To get a welcome package for neighbour moving in tomorrow?

We have a new neighbour moving in tomorrow, I’ve never met them but I used to live in the house until it was sold about 8 months ago.

I moved next door as it came up for rent when our landlord gave us notice.

I have a small hamper basket and was going to write the bin collection times, useful info like posties name, some tea, coffee, biscuits etc. Just some bits for moving in day.

Is there anything else that would be good? Or helpful?

If more people thought like this maybe there wouldn't be as many miserable dickheads about

Basically this. Anyone who would be creeped out by a nice welcome basket needs to relax a bit! I do think MN has a disproportionate number of antisocial people who find the idea of a "hello" from a neighbour terrifying in case they are forced to go for coffee mornings and join the parish council.

My neighbours are nice - we say hello and exchange pleasantries but don't invade each others's space. We do however feed each other's cats, take in parcels allow each other to block our drives (with permission) occasionally. It just makes life easier to be nice to people you live next door to!

Well said HomeMadeMadness.
There are some extremely paranoid posters on this thread.

That's very thoughtful but... A bit OTT perhaps?

Moving in day is always mental... Frankly, I'd leave them alone for the first 24 hours at least, and then perhaps pop around with a pot-plant or a cake on a disposable plate, and a smile. Then leave. A full hamper of stuff isn't expected, or necessary.
Perhaps a few days later you could push a list through the door with the numbers of the local takeaway, a good plumber, a window cleaner, an odd-job guy, bin days etc.
You can be friendly and welcoming, without having to get right up in their face.

How about a light bulb?

Sorry to disappoint people who haven't RTFT but gift of welcome card, prosecco and foxes bisects was given yesterday.

I haven't seen them since but I've been busy as usual as have they. I have seen some gorgeous plants in the garden though so massively impressed they are able to keep plants alive, unlike myself.
