Is it just me ?
I'm getting my colour done on a very rare day off . I've been here 2 hours and I'm bored.
I really don't like going to the hairdressers just so many other things I could be doing , I think it's because I'm always so busy I'm not used to just sitting .
Obviously I will be happy when my hairs all done but until then Confused
Anyway else feel the same ?

Home colour?

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 29/03/2019 16:37

HATE IT....it's just a means to an ends, but takes nearly 4hrs and costs way too much money. I would relish sitting down with a coffee, a mag and some peace for half an hour but other than that a complete waste of time. I would love to find a hairdresser who could come to mine in the evening, least i could do the washing up or ironing whilst my highlights take.

dementedpixie · 29/03/2019 16:37

I take my kindle or go on my phone or just people watch

PatchworkGirl · 29/03/2019 16:38

I hate it. Rarely go for this reason. Just sitting there making small talk - yuk!

Waveysnail · 29/03/2019 16:38

Nope. Not a fan. I have to have cut and colour done separately as cant cope with being in that long. Plus they make me anxious with all the chatty catty women

kaytee87 · 29/03/2019 16:40

My cut and highlights only takes 90 minutes and I get a nice cup of tea. Go every 6 weeks, just see it as 'essential maintenance' Grin

MamaLovesMango · 29/03/2019 16:47

YANBU I hate it too and i don’t get mine coloured!

The inane small talk.
The wandering eyes of stylists and other clients.
The boredom.
I’m due a trip soon and I’m dreading it.

I find it really, really dull. Try to avoid it as much as possible and it's no better when I have someone coming to my house. I don't really get pampering either - a really good massage - yes. But all the other stuff seems really pointless. People who have to look at me regularly may disagree!

TixieLix · 29/03/2019 16:51

I'd rather go to the dentist than the hairdresser! I've got quite fine, chin length hair in a bob. My stylist always seems to talk me out of what I've asked for, then uses the hot irons to flatten it to within an inch of its life, so I always hate how it looks when I leave. The cut is usually ok, but the finish is not how I like it. I've tried telling her so many times but she always does it the same way. It's really time for me to try somewhere else, but I hate the experience so much, it puts me off trying somewhere I don't know.

lovelygreenjumper · 29/03/2019 16:52

YANBU

I hate:
The time it takes
The small talk/lack of small talk (never sure which is most awkward)
The discussion about what shampoo/products I use (always feels like a test)
The fact that I need to leave my glasses off so I have to endure most of this effectively half blind

If someone could invent a machine that cut hair at home without it looking bonkers I'd buy one.

dementedpixie · 29/03/2019 16:53

I really like my hairdresser, she's lovely.

user68901 · 29/03/2019 16:53

I totally get this. I now have a lady who comes to the house. The whole process is so much quicker!! (and cheaper)
Not a fan of spa days either.

MadameAnchou · 29/03/2019 16:54

I hate it so much I don't go.

bumblingbovine49 · 29/03/2019 16:55

I absolutely love it. I am particularly happy if I am.having highlights that take 3 hrs I read or chat to the hairdresser or look at my phone or people watch
I can do my favourite activities without feeling guilty about wasted time. I always look forward to going Wink

dementedpixie · 29/03/2019 16:56

I like watching others get their hair cut too and the techniques they use. I'm nosy though

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 29/03/2019 16:58

My hairdresser I like well enough. I don't particularly enjoy going, but go every 3 weeks to get my grey roots done. Yes, I've tried doing it at home, and I manage to make it patchy as I cant see the back of my head! I've had home visits, but then I have to hang my head over the sink, and get left with wet towels and hair to hoover up, so going out is the lesser of the evils.

DontCallMeCharlotte · 29/03/2019 16:58

I don't have my hair coloured (allergic) so it's just a cut for me. Takes less than an hour for a cut and blow dry every couple of months. I love it.

I think I'd feel differently if I had to endure the colouring though.

funnylittlefloozie · 29/03/2019 16:59

I dont really get this. If you hate the hairdressers, dont go! There are loads of excellent mobile and home-based hairdressers around, get one of those to come to you. Why would anyone force themselves to do something totally optional and then moan about it?

Mrsjayy · 29/03/2019 17:00

I hate getting my hair washed all that rubbing and they always seem to pull it it gives me the heebie geebies but I like the end result and my hairdressers is an old lady fashioned hairdresser so there is nobody poncing about its nice and relaxed.

Mrsjayy · 29/03/2019 17:02

Im never 2 hours i get a colour and cut but i got every 6/7 weeks so its just my roots that need doing.a

feska5 · 29/03/2019 17:05

Absolutely loathe it. Don’t see it as a relaxing thing to do at all.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 29/03/2019 17:07

I don't like having my head touched . One major advantage when my hair was short was going in with freshly washed locks and they did a dry cut/spray.
But it needed done every 5 weeks.

Now I'm growing it , I can stretch out the time interval but it takes longer and needs washed before they will cit it.
I don't have head massage done , just : discuss the style , wash/condition/wrap in a towel then straight to the scissors Grin

Princess1066 · 29/03/2019 17:12

Another hater here - I do my own - chin length bob - put hair into low ponytail - cut across & it's done Wink
Colouring is trickier - trial & error but mostly works OK Grin

GarthFunkel · 29/03/2019 17:12

Not a fan. I had a nasty experience once where I went in for a quick cut and blow dry and ended up with it just being me and the owner in the salon after hours with him using a razor to cut my long hair while he tried to get my professional opinion on something not in my field and I tried to get him to hurry the fuck up as I was two hours late to put the kids to bed. It was awful. And since then I've gone round every other place in town. I just want to get a quick cut.
I don't need small talk or upselling of products. I don't want to be stuck listening to shit music or someone's life story. The barber's is the best for getting it over and done with but only the lady barber will cut my stunning and brave lady hair and she's not always there. The best salon i found has a ridiculous high turnover of staff so you ever get the same person twice, which was great when every time "my" stylist left I got 20% off my new person but then everyone left so I presume every customer was getting a discount so they stopped that.

sueelleker · 29/03/2019 17:12

I have mine trimmed (shortish style) and coloured every 6 weeks. It takes about 75 minutes, and I just read magazines.
I used to hate going, but I trust my current stylist; so I'm not nervously perched on the edge of the seat. And I love the scalp massage you get while they're applying conditioner.
