Another Goldie lover here. Poppy's our third Goldie. When we lose her we will be heading for retirement so have decided to get a rescue Golden Retriever

I grew up with border collies. Still love the breed but having worked with dogs for 30 years my favourite breeds are pointers (lovely dogs and not very common these days), greyhounds, cavalaiers and labradors, specifically black labs. I do love Staffies too, oh and setters. Nope sorry can't narrow it down to one breed, just love dogs Grin.

PinkPupZ · 03/04/2019 08:35

Ahh thank you Alice Smile

HarrysOwl · 03/04/2019 08:52

@Grumpelstilskin that's a brilliant story! That mental image will cheer me up all day Grin

Greyhounds are just so addictive. And unique. I didn't get it until we started fostering retired Greyhounds (to get them used to homes). Now I'm smitten.

BloodsportForAll · 03/04/2019 09:08

Old rescue mongrels. He's 12-14, they weren't sure. Had him a month and he's the best dog I've ever had. Part chihuahua, part Yorkie

Even if I didn’t naturally click with Labradors, they would still be my favourites. My dream is to have one of every colour.

WiggleButt · 03/04/2019 09:34

Rostif finally another Aussie lover!! I was feeling very lonely Grin

FineFanks · 03/04/2019 09:52

We have a ruby cav too, she is just the sweetest and most lovely thing. Total lap dog though, always has to be in contact with us.

Dogs are the best!

Ella1980 · 03/04/2019 10:33

@Diddleysquat Finally found someone with an Irish Terrier! Yay! Had my elderly rescue for four years now. She's amazing despite being told they're not a breed for a first-time owner like myself. Not true! We don't think she's a purebreed but nobody can figure out what other breed she might be crossed with.

She is fab with the kids but very naughty with taking food. I think this could be because she spent so long in kennels though. She is also not good with other dogs really but again due to being a rescue and not having been socialised as a young dog.

Hazeintheclouds · 03/04/2019 10:37

Collie.

fairydustandpixies · 03/04/2019 10:52

Staffies! Especially my old, stinky rescue one - but not so much when he sneaks into my bed...

Diddleysquat · 03/04/2019 13:48

Ella1980 they are very much a dog that you find if you are lucky. They then move in and take charge but in return make you laugh pretty much everyday.
Mine would have been a perfect first dog, she is kind and gentle and endlessly sweet. She is a dream to train (if she can see the point in what you are asking her to do) she is utterly unreactive and always a clown.
If you own one though be prepared to be stopped everywhere you go, everyone loves them!

Hearthside · 03/04/2019 20:20

Springer Spaniel mine is loving and loyal and Border Collie mine will talk back to you Grin and our lovely lab .

workshyfop · 03/04/2019 20:37

Staffies have completely won my heart. I wouldn’t have any other breed now, they are so wonderful.
