Was quite shocked to see this. Will this be a test case? Mumsnet is such a tame well run site compared to the comments I see in the online press. Is the writing on the wall for free (cough) speech or is it a culling of trolling. Personally I think that something needs to be done, some folk have no filter or are just plain nasty.

You refuse to engage in anything like meaningful discussion

Because as I said, there's no point. I've seen the other threads. You (general you) will not, or cannot accept anything apart from woman - biology woman adult human female.
Even evident on this thread when a couple of posters confirmed as much

Stop it. Stop blaming your lack of answer on other people.

Ereshkigal · 15/04/2019 14:20

I think you've got the measure of LimeKiwi there, Smile. It's absolutely pointless to engage with that poster.

LimeKiwi · 15/04/2019 14:21

People have answered on the other threads though only ever woman - biology accepted though

ARDuke · 15/04/2019 14:22

I've never liked the idea of your real life identity being tied to your online names. There are plenty of stories where people get harassed in real life because of opinions they posted online and I think that's wrong.

SmileEachDay · 15/04/2019 14:23

Once more: you are blaming your lack of answer on others. Disingenuous.

S1naidSucks · 15/04/2019 14:27

As I said, no other answer is accepted

I can’t think why. 🤔

Absolutepowercorrupts · 15/04/2019 14:27

Lime Kiwi
One thing I will never accept is the big fat Lie, you know the one that says Human beings can change sex.
They can't, ever turn into the opposite sex. It's physically impossible.

BarbieJellyBabyBrain · 15/04/2019 14:58

As I said, no other answer is accepted

Why would anyone 'accept' an argument that is, in their opinion, totally unsatisfactory? What a strange stance to take.

TalkinPaece · 15/04/2019 15:00

Why would Trans people be so aggressively defensive of who and what they were before they decided to make a change?

Jan Morris certainly is not
nor are some other well known individuals who have changed their gender

it sounds like picking an argument for its own sake
rather than trying to get on with their lives

GirlDownUnder · 15/04/2019 15:11

LimeKiwi

So if we are to be comfortable accepting TWAW, but not through self ID, I'm assuming you mean that a man becomes a woman, for all purposes baring biological, is that correct?

GirlDownUnder · 15/04/2019 15:12

Sorry, to be clear

I'm assuming you mean that a man becomes a woman, for all purposes baring biological, when they have their GRC is that correct?

GirlDownUnder · 15/04/2019 15:23

Thanks Pencils for
Once you have a GRC it's unlawful for anyone to reveal your trans status without your permission if they came by that information in a professional capacity.

So if self ID does come in, and I get a new birth certificate (with my new name and my sex marker changed), and other supporting docs, then for legal purposes I'd have changed my sex, and unless I volunteered this information, how would you know of any previous aliases as my paper history would be complete for my 'new' life, surely?
(Does the above affect NI numbers too?)

SlightAggrandising · 15/04/2019 15:31

This worries me. I run a big sports competition and the NGB require a transwomen to have testosterone tests if they want to compete against women (I fundamentally disagree with this but... rules) How am I supposed to approach someone who I suspect is a trans woman? Surely they can just deny it?

sackrifice · 15/04/2019 15:58

So i think what Lime is saying is that women are:
Women
Men with a GRC showing that they have had some sort of meaningful 'change' [whatever that is but hey ho, that's the law].

And that's it.

So:
L Madigan - man
K White - man
India Willoughby [who stated they haven't got a GRc, but has had surgery] - man.

Is that right?

TalkinPaece · 15/04/2019 16:06

I checked this morning.
On the doors of the changing rooms at my gym it says "female" and "male"
And long may it stay that way.

LimeKiwi · 15/04/2019 16:09

Just for clarification, I have never mentioned LM or IW, anywhere on this thread. As you're asking, I have no problem at all accepting them as transwomen.

GirlDownUnder · 15/04/2019 16:09

Who knows sackrifice - I've asked a similar question, and just waiting.....

Be good to know tho Smile

sackrifice · 15/04/2019 16:10

So you do believe in Self ID then.

At least we are getting somewhere. It seems every man except one rapist is acceptable as 'transwomen'.

GirlDownUnder · 15/04/2019 16:11

Sorry Lime* cross posted.

I asked a similar question, and think I have it right...
*

LimeKiwi · 15/04/2019 16:14

If transwomen are just going about their business, I don't have any problem with that.
The two you mentioned - why would I not accept them as transwomen?
You can't tar all with the actions of a minority. It wouldn't wash in any other situation or minority doing that

sackrifice · 15/04/2019 16:16

It is not about tarring anyone with the actions of a minority.

Can you explain why you think we have sex segregated services in the first place?

GirlDownUnder · 15/04/2019 16:16

Oh, umm ok so Lime I don't have it right, cos I see you've replied to sackrifice and the two she's mentioned don't have a GRC, so they are the same as Karen, so Karen is a woman...!?
