Was quite shocked to see this. Will this be a test case? Mumsnet is such a tame well run site compared to the comments I see in the online press. Is the writing on the wall for free (cough) speech or is it a culling of trolling. Personally I think that something needs to be done, some folk have no filter or are just plain nasty.

Nope, it's just that if it's not woman = biology only, or the old fave woman adult human female, you (general you) stick your fingers in your ears.

Biology is a bitch, innit?

Smotheroffive · 14/04/2019 17:47

Has anyone defined hate speech and what is constituting homophobia?

I've not seen it.

I have however seen masses of mra stuff aimed at women trying to support women.

I have heard of the majority of stuff thats been called 'homophobia' and reported to police being laughed out of town.

I have to say I have never heard such grotesque and upsetting and scarey threats and insults at those that have come from mras and tras.

I have never heard a women say some of the vile stuff that has been aimed at them.

Things like DIAF, the appalling list is endless. That definitely needs shutting down, and I am certainly all for that, but I've never seen that stuff posted by women here.

FuzzyLilac · 14/04/2019 17:49

So you are not allowed to say people are lying?

If I said I was the queen people would rightly call me a liar. Would that be worthy of a deletion?
Or is it only when you say males are lying when they call themselves women?

I must remember you cannot point out the untrustworthy behaviour of men. Women must stay silent.

rightreckoner · 14/04/2019 17:51

Love the fact that kiwi doesn’t actually give the alternative definition of woman. And says that the debate goes round in circles unless we agree that woman = adult human female. Correct kiwi. Because that is the definition. At least in the part of the world where words mean things. Feel free to give your better definition that isnt circular. And that works for the purpose of having words mean things.

LimeKiwi · 14/04/2019 17:52

Women must stay silent

Nobody's saying that, I know I'm not. Transphobia whether it's coming from a man or a woman isn't OK, nothing to do with "women be silent."

werideatdawn · 14/04/2019 17:53

Facts relating to questions that just get ignored on here.
For example:
Is it transphobic to believe that you cannot change biological sex, even if you respect a trans person's wishes to use pronouns of their choice etc.?

Do trans rights activists believe trans women should be able to access women's only spaces, without exception?

When I look into this question I just find explanations such as "Transwomen are vulnerable too." Which doesn't really answer the question.

I do not have agenda. I have never posted in the feminist board. I haven't had an opinion either way really, it hasn't been a discussion I have had to have. When people refuse to answer questions like that "normal" every day people feel there is something to hide, something to be afraid of. I'm yet to find anyone to answer my questions without a) Throwing unrelated statistics at me or b) Answering with another question.

LimeKiwi · 14/04/2019 17:54

Love the fact that kiwi doesn’t actually give the alternative definition of woman.

I could say I love the fact that people are ignoring that people are saying people HAVE on other threads but have realised it is utterly pointless as there's only one answer you'll ever accept - woman equals adult human female.
You (general you) don't listen to anything else.

FuzzyLilac · 14/04/2019 17:55

Nobody's saying that, I know I'm not. Transphobia whether it's coming from a man or a woman isn't OK, nothing to do with "women be silent."

Ok so me saying humans cannot change sex and TW are not women...is this transphobic?

TalkinPaece · 14/04/2019 17:55

I've asked several really clear linear questions on this thread about

  • safeguarding
  • defamation
  • DBS checks for school workers
  • the rights of women
and people like Lime are studiously avoiding answering them which is a shame because the answers would stop the thread being so repetitive
LimeKiwi · 14/04/2019 17:56

There you go, point in hand. That's the level of response you get, and shows that's only ever the acceptable answer to some so what's the point in doing it all over and over again....

sackrifice · 14/04/2019 17:58

This might help. I know it IS MN, but apart from Kiwi Farms, all other no-compelled speech is highly regulated or deleted at source.

SmileEachDay · 14/04/2019 17:58

Lime

If woman == biology then what is the definition?

I’m listening.

sackrifice · 14/04/2019 17:59

As I have said, many times - feel free to provide a definition of your own, whenever you like.

Because until someone provides one, the only definition of Woman IS adult, human, female.

Is it defamation to state the original name of a trans activist?
yes or no?

sackrifice · 14/04/2019 18:01

I could say I love the fact that people are ignoring that people are saying people HAVE on other threads but have realised it is utterly pointless as there's only one answer you'll ever accept - woman equals adult human female.

Please feel free to post a link to that definition, a screen shot or even retype it - bearing in mind that a definition of a thing cannot include the thing you are defining as a circular definition is not a definition.

LimeKiwi · 14/04/2019 18:04

As I have said, many times - feel free to provide a definition of your own, whenever you like

Yes, and your name is one that's been on lots of other trans threads, so you know full well that people have engaged in the past, so not sure why you're pretending otherwise?

LimeKiwi · 14/04/2019 18:05

bearing in mind that a definition of a thing cannot include the thing you are defining as a circular definition is not a definition.

Come again?

sackrifice · 14/04/2019 18:06

Nobody has ever provided a definition of woman that doesn't include the word 'woman' that I can remember.

Link me to it, that'll learn me.

PencilsInSpace · 14/04/2019 18:06

For the lurkers?

I often post for the lurkers.

TalkinPaece · 14/04/2019 18:07

I could not give a stuff about the definition stuff.
THat is navel gazing

This thread was started about a defamation case
@LimeKiwi
Is it defamation to state the birth name of a trans activist?
Yes or no

PlasmaRain · 14/04/2019 18:07

Then don’t do it over and over again that’s the point, answer the questions you generally ignore or counter with other questions.

Yes, to many it comes down to biology, Limekiwi in that people cannot change sex no matter what they identify as. It’s about sex. Sex and gender are not the same. You never address the reasons women’s spaces and rights were separated in the first place and why it’s important to biological women that they remain separated. It’s not about feelings, it’s about biological differences between the two sexes, differences that can’t be overcome no matter how much some may want them to be.

LimeKiwi · 14/04/2019 18:09

Nobody has ever provided a definition of woman that doesn't include the word 'woman' that I can remember.

Yes, because as I have said, you're only happy with one answer, you won't see what others post, so what is the point when you can't or won't see it?
Even if I did link, you'd refuse to accept anything that isn't your "right" answer.

LimeKiwi · 14/04/2019 18:10

I could not give a stuff about the definition stuff. THat is navel gazing

Neither could I, but it doesn't stop people repeatedly asking "define woman" does it

SmileEachDay · 14/04/2019 18:11

*bearing in mind that a definition of a thing cannot include the thing you are defining as a circular definition is not a definition.

Come again?

So the definition of woman can’t include the word woman:

Eg: woman=anyone who identifies as a woman.

It doesn’t work as a definition.
