to think loo paper is what it's called

AIBU to think asking a 5 year old to say toilet tissue is a horrible genteelism?

It's loo paper, and you flush it down a loo.

Also, has anyone else noticed how dusty it is?

Is the summer kitchen open air, Soy?

MillyMollyMandie · 03/04/2019 10:48

I have 2 kitchens and an upstairs alcove that’s been fitted out as a functioning pantry with a sink and fridge etc so anyone staying can have something substantial to eat and drink anytime they like.

Two kitchens are normal where I live.

clairemcnam · 03/04/2019 13:55

Seriously anyone who judges someone else for saying toilet or loo, really is not worth knowing.

SoyDora · 03/04/2019 14:32

It’s semi open air TheGrey1houndSpeaks. It has 3 walls and a roof, but is open fronted.

exWifebeginsat40 · 03/04/2019 20:09

that’s a good point about the ‘cooker’. we have an Aga in the rear kitchen - i’ll ask the housekeeper what she calls it.

(shit tickets though - i’m having that)

oh, and for those who have been vulgar enough to talk about mortgages. don’t be so common. i’m not mortgage-free - i’m on benefits and spunking your income tax on leather sofas and a great big telly.

Megan2018 · 03/04/2019 20:25

We don’t have a cooker-we have a range. Big Rangemaster thing with 6 burners, grill, 2 ovens and warming drawer. I suppose some might call that a cooker? But its aways been the range to us.

Old house had an aga and a separate oven and hob, we turned the aga off in summer as too hot in the house. That’s pretty normal in cottages! Just the one kitchen though!

We still have loos, but they have toilet roll in them. Jury out on how common this makes us. Although according to my boss as I have a horse and a double belfast sink this by default makes us “posh” Grin (definitely not).

exWifebeginsat40 · 03/04/2019 20:29

horse-ownership only renders you posh if your kitchen is filthy. like, sticky and muddy and greasy and grim.

otherwise? you just have a horse.

I’ve got one of those... but we still call it the cooker!

TheGrey1houndSpeaks · 03/04/2019 20:36

Having horses doesn’t make you remotely posh. All the tinkers have them.

Megan2018 · 03/04/2019 20:38

Lol @exWifebeginsat40
I don’t clean and we have 3 cats and very free range hens that come in as they please so it does get pretty grim. There are currently mouse remains on it as the cats have been busy (vom). But we have a weekly cleaner so the filth is kept down. So can’t be posh-phew!

Megan2018 · 03/04/2019 20:39

@TheGrey1houndSpeaks
Tinkers have cobs. They are not horses! Wink

mollpop · 03/04/2019 20:41

Bog roll or bum fodder

TheGrey1houndSpeaks · 03/04/2019 20:43

That level of squalor does actually sound quite upper class, Megan Grin.

Topseyt · 03/04/2019 20:46

Bog roll here too. We are very classy.

Good point!

clairemcnam · 03/04/2019 20:55

Come on most people who have horses in England are posh. Different in Ireland.

TheGrey1houndSpeaks · 03/04/2019 20:58

Different in Ireland?

clairemcnam · 03/04/2019 21:01

In Ireland you have working class young men with horses grazing on public land.
Generally horse owners in England either own land their horse grazes on, or stable their horses. That is not cheap.

Confused Confused Confused

BringMeTea · 03/04/2019 21:22

Forget her kitchen and bathroom, you should see Cherry's bedroom.

justforthis6473 · 03/04/2019 21:23

Toilet tissue/paper

Susanna30 · 03/04/2019 21:28

Toilet roll

SassyBadger · 03/04/2019 21:30

Very Parisian in style I believe, BringMeTea!

DilliDingDillyDong · 03/04/2019 21:32

Loo roll, bog roll, toilet tissue, shitter paper, The Sun.

All the same.

candlefloozy · 03/04/2019 21:37

I call it toilet roll. Yet I had a two year old tell me it was big roll the other day.
