To worry my sterilization has failed?

Chickaletta16 · 16/04/2019 23:43

Please humour me folks

I was sterilised 4 years ago after 4 children.. and 4 months ago had unprotected sex with my bf. We have since split up but despite the fact I'm in on a strict diet and go to the gym daily, I am steadily gaining 2llbs a week and can often feel flutters in my belly. I keep telling myself.im imagining it as I still have regular periods...

BUT is there any chance I could be.pregnant Shock

🤷🏼‍♀️

You need to pee on a stick.

MagicKingdomDizzy · 16/04/2019 23:45

Why are you asking Mumsnet?

How would any of us know?

Take a test Confused

Duh.

Falafel19 · 16/04/2019 23:48

Of course there's a chance, my mil's failed, she actually got pregnant twice after it! Hadn't closed one tube properly apparently.

bodgersmash · 16/04/2019 23:48

How do you find time to go to the gym daily when you are a single parent to four children Shock

But, yeah, we can't tell you the answer to this, OP. You need to POAS.

Ijustwanttochill · 16/04/2019 23:51

I'm guessing there is always a chance it fails, same as vasectomys. If you are four months gone then a test will show up positive, do one in the morning xx

Chickaletta16 · 16/04/2019 23:58

I just wondered if any of you had heard of sterilization failing that's all..

@bodgersmash lol I also work.. go to college and am currently setting up my own business.. I'm trying to build a good life for my children x

I'll do a test in the morning..

Now you are just bragging Grin

I hope you get the result you want. I never weighed myself when I was pregnant, is 2lb a week standard weight gain in pregnancy? could it be your age?

Chickaletta16 · 17/04/2019 00:13

It might be my age..I'm a very young 42 lol

OP posts:
Rtmhwales · 17/04/2019 00:13

I haven't been sterilized but I'm steadily gaining about 2lbs a week out of nowhere the past month and a half and feeling weird flutters that felt exactly like my DS felt. And I've never gained weight like this - I was under 8st and 5'4 my whole adult life. I've tested negative repeatedly over the past two months but like you I keep becoming convinced I'm pregnant. Hope your test is negative!

TrixieFranklin · 17/04/2019 00:15

I wouldn't have thought so but you never know I suppose! Best of luck OP.

mightskys · 17/04/2019 00:17

I'm 32 and I've been gaining 2lb a week. Nothing to do with the chocolate and take aways, definitely not Wink All you can do is take a test and then see what it says.

Lizzie48 · 17/04/2019 00:30

You’ll just need to take the tes, that’s the only way to find out.

Lizzie48 · 17/04/2019 00:31

I meant test obviously! Blush

Fiveredbricks · 17/04/2019 00:43

More likely a growth than a baby at 2lbs per week 😳

stucknoue · 17/04/2019 00:44

Yes, I know someone who got pregnant after tubal ligation, and someone else after their dh had a vasectomy (complete with clear test after 1 month and 3 months) but they were both young (under 30) and apparently that increases failure rates. Take a test - but it could also be age, my tummy "flutters" and it's excess gas!

MrMakersFartyParty · 17/04/2019 00:49

As a midwife I can confirm you are pregnant.

Scott72 · 17/04/2019 01:34

Female and male sterilizations can reverse, but it is very rare. Isn't this more likely to be some other condition? Perimenopause maybe? Of course it is quick and easy to rule out pregnancy.

Chickaletta16 · 18/04/2019 12:54

So I did a test and it was negative. Im just fat and full of gas then. Blush

Get your thyroid checked.

Chickaletta16 · 25/04/2019 21:23

Hello again. I've had my thyroid checked and my weight has increased by about 2 pounds a week. I just did another tesco pregnancy test and there is a hairline type vertical line barely visible. I've tried to take a picture . Is it a positive or could it be a false positive ? I'm so shocked.

OP posts:
Chickaletta16 · 25/04/2019 21:27

Here is the picture. It's not clear here but there is a very fine vertical line in the large force along running across the thicker line.

To worry my sterilization has failed?
OP posts:
NoAngel1 · 25/04/2019 21:28

I can see the line too. But surely it’d be a clearer line as wouldn’t you be about 18 weeks along?! Do you have a bump??

goose1964 · 25/04/2019 21:30

I was sterilised 26 years ago and spent most of my fertile years with flutters, I'm now post menops and still get them. There are plenty of conditions that cause weight gain that aren't pregnancy. Here's hoping your aren't.

Luckystar1 · 25/04/2019 21:33

Those Tesco tests are TERRIBLE. I’ve had lots of lines like that on them and haven’t been pregnant. Get a first response.
