Leaving a child to drink

GrandTheftWalrus · 15/04/2019 00:02

One of my friends just admitted she leaves her 1 year old sleeping to go to the pub!

I have a 2 year old and I feel guilty at leaving her to go along to to the bin shute

Is this normal or am I right to be horrified?

Left at home with some else - ok
Left at home alone - SS referral.

What Faster said.

KateTTC123 · 15/04/2019 00:06

This is the headline in many a news story that ends in disaster for one or both of them. It is NOT ok and totally unsafe. If she won't listen to reason them ss really need to be involved.

Expressedways · 15/04/2019 00:07

Totally normal if there’s another adult at home e.g. partner, relative or paid babysitter.

Completely negligent if she’s leaving the baby home alone- agree it should be reported to social services.

Which is it?

PastaPins · 15/04/2019 00:07

Please tell me she leaves them with someone else and not alone! Shock

MrsTerryPratchett · 15/04/2019 00:07

You have a legal duty to report this if the child is alone.

gauntletthrown · 15/04/2019 00:08

If she leaves child alone you need to alert services.

Imadehimlikethat · 15/04/2019 00:09

Please report to SS the next time you know she's out. Imagine if anything happened to the baby, you'd never forgive yourself

Madein1995 · 15/04/2019 00:14

Please report to SS. unless this is a wind up and they're really being minded by granny, then this mum and more importantly her baby, need intervention

donajimena · 15/04/2019 00:16

Call social services Wink

Dramaqueen2019 · 15/04/2019 00:24

social services obviously 🙄

SpinneyHill · 15/04/2019 00:26

Its midnight where was this admission made?

GrandTheftWalrus · 15/04/2019 00:27

No shes alone and goes to the pub about 11pm when they are sleeping.

I will phone tomorrow and see what happens.

She is a good mum but does this about once a month

OP posts:
Dramaqueen2019 · 15/04/2019 00:28

Ring now! Is the baby alone right now? Anything could happen!

Aquamarine1029 · 15/04/2019 00:29

You are as bad as she is if you don't report this. This is fucking unspeakable.

Dramaqueen2019 · 15/04/2019 00:29

Imagine if there was a fire

MarthasGinYard · 15/04/2019 00:29

'She is a good mum'

No

She's a disgrace and needs reporting

Aquamarine1029 · 15/04/2019 00:30

SHE IS NOT A GOOD MUM.

I can't possibly shout that loud enough.

Dramaqueen2019 · 15/04/2019 00:30

Ring the police, you have a duty towards this BABY!

ExhaustedGrinch · 15/04/2019 00:30

If the child is there alone right now whilst she is at the pub then I'd phone the police to gain access to her property and to ensure the child was okay. It's definitely not 'normal', it's dangerous and neglectful.

Imadehimlikethat · 15/04/2019 00:32

She isn't a good Mum OP.

Maybe she is the other days but she's putting her child's life at risk to go to the pub!

A "good mum" would NEVER leave her child alone and go to the pub.

That is absolutely disgraceful.

Alaria44 · 15/04/2019 00:36

That's disgraceful and horrendous. She is NOT a good mother.

That is neglect. Phone SS and police if it is occurring right now.
