To wonder why people buy clear dog poo bags

I mean really...should they even exist?? Why why would you buy a clear one where you can see all the poo inside considering you usually have to walk some distance before you get to a bin?! The amount of people I see daily walking round with see through bags full of shit is ridiculous! Buy black ones!!!

Nettles are arguably one of the best wildlife plants there are..
Certain butterfly species only lay their eggs in them.
Their flowers attract pollinating insects.
They are also edible and rich in iron and make nice teas and soups so nettles growing is no bad thing.

I’m fairly sure carnivorous animal waste is not compostable and I also always use value nappy bags for my dog’s waste, never black because they are massively cheaper and scented.

That's a nice opener post, calling other posters weird and superior

Don't you think that's a little weird and superior of you, woofer?

HaroldsSocalledBluetits · 02/04/2019 20:42

Not from the states, no. The environmental lobby over there though has woken up to the problem to a greater extent than people in the UK due to the sheer scale of the problem given population size and therefore sheer numbers of household pets. But it is beginning to be recognised as an issue here also. We should all be trying to reduce what we send to landfill. But you can't just leave pet waste on the ground given the number of pets we have here. It's not just "individual droppings" but millions of "individual droppings" every day that are being introduced into the environment as a result of the human activity of keeping a pet.

Smotheroffive · 02/04/2019 20:42

And the link for paper bags, does anyone have?

windysowindy · 02/04/2019 20:43

I wish they bought the neon ones so they would be less tempted to hang it on a bush 😠

What do you mean "Opener post"? I'm just saying what I believe. There are so many weird dog poo posters on MN. Dont bag it, dont flick it, dont put it in someone else's bin.....

I have suggested a dicky bag. Bag it, put it in a hands free bag, take it home, put it in your own bin and nobody can whinge. Whats your problem??

Smotheroffive · 02/04/2019 20:52

Calling people names. It's not my problem its yours Grin

That was your opener... Pp weird and superior!

Cryalot2 · 02/04/2019 20:52

Gosh does it really matter? I only wish that's all I had to worry about .
That said I buy usually from Poundland and and have got ones free with various things ( non totally clear)
As long as people clear up does it matter?

Smotheroffive · 02/04/2019 20:54

Evidently with a world drownig in plastic.....mmm..possibly it might matter quite a lot!! Every single bag you add to that pile.

Where's the paper bags link then?

Smotheroffive · 02/04/2019 20:55

You can't just throw your ddog poo into your household rubbish! Shock.

How irresponsible is that!

BeakyPlinder · 02/04/2019 20:55

I always get black dog poo bags but I've read several top tips that say don't bother buying dog poo bags just use cheaper nappy sacks....but honestly then I think you can get 150 black biodegradable black bags from Poundland that how can it possibly save you that much money unless you have 100 dogs ! But then i am also just glad that people pick it up

WendyWoofer · 02/04/2019 20:57

What do you suggest people do with their doo poo then? Hang it from trees?

Palominoo · 02/04/2019 21:06

The Council advise that the dog poo that I pick up from garden and put in black poo bags is to be disposed of in my twice weekly non recycled black bag.

They also advise that the cage droppings of rabbits, hamsters and Guinea pigs are also disposed of in the same way.

Celebelly · 02/04/2019 21:24
  • You can't just throw your ddog poo into your household rubbish! . How irresponsible is that!*

This is literally what our council tells us to do.

FourHigh · 02/04/2019 21:26

People hang them in trees if they're going on a circular route and there's no bin, so I order to not carry it around for an hour they hang and pick it up on way back and then put in bin (usually near car park) I don't do this but my dad does.
I do buy green dog bags that are biodegradable, but if I've run out or don't have any to hand I will use a nappy sack, I don't care what colour it is!

chandylier · 02/04/2019 21:37

Where on earth do you think you dispose of it then?!

EngagedAgain · 02/04/2019 21:54

Sorry I am laughing at this because it reminded me of those see through macs and bags. The bag would be the worst thing wouldn't it. Anyway I digress. Course it is better not to see the poo but as pp's have said the others are much cheaper. I suppose 2 a day is used, thats alot over a year (I don't have a dog). But OP, maybe just don't look!

Spanielmadness · 02/04/2019 22:01

I found out the other day the decomposing bag thing is rubbish.

Yes, the bags will decompose, but only if left in direct sunlight and 50 degree heat. If thrown in with the rubbish they take as long as normal plastic to break down.

It’s simply a cynical marketing ploy to encourage people to buy that bag rather than other brands.

Binglebong · 02/04/2019 22:28

Black plastic cannot go into recycling so should never be used.

Seriously, who is recycling doggy bags?! Pretty sure even if they were recycled the dog poo inside would count as contamination!

Smotheroffive · 02/04/2019 23:12

I dont care what scanky things rank councils recommend, no-brainer, doh!

WHO regs dictate that kind of waste not go in bins.

chandylier · 02/04/2019 23:15

Smother- where do you suggest it goes?

Smotheroffive · 02/04/2019 23:27

chand ummm....have you been reading the thread...

What do you suggest?

chandylier · 02/04/2019 23:28

I’m asking you. I have no idea where you are suggesting it should go.
The only place for it to go is in with the rubbish which goes to landfill

Smotheroffive · 02/04/2019 23:29

Rtft

chandylier · 02/04/2019 23:30

I have thank you
