Neighbours wind chimes

I love sitting in my garden listening to the birds and "white noise" but my neighbour has put up wind chimes both tinkling ones and on that sounds like horsed hooves! I suffer from migraine and high pitched noises affect me. I am almost dreading the warmer nights when I need my bedroom window open. My neighbour is not an easy lady to speak to. Help!

Thought this was me but mine have been up years.

Just ask nicely if they'll take them down.

Katinkka · 10/04/2019 13:38

I feel your pain. My neighbours had them and I did ask them to take them down. They did but then some other neighbours put them up. God I hate them so much. It is so bloody selfish to inflict such a racket on other people.

PotterHead1985 · 10/04/2019 13:40

Are you my neighbour!?! Noticed recently that a neighbour has put some up. Both the tinkly version and some that sound like cow bells. Driving me bonkers.

Thesuzle · 10/04/2019 13:41

Wind chimes
Trampolines
Yappy dogs
Smelly bins parked too near your own windows.... i hate living in towns

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 10/04/2019 13:41

Oh I love windchimes!

endofthelinefinally · 10/04/2019 13:42

What is the point of wind chimes?

TiIIy · 10/04/2019 13:45

Hate wind chimes. I sellotaped my old neighbours ones together when they went on holiday, they never realised!

LorelaiRoryEmily · 10/04/2019 13:47

@Tilly I love that you did that!!

RatherBeRiding · 10/04/2019 13:47

I love windchimes too - but I also love the idea of sneaking out with sellotape when neighbour isn't in!

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 10/04/2019 13:49

@endofthelinefinally - they make a lovely sound as they move in the wind!

I admit I'm not keen on the big clonking ones, but the "proper" ones can be lovely.

Grin this is brilliant.

NameChangeJustBecauseICan · 10/04/2019 13:52

Tinkly ones can be a little irritating but larger ones with a deep resonance can be very soothing.

Urgh2019 · 10/04/2019 13:55

I worked with someone who taped 2 long sticks to a pair of scissors and cut his neighbours down in the middle of the night.
He said after the 2nd time they didn’t bother to put them back up Grin

Tinkerbell1956 · 10/04/2019 13:55

Thesuzle, are we related? Lol!

Grin at sellotape

My parents neighbour has 8 windchimes in their garden. Drives me mental when we visit. My mum did try and talk to them but they were rude and refused to engage with her. I did suggest chopping the middle bit off in the middle of the night but my parents are too nice to do this.

gairytoes · 10/04/2019 14:00

Nothing nicer than the wooden ones doing their thing on a stormy night.

FizzyGreenWater · 10/04/2019 14:06

I like them too - but I honestly wouldn't hesitate to 'disappear' any that belonged to a neighbour who was not approachable on the subject. They really do penetrate and I reckon you take our chances putting something like that out in the garden. Not everyone will like them!

Nice to see so much approval of trespass and vandalism! If they dislike something innocuous in your garden I assume that they have carte blanche to enter your property and adjust it to their liking!
Personally I would have bought the noisiest wind chimes possible and hang them from a chain.

My neighbour once complained because I hung old CDs from a tree and when the sun caught them she didn't like the flashing, from 75m away!

TheQueef · 10/04/2019 14:31

I had two for when Ddog went blind.
I'd grown to like them but worried they are intrusive.

HerGrapeness · 10/04/2019 14:33

My DP hates windchimes. His previous neighbour bought some once so he got up in the middle of the night, buried them and denied all knowledge of what had happened to them. You may wish to do the same.

Chocolateisfab · 10/04/2019 14:37

I am on the ook out for a particularly annoying set...
Maybe post a pic op??

PregnantSea · 10/04/2019 15:45

I quite like windchimes. I used to have some. But they were soft bamboo ones so not too loud, and the house we were in at the time was spaced quite far apart from our neighbours so I doubt they could hear them anyway. I could hear their dog though, which lived outside and barked for hours on end before sunrise every single day without fail... That was a very irritating noise.

FuriousCheekyFucker · 10/04/2019 15:52

Why do you hang old CDs from a tree? Do you usually display random media rubbish in your garden? Old video tapes on the garage wall? Knackered floppy discs in the rose bushes? Fucked records in the rockery? Confused
