To think that plane seats are WAY too small?

I've just flown long haul...a 7 hour and then a 12 hour journey.

I am a small person, short and light....about a size UK10. It was AGONY. My back hurt and my legs hurt and I was so uncomfortable on the 12 hour stretch that I thought I'd go loopy.

I really felt for the man next to me who wasn't at all fat but was a very big guy....tall and with huge shoulders and all that. He was obviously worse off than me....how on earth do people who're larger cope? It must actually hurt them?

I think having three seats together as they do on Emirates is awful...and that as people are now larger than ever, they should seriously consider making them bigger.

The only way to get through long haul is get up and move around regularly

I agree, but only if you can. I have been in long haul flights where the mixture of the trolley going up and down the aisle, queues for the toilets and seatbellt signs on, mean that your opportunity to get up and move about is very limited, or at least difficult. In no other mode of transport are you expected to sit down without a break, for such ling periods of time.

Nonsense. Once they've done the first main meal service, it all quietens down (usually the lights go down too) and most people sleep, read, watch IFE. There are literally HOURS to get up and move about, or even just stand up. If you really absolutely genuinely cannot leave your seat the whole entire time for some unknown reason, then there are lots of in-seat exercises you can do to keep blood moving.

Justaboy did you watch the recent "Race Across the World" show on BBC? Great premise and very good watching!
