To feel desperately sorry for Theresa May

On a human level I just feel so sorry for her - she looks like she's aged so much and is apparently becoming quite unwell because of the immense stress she's under. To be continually ripped to shreds by the despicable ERG and so many others in the House of Commons is just awful - I don't know how she does it. A few times I've seen her looking like she's on the verge of tears. I wonder if she goes home every night and just sobs - I know I would.

It's sad as I think she would have made a decent PM if Brexit didn't exist.

The only reason I feel sorry for her is because what else is there to feel for someone who clearly lacks any empathy, kindness, or respect for anything other than the Tory party? She wouldn't feel sorry for you if you were an immigrant who was told they could stay in the UK forever, or a disabled person who needed state money to survive on, or someone living on the streets with no police presence to make that any safer. I feel sorry for her because she's rotten to the core.

DGRossetti · 28/03/2019 15:26

Boris now saying that Theresa's deal is dead and she should stand down now apparently.

And if she doesn't what's he gonna do ?

HateIsNotGood · 28/03/2019 15:26

I really think that if I was her, then by now I would have stood up in the House of Commons, shouted 'fine then, do you know what, FUCK YOU ALL' and stormed out!

And me too - whilst dramatically throwing a sheaf of paper in the air in my wake...

Inliverpool1 · 28/03/2019 15:27

She’s been stitched up like a kipper but equally she didn’t have to go along with it so I wish she’d just fuck off now

HellAndDegenerates · 28/03/2019 15:28

Nah fuck that.

I feel sorry for the people's lives that she has authorised the destruction of.

She is the leader of the conservatives, she has led this country into deprivation, food and use, homelessness and child poverty.

Sympathy for her? No, not even a grain of sands worth.

Alsohuman · 28/03/2019 15:28

That blue coat definitely didn’t come from Matalan, it’s got £££££ written all over it. Definitely a comfort blanket.

As to who could take over? I fancy Rudd if we had to have any of them but who in their right mind would want it?

AutumnCrow · 28/03/2019 15:28

That blue coat is a Herno from Italy and £825. Apparently there's loads left in stock if you fancy one. Allegedly.

Inliverpool1 · 28/03/2019 15:29

The Theresa effect not working then 😂

Limensoda · 28/03/2019 15:31

I don't feel sorry for her at all. Not one jot.

LaurieMarlow · 28/03/2019 15:37

Boris the cunt had his chance to deliver and shape brexit and he was as effective as a chocolate teapot . I hope he doesn’t get another one.

higgyhog · 28/03/2019 15:37

I had a look at Herno jackets, some of them are quite nice, though it would have to be the dreg end of the sale before I could even contemplate one. I think she chose the least lovey in the whole range.

Samcro · 28/03/2019 15:57

yabu
she chose the job.

Hazeintheclouds · 28/03/2019 15:58

Gove is the most cerebral of those lining up to replace her. It would have to be him.

orangesquashh · 28/03/2019 16:01

I wonder if Philip's secretly relieved for his wife. It must be awful having to watch your partner being torn to shreds and criticised on an hourly basis.

Alsohuman · 28/03/2019 16:06

I reckon he’s the main reason she didn’t can it long ago. He was apparently the instigator of the alliance with the DUP - which has now come back to bite her.

DGRossetti · 28/03/2019 16:06

Gove is the most cerebral of those lining up to replace her. It would have to be him.

If he's any intelligence whatsoever, he'll be a long long way from the next Tory Leader vacancy. It will finish whoever takes it on.

That's why May has survived this long - including the no confidence vote last year. It's got nothing to do with her being popular or because people want to see her Brexit go through (a little aside her to notice how personal the media are making it Hmm "Theresa Mays deal" ... not "The governments deal" ...). It's got everything to do with the fact that when she leaves, the next leader will have to carry the can for how shit Brexit turns out to be. And if people think things are bad now, just wait till they take over.

To be fair to Philip, he has his constituents to represent too.

Oh, hang on, that's a crock too. Since when did the PMs spouse start dictating UK government policy ? Since fucking never should be the answer.

Tomtontom · 28/03/2019 16:13

This is why I'll never feel sorry for May. Hundreds of thousands living in poverty, including thousands of children in absolute poverty, all due to measures orchestrated by her government and under her leadership.

And people are so swept up by Brexit that they're missing this going on, and getting so much worse (as it will continue to do outside the EU and with continued austerity.)

teyem · 28/03/2019 16:14

All of the possible stand-ins will be worse than May.

We need a functioning opposition, right now. Do you think if I get hold of a fucking enormous floodlight I could fashion a kind of Bat signal across the night's sky with a silhouette of David Milliband's head?

dragoning · 28/03/2019 16:16

Rather her than Boris Johnson any day

I don't like her politics but feel sorry for her anyway. The ones who created this mess melted away. Now they're all back ready to go in for the kill.

DGRossetti · 28/03/2019 16:19

And people are so swept up by Brexit that they're missing this going on, and getting so much worse (as it will continue to do outside the EU and with continued austerity.

My MP - possibly not uncoincidentally - had a constituency walk round last week and published their experience noting that Brexit was on no ones priorities ahead of: knife crime, cuts due to austerity affecting all sorts of local areas, NHS, education, potholes ... whatever happens as the outcome of Brexit, it's a 100% certainty it will only affect those things negatively.

The80sweregreat · 28/03/2019 16:20

Why are people on here obsessed with David Milliband? i doubt he would coming running back if they did get rid of JC somehow, those days are gone.
Labour need new blood, a credible leader - more centre ground would suit me, but i know that on mumsnet thats not what most people would want or like and i can see why, but it might appeal to floating voters/ labour leaving voters?
I dont hate Jeremy Corbyn, but his just the wrong man for this job and should be heaps ahead in the polls - but they are not.

teyem · 28/03/2019 16:20

Please, if everyone else can have unicorns and rainbows, I'm getting my share in.

Hazeintheclouds · 28/03/2019 16:26

Labour are unelectable with Corbyn at the helm. That choice has backfired spectacularly. I do not support them but it would be healthier to have a credible Opposition.

pepperpot99 · 28/03/2019 16:30

DGRossetti spot on 100% with all your posts. I think I love you, Dante Wink.
