it took 190 posts to get there.

I thought my friend was weird for calling it the 'buttons'.

Doofer!

catinboots99 · 18/04/2019 17:15

I remember the first time we got one when I was a kid (80s) and my parents called it the clicker and still do.

I can't actually believe before that we used to have to get up and change channels/do the volume etc 😱

No wonder we're all so fat

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 18/04/2019 17:16

Remote control

ZippyBungleandGeorge · 18/04/2019 17:16

Remote/remote control, however the buttons rings a vague bell from my childhood. Text DM, it wasn't called anything other than the remote in our house or by anyone she can remember, this will drive me mad now

mcjx · 18/04/2019 17:16

It's a remote control

RomanyQueen1 · 18/04/2019 17:17

remote or remote control

poglets · 18/04/2019 17:18

We called it the conticator. No idea why. And it's still called that now with my kids. Quirks. 🤷‍♀️

NanooCov · 18/04/2019 17:18

Doofer

NanooCov · 18/04/2019 17:18

Or the buttons

ZippyBungleandGeorge · 18/04/2019 17:19

OP if I had to hazard a guess at what a pinger was I'd say microwave, 'how do I heat this up? Oh just ping it for three minutes'

Myusernameismud · 18/04/2019 17:23

DSiL and her kids call it 'the buttons'.

We call it the Moken Troller. Obviously....

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 18/04/2019 17:23

Dillywicker! Can’t believe nobody else has said that!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 18/04/2019 17:25

We say pinger OP! And I INVENTED IT!

Well done Sabbatical

Wacadu · 18/04/2019 17:25

The 'trol in our house, then DP moved in and tried to convert everybody to say remote. Didn't work.

supadupapupascupa · 18/04/2019 17:28

Zapper

CosilyRosily · 18/04/2019 17:28

Fat controller!

Bobblebop · 18/04/2019 17:31

Prodder in our house! I thought that was the actual name of it until I was a teenager Grin

flourella · 18/04/2019 17:32

We called it the oracle, after the old teletext service.

alfagirl73 · 18/04/2019 17:33

Button, doofer or remote.

Widdendream77 · 18/04/2019 17:35

smurfy2015 · 18/04/2019 17:36
