I know, I know not all Leavers are racist, really, I do know that. But the (lovely, non racist) Leavers must be able to see this, they really cant be blind to the unsavoury characters and groups promoting Brexit for all their worth. I don't know what can be done about this, if there's any way to put these groups back in the box?

And leave voters are labelled thick.............

BoneyBackJefferson · 15/04/2019 17:35

native
/ˈneɪtɪv/
noun
1.
a person born in a specified place or associated with a place by birth, whether subsequently resident there or not.

Fjfs · 15/04/2019 17:35

OP you know that you can be a Leaver and not an extremist racist, a Nazi, a member of the KKK or any other 'unsavoury' group you wish to affiliate us to.

You do realise you're addressing 52% of voters?

PortiaCastis · 15/04/2019 17:35

Everybody living their cosy lives huh that's a joke and the thousands of immigrants who live in caravans on the farms are not cosy nor are the folk who have been hounded out by racial harassment.

Fjfs · 15/04/2019 17:36

That's the word 'native'. Why don't you google 'indigenous'.

Fjfs · 15/04/2019 17:37

Where are these caravans?

BoneyBackJefferson · 15/04/2019 17:38

Fjfs

I did and if you could read you would see that I have replied to you up thread.

But hey don't break your neck when you fall off that horse.

GregoryPeckingDuck · 15/04/2019 17:41

To be very honest I actually don’t dislike say it out loud straightforward racism as much as the middle class British style of racism where they hold ridiculous prejudices but never voice them so they can conveniently ignore them (just like they ignore people who aren’t white). If anything you’ll find the two groups believe the same nonsense (go back to where you came from as opposed to but where do you really come from, immigrants are a drain on the system v don’t send their children to prestigious private schools or earn megabucks and so on). At least the scummy type of racist is honest. The best middle class racist will never admit to themselves even what they are 🤷‍♀️

vdbfamily · 15/04/2019 17:41

I personally think Brexit- has revealed to me a horrible horrible vitriolic streak I many of my remained friends who I would now never dare tell them how I voted. They are so vicious and so convinced that all Brexit- voters are thick ignorant racist morons. It is quite shocking.

Fjfs · 15/04/2019 17:42

Is this the 'Remainers are Idiots' thread or something?

InternetArgument · 15/04/2019 17:45

In this country the group likeliest to fail, which attracts the least per capita funding and fewest headlines is white working class boys.

scaryteacher · 15/04/2019 17:46

I think what has emerged for me during the whole process is how little our votes stand for. If Brexit does not happen, then we are not an active part of the democratic process, but merely a unit there to be taxed and data harvested. We are acted upon, rather than acting. I think that is dangerous for society and for democracy. It leads to people feeling disenfranchised, and whilst we can bash a keyboard and let out our frustrations on here, others don't perhaps have that recourse, and where does that lead to?

A PP mentioned that if you don't adhere to the narrative of the left, then you are perceived as far right. That is dangerous as well, and it is not only in the UK that this is a problem. I was in Stockholm last week, and the feeling there according to those I spoke to was that if the 'elites' continue to ignore those who elect them, and try to cast those who aren't left wing as far right, there will be trouble ahead.

PortiaCastis · 15/04/2019 17:47

Lots of caravans are here in Cornwall Fjfs but they're all over the Country and house fruit and flower pickers
These folk were apparently rescued

Theresa May sending vans out with Go Home on the side when she was Home Secretary, if that's not racism? We have a right wing government who are using racism to cover up the fact that the majority of leave voters voted to leave because they are sick to death of the way this government is draining the wealth of this country & hitting the poor & vulnerable hardest.

Yogurty · 15/04/2019 18:05

InternetArgument
I agree that there is plenty of evidence that white, working class boys as a group achieve less well in tests and exams at school than their peers. I’m not sure what you mean by “attract the least per capita funding”, though, and I also don’t understand the point you’re making.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 15/04/2019 18:21

There's been a nasty undercurrent in this country as long as I've been alive. The "no dogs, no blacks, no Irish" signs to islamophobia. Brexit has legitimised hate. People see politicians dog whistlings and think it is acceptable to use hate filled language.

Xenophobia and othering seems to be government policy. Go home vans, citizens of nowhere, queue jumpers.

Phrases likes "elites" and "betrayal" attempt to wrap Brexit up as some sort of working class revolution. It is anything but. The only people who will benefit from Brexit are old Etonians and bankers.

Aeroflotgirl · 15/04/2019 18:25

I agree, unfortunately it is the far right fascists that voted to leave. I feel that we are being lumped with them.

BollocksToBrexit · 15/04/2019 18:26

A poster on this thread has likened Leavers to the KKK.

Only in the imagination of someone with poor comprehension skills.

bellinisurge · 15/04/2019 18:36

Putting the words Leaver and the phrase KKK in one sentence does not mean one is being likened to the other ffs.
Again, who is the enemy here? It's racist scumbags and I'm sure we all don't want them to worm their way in. And these scumbags are trying to worm their way into the mainstream via Leave.

Fjfs · 15/04/2019 18:37

@BollocksToBrexit
Why mention the KKK on a Brexit Leavers thread then?

Fjfs · 15/04/2019 18:38

these scumbags are trying to worm their way into the mainstream via Leave.

Who do you think will listen to them? 52% of voters?

justarandomtricycle · 15/04/2019 18:40

I feel like as a nation we're caught between two groups of fascists.

I don't think the "you shouldn't be allowed to vote" variety cares about the rest of us any more than the BNP variety. In a way they're worse because they have all the power and the money and the media influence in the country.

bellinisurge · 15/04/2019 18:40

Not my vote they are riding on the back of. UKIP is too overtly racist even for Farage (his lot not much better). Doesn't that give you pause for thought if you vote for them?

rosie39forever · 15/04/2019 18:43

The scum bags have already wormed their way into the mainstream, the daily mail is the most popular newspaper in the country and the majority of its readers believe every word written along with the express and for the truly hard of thinking the sun, they have catagorically owned the leave vote and used it to force their agenda onto somewhat more moderate people.

Peregrina · 15/04/2019 18:45

The home counties usually work in London in highly paid jobs in Finance.

No, there's an awful lot of comfortably off pensioners where the husband at least has a good final salary pension, (less so little wifey) and they bought their houses thirty or so years ago and have finished paying their mortgages ages ago. Plus nice little inheritances from parents who also saw house prices rocket.
