To be upset that I've gone into labour a week before my planned c section, and the hospital are telling me not to come in?

Just that really!
Having contractions since yesterday morning. Early stage labour still, but they are getting more painful each time.
I called L&D, explained my situation and why I'm having a c section this time (3 day labour with my son, failure to progress past 3cm, and 11months age difference between them both)
BUT they still told me to wait?! She said i don't sound in enough pain to come in?!
Thats 1) because I'm calling inbetween contractions and 2) probably because I'm not that far along yet.

I just do not understand why i have to go through this pain when a c section has been agreed?
Sorry i know I'm ranting a bit but i just don't understand their thinking and no matter what way i worded the question i still go told to wait :(

Any advice? AIBU to be frustrated?!

Thanks for reading

I lied!
They wheeled me through, but there's an emergency that has to go before me so....looks like we all have to wait to see her!
I'm still only 1cm even with very regular contractions...they keep wanting to check xxx

Definitely will post pics :)

This experience is already so different to last time, so chilled out and all the staff have been nice with lots of time for me.
The contractions are getting more painful though! I hope we go in soon.

Exciting times.
I hope you get to go in soon and meet your DD.
That exact labour happened to me.
Even after being induces twice!
Good luck.

Good luck OP!

@Dryfebruary Totally agree with this. I also found the exact opposite true for me. 1st labour was made 1000 times more stressful by spending as long as possible at home (which was a 25 min drive from the hospital) then having to endure said car journey at 8cm plus all the faffing with parking and getting up to the ward, inc. sitting in a waiting room for a while because they hear ‘first baby’ and assume you actually didn’t listen to advice to stay at home. That interruption in the advance stages of labour was horrible, what’s the point of being a ‘cavewoman’ and nesting when you know you’re going to have to get sorted and leave at some point.

2nd labour I arrived at 4cm and it was wonderful to know I was exactly where I’d be for the birth. I could relax and it was so much less stressful.

Oh I love a live action story! Wishing you the best OP. I know from experience that a calm planned c section as opposed to an emergency situation is so different so I hope you feel at peace with what is happening and best wishes to you.

Good luck

DobbyTheHouseElk · 02/04/2019 15:35

A friend who is a doula said it’s not always good to stay at home. They should listen to the mother more. She was there for a birth which went from 1cm - 10cm in one contraction. Hopeless if you have a long journey as I did.

Hoping all goes well.

Oh I am so sorry you've been bumped for now fingers crossed that you'll have your little girl in your arms soon.

When I had my first she was an emergency and I bumped another poor lady having an elective. I did apologise the next day but my baby was crashing. She was really lovely about it. and perhaps thought I was a little unhinged for apologising in the first place Grin
