Was quite shocked to see this. Will this be a test case? Mumsnet is such a tame well run site compared to the comments I see in the online press. Is the writing on the wall for free (cough) speech or is it a culling of trolling. Personally I think that something needs to be done, some folk have no filter or are just plain nasty.

Right, so -

Not biology
Not a GRC
Not surgery
Not self-ID
Not long hair

How many questions do we have left?

LimeKiwi · 15/04/2019 17:38

@SleepingSloth There's a difference between 'can't explain' and 'can't be arsed' to explain to people who are set in their views. I really don't care what you think

Exactly

sackrifice · 15/04/2019 17:40

As I said, you've been on other threads where people have engaged properly even after lots of wheedling and pleases so I'm not sure why you're pretending otherwise?

A bit like how our definition of woman differs, I suspect my definition of 'engaged'* is different to yours.

My definition of woman: adult, human, female
Your definition, anyone who says they are except some people who are scum

**
My definition of engaging: clearly explaining their points and reasoning with points being expanded on and referenced where possible
Your definition: wailing that anyway can be anything and why are you so mean and now I have a cake to ice so can't be bothered to keep going over it all again.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 15/04/2019 17:42

You don't appear to have applied any intellectual rigour to this issue, LimeKiwi. It's evidenced by your inability to explain yourself or even clarify your position. You've taken a stance without ever thinking it through.

If definitions of woman that include women and TW but not men and TM have been provided on lots of other threads I'm astonished that they seem to have entirely slipped your memory, given that such definition is foundational to your claim.

I get the impression that you have decided it's kind to accept TW as women (unless they're rapists) and have taken this position without any thought as to the effects of your stance on actual women.

Not only is there no meat on the bones of your argument, there are no bones to start with.

LimeKiwi · 15/04/2019 17:42

My definition of woman: adult, human, female

Exactly! Which I said way back at the beginning of the thread. You (general you) won't accept anything else which is why you get people refusing to answer - faux polite "ah go on we're listening's" for pages, somebody bites, or thinks it's a sincere ask, and then the ROFL's start up.
For the lurkers.
Accept transwomen or don't. T'is up to you.

aprarl · 15/04/2019 17:43

It's the weirdest thread this, with someone posting over and over again that they're not going to say something.

Lime, is it just that you don't actually give a shit and don't want to dig too deep into the whole thing? Because just say that then!

But don't then tell women who do dig deeper that they're the Bad Guys. There are real safeguarding issues here that a lot of actual transsexuals online are worried about too.

To go back to the original OP, I would like police to take some things online more seriously, but I'd love it if they could dedicate their resources at (say) child abuse and the paedophile network over "a person who doesn't want people to know their former names and crimes".

TalkinPaece · 15/04/2019 17:43

Pencils
Blimey, so if Self Cert does come in, scammers and crooks and the like just need to change gender every year or so and they will have an open goal to rip people off while 'losing' their past each time
and it would be a crime to 'deadname' them or call them out as being 'trans'
excellent
I think I shall self identify as a cat for a while Grin

LimeKiwi · 15/04/2019 17:44

and now I have a cake to ice so can't be bothered to keep going over it all again

Again, I have never mentioned cakes anywhere. Or crocheting or knitting like mentioned upthread.
Others. Not me.

aprarl · 15/04/2019 17:44

In the long run of course, why should they change gender? Or even names?

If the precedent is set that you can say "I'm not that person anymore", that surely has some legal impact?

sackrifice · 15/04/2019 17:47

Others. Not me

Yes, the same others that you keep saying have 'engaged'. Keep up.

PencilsInSpace · 15/04/2019 17:50

That's about the size of it, Talkin. Of course it's possible in many situations already. It's very rare to have to provide a birth certificate as ID. It's far more usual to provide a passport or drivers licence.

LimeKiwi · 15/04/2019 17:52

It's the weirdest thread this, with someone posting over and over again that they're not going to say something

Because you keep getting asked the same bloody question over and over even if you say that nobody really wants an answer. If you leave the thread you've apparently gone to make a cake or do some crochet Confused

GirlDownUnder · 15/04/2019 17:54

Thanks Pencils it's sobering stuff, this change who you are on your own say so.

It's infuriating that because of the deadname rules, and MN talk guide lines, I had to censor my post about Michelle Lewin, the trans woman paedophile.

LimeKiwi · 15/04/2019 17:56

Yes, the same others that you keep saying have 'engaged'. Keep up

No, not the same others at all. I said others have engaged before, not specifically them but I think you know that?

GirlDownUnder · 15/04/2019 17:57

@LimeKiwi you said Accept transwomen or don't. T'is up to you.

OK so you're very sure what you're happy to accept as a trans woman, so a better question for you - what is a trans woman, and you've ruled out:

"Not biology
Not a GRC
Not surgery
Not self-ID
Not long hair"

So that might help you.

Ereshkigal · 15/04/2019 17:58

Along with the avocado, I am popping a coriander, lemon, mint and chilli dressing on, as that is left over from the Dosas this weekend.

And using up the dosa batter with an onion and coriander dosa fry up for the salad to sit alongside.

Sounds amazing. I have a packet of dosa batter in the cupboard.

GirlDownUnder · 15/04/2019 18:00

Or Lime maybe you can remember the user names that have had a go at saying what a woman is, or what a trans woman is, and I can go look for myself.
I'm assuming you'll remember as you're very clear on what they've stated, and how it's been poo poo'd with laughing emojis and such.

LimeKiwi · 15/04/2019 18:02

Just seen a really nice recipe for dosa batter bhajis

LimeKiwi · 15/04/2019 18:07

I'm assuming you'll remember as you're very clear on what they've stated

I do remember very clearly, yes and as I said there's at least one pretending they want to know

LimeKiwi · 15/04/2019 18:10

Sorry, just re-read and you meant the usernames of those who've had a go at trying.
Yes, I do. As I said, no point really linking though is it if you'll (general you) never listen to anything else without ridicule.
You want a name? I seem to remember RatRolyPoly having several goes for one.

SmileEachDay · 15/04/2019 18:12

Ooh is that me Lime?

You don’t have a clue what you’re on about. I’m not remotely interested in your mythical opinion any more - your silly game playing is dull.

I’m only here for the recipes now.

GirlDownUnder · 15/04/2019 18:13

Lime thank you for the name - I will research.

And maybe you missed my question before that asking what you define a trans woman as.
In your opinion, how do you define a trans woman having already ruled out

"Not biology
Not a GRC
Not surgery
Not self-ID
Not long hair"

So that might help you.

LimeKiwi · 15/04/2019 18:14

You don’t have a clue what you’re on about

Actually I do. For the lurkers. Like someone else said. They can make their own mind up.

Ereshkigal · 15/04/2019 18:16

You want a name? I seem to remember RatRolyPoly having several goes for one.

Yes. It wasn't very good.

GirlDownUnder · 15/04/2019 18:16

Lime I was a lurker for a long time, I've just started really posting on this subject, and so far you've not really help me understand your position.

So.... can you answer my above?
