. . . in saying there are two lines on this test?!

IVF cycle 4, on day 4 after a beautiful hatching blast transfer so early to be testing. I have an achey lower back, sore boobs, twinges and cramps but I know from bitter experience it's probably just the progesterone talking.

But . . . look! Two lines, right? Faint, but there? I'm so hopeful this is it, this is our baby!

Congrats, OP! Flowers

I'll try to keep this simple but those tests work by having patches of antibodies which either capture the target molecule (for the test line) or an indicator (for the control line). The indicator also binds to the test molecule, but at a different location. (If you want to look it up, this is called a sandwich ELISA).

There will always be a faint line because of the difference in structure. If you can afford it, run some water across another test, there will still be a faint line visible.

I'm not saying that you're definitely not pregnant but, if I saw that in the lab (different field, I'm not professionally qualified to read pregnancy tests specifically) I wouldn't regard it as a positive result (though our tests also have positive and negative controls).

Apologies, I just saw the other images posted later, those are definitely positive. Congratulations!

Prequelle · 15/04/2019 20:41

Glad that it wasn't just 'false hope' that people were claiming. just because their eyes or phone was a bit off everyone else must then be lying Hmm

So happy for you OP

originallyfromLA · 15/04/2019 20:46

Huge congrats OP. You do realise that you're going to have to document your whole pregnancy here now? We're invested!

carly2803 · 15/04/2019 20:48
