Is it just me ?
I'm getting my colour done on a very rare day off . I've been here 2 hours and I'm bored.
I really don't like going to the hairdressers just so many other things I could be doing , I think it's because I'm always so busy I'm not used to just sitting .
Obviously I will be happy when my hairs all done but until then Confused
Anyway else feel the same ?

My hairdressers are great there’s always funny stuff getting discussed it usually flys over, maybes you just have boring hairdressers with no craic

LakieLady · 08/02/2020 14:41

My hairdresser is also someone I know socially, so it's a good chance to catch up on all the gossip.

Someone who lives along the road also works there, but not o the days I go, so I get to hear all the gossip about them, too!

AlexaAmbidextra · 08/02/2020 14:46

I would find it boring but I go to my hairdresser’s house and she knows absolutely all the local drama and scandal. It’s very entertaining and the time just flies. 😂

LynetteScavo · 08/02/2020 15:18

I just surf the net and drink coffee.

It's not exactly a hardship. There are other things I'd rather be getting on with or spending my money on (£120 for a full head of highlights) but I like to have nice hair. I'm not blessed to have nice hair growing out of my head, so have to pay for it.

belay · 08/02/2020 15:22

Agreed op. Sat in a chair for two hours bored

ginghamstarfish · 08/02/2020 15:25

Hate it, and stopped going years ago. Learned to do my own, and it's better than I ever had done at a salon.

idontlike789 · 08/02/2020 15:26

Since my last post I did find a really nice mobile hairdresser but the only problem is I live on the worlds worse street for parking and she drives the most ridiculous big car so no where to park her car . She hinted that would come on a week day next time .

I love it. Go every 5 weeks for colour. Take a book. Plus I love my hairdresser

TheVanguardSix · 08/02/2020 15:31

I just hate seeing myself in the mirror. I always look like shit, no matter what. I don't drink. I don't smoke. I sleep well. And I look like I do none of these things. I am just naturally 'wrecked' looking. I can't face the harsh lights and hall of mirrors! And you know the minute you leave they're like, "Ugh. What a wreck! Her skin's awful!"

Yesterdayforgotten · 08/02/2020 15:33

Going to the hairdressers is literally a vacation for me! I have small children Grin

bonzo77 · 08/02/2020 15:43

I haaaate every single last bit of it. Unbearable. So I go 2-3x a year. My hair does look a bit shit though.

Biber · 08/02/2020 16:35

I hate going to the hairdressers and the whole experience. Plus once they've styled it or coloured it you have to keep going back to maintain the style. So, my hair is greying and usually long and in a bun. There's some youtube demonstrations on cutting your hair yourself by putting it in a ponytail and pulling it forwards then cutting. This works for trims and the occasional shorter bob. This works for me, but may not be everyone's choice.

PollyPelargonium52 · 14/02/2020 05:10

I dye my own hair so that has always cut down the time and faff I need to spend at the hair salons. Let alone the cost of it. I have dyed my own hair for 26 years. I prefer hairdressers who don't talk at all and just get on with the job itself.

Downunderduchess · 14/02/2020 05:20

Yep, loathe it. Only go when I really really need to.

Juliette20 · 14/02/2020 05:25

I like going for 45 minutes for a cut and blow dry, but not 2-3 hours for a colour/highlights. So I do my colour myself.

TheGlitterFairy · 14/02/2020 07:20

Hate it also. Takes too long and is a silly price. Like my hairdresser and she does a good job of it though never blow dries it to look right. Always have to wash and redry when I get home.

PineappleDanish · 14/02/2020 07:23

YANBU. It's exceptionally tedious. No I don;t want a coffee, and I don't want to read a 6 month old copy of "Hello" or some crappy fashion magazine.

Luckily I ditched all that crap and I have a lovely woman who comes to the house to do my hair and a friend's hair . And she's a lot cheaper too, £45 for a cut, colour and blowdry.

Bezalelle · 14/02/2020 07:36

I hate it! The small talk...

"Are you going out tonight?"

"No. I'm hoping to be in bed by 8:30 eating mini eggs."

bluetongue · 14/02/2020 07:45

I hate it too.

Being short the part where I have to lean back and have my hair washed hurts my neck.

Until now I could get away with going months between cuts but now it’s greying at the temples (and no, I can’t ‘rock’ the grey) I’ll have to go more often Sad

InOtterNews · 14/02/2020 10:39

I've only been to a hairdresser once in about 20 years. I find I get complete sensory overload when I go to a salon - the noise, the heat, the lighting reflecting back at you in the mirror (having to look at myself in the mirror!). Throw in the inane expected chit-chat and it all adds up to a thoroughly unpleasant experience.

I have a hairdresser who comes to my house - we generally like the same things. OK I wash my own hair but it's not a chore at all. He also has a non-heat type hairdryer (don't ask me how it works it just does).
