“Proof or it didn’t happen!”

MIL did someone really horrible (lied to someone about me and DD so she would receive something we were going to be given).

It’s the last straw and I have blocked her number because I refuse to let her get away with this without consequences.

FIL rang, I answered (I didn’t recognise his number, he’s never rung me before) and asked why I was being horrible to MIL! I told him what she had done and he said “Proof, or it didn’t happen!”

I’m not going to “prove” anything. It would mean involving the person to whom MIL lied and putting her on the spot.

He doesn’t have to believe me but to try and demand proof or DD and I are liars is twatty, right?

I saw the friend who had originally offered us the equipment and bit the bullet and asked her advice about buying one. A little passive aggressive of me but I know little about the hobby and her late husband was an expert and she knows quite a bit too.

She queried why MIL had the given item if we were still doing it and I said I didn’t know, she’d just decided my daughter and I wouldn’t actually use it.

Friend wasn’t happy.

She said that MIL had also said that I had no one to collect it (DH away) so it would have been in her garden for ages and as she wanted to get rid of it (she’s selling up) FIL would collect it. As if MIL was doing her a favour! Shock

Anyway, it turns out there are some more bits and pieces in the shed that we can have and I’ve been given the name of the place to buy the big stuff.

I’m glad I had the opportunity to set the record straight in the end. Nothing will come of it for MIL though. DH is home at Easter for a month, I bet MIL won’t have even set up her hive by then and she’ll miss the warm whether. Plus it needs mending, I didn’t know that. Just a bit. I bet she or FIL won’t get around to it.

@Scoresonthedoors you have just outed the item / hobby!

Scoresonthedoors · 06/04/2019 18:15

Oh yes so I did!

Oh well, readers may be able to appreciate why I’m so annoyed, it’s an expensive business starting off and MIL took away the most expensive bit!

But mostly it was a kind offer from a lady who thought her husband’s equipment was going to a home in the local area where it would have been used and appreciated. I think MIL just wants it as an ornament you know. Sad

Horrid woman. Some people are so self centred.
