To feel desperately sorry for Theresa May

On a human level I just feel so sorry for her - she looks like she's aged so much and is apparently becoming quite unwell because of the immense stress she's under. To be continually ripped to shreds by the despicable ERG and so many others in the House of Commons is just awful - I don't know how she does it. A few times I've seen her looking like she's on the verge of tears. I wonder if she goes home every night and just sobs - I know I would.

It's sad as I think she would have made a decent PM if Brexit didn't exist.

Nope, nada sympathy for this woman or her party colleagues. The tory party has led us to where we are today. Brexit is the result of ideological austerity for the poor and socialism for the rich.
I think Tusk is right - there is a special place in hell for this lot. They have put party politics above country and most of us are going to be fucked over if Brexit goes through. And she presides over it. She chose to preside over it. She herself told her party that they were seen as the nasty party - so she does have some sort of insight.
She will go down as the worst pm in history, followed marginally by Cameron. Worthy accolades for the pair of them.

Bluntness100 · 28/03/2019 12:41

How is she not being bullied out of her job. ? What part of I'll vote for your deal if you leave isn't bullying. And to stand there day after day and be told by a bunch of men, lining up, in a televised house of comments, to media reporters, to tell you how incapable you are, and hurl abuse at you? How's that not bullying?

It doesn't matter that she's the pm and not some office worker. It doesn't matter how strong she it, The fact of the matter is she's a human being being bullied and abused constantly. It's not about her, it's about the behaviour of her bullies, that's what's wrong.

quietcontentment · 28/03/2019 12:42

I don't feel sorry for her at all, PM is not a job for the faint hearted, you need to have the constitution of an ox and very broad shoulders to carry all that responsibility.

Of course she has aged and looks knackered, but to be honest, most of the population wouldn't want her job or even have the skills to even attempt a job on that scale. It will clearly take its toll on you and none of them will take on the role as PM if they couldnt take the kind of flack she has been getting or the previous PMs had in the past. It comes with the territory.

katseyes7 · 28/03/2019 12:42

She's brought everything on herself. l couldn't think of a better example of 'hoist by her own petard', quite frankly.
lf l was going to feel sorry for anyone, it would be the people whose lives her government have ruined. Certainly not her.

TheFrontHoleIsConnectedToThe · 28/03/2019 12:43

Honestly, I have no idea how she functions. She's got to have some brass cojones.

Calamapo · 28/03/2019 12:43

Everyone is criticizing her but no one, absolutely no one, wants to be in her shoes

And?

DGRossetti · 28/03/2019 12:44

How is she not being bullied out of her job. ? What part of I'll vote for your deal if you leave isn't bullying.

A meaningless offer anyway. If she doesn't go, there's no way to force her until December. Also if her deal doesn't pass, she stays.

TheFrontHoleIsConnectedToThe · 28/03/2019 12:44

Everyone is criticizing her but no one, absolutely no one, wants to be in her shoes

Exactly. They can kick her out and take over for the easy bit but she's at least had the nerve to do the job. More than I can say for Weasel Mcweasel face Cameron.

Theworldisfullofgs · 28/03/2019 12:45

As a person I can feel a bit of empathy for her distress. However....and this is a big however.....windrush, hostile environment....shes done nothing about grenfell...school funding is shocking....

She called people who dont agree with her saboteurs, traitors...and now she's resorting to blackmail...she doesn't keep her word.

Low competence, low warmth, low insight.

The reason she's in a terrible place is pretty much of her own making. So I have sympathy for her distress....but I very doubt shed have sympathy for mine or yours

DGRossetti · 28/03/2019 12:45

Incidentally, even if she were the best PM ever, I'd have no sympathy for the dreadful things she did as Home Secretary.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 28/03/2019 12:46

I don’t feel sorry for her at all. I do feel sorry for people who are already struggling and won’t be able to afford the 20% price increases.

She’s made a career out of making people’s lives a misery and treating them as less than human. Fuck her!

Both of these comments sum up my opinion.

Genderwitched · 28/03/2019 12:47

Yes I feel sympathy for her and hope that her health isn't being damaged.

RhubarbTea · 28/03/2019 12:47

I feel some sympathy for her on a human level, she looks so drained and stressed.

But I fucking hate what she has done.

formerbabe · 28/03/2019 12:47

Whatever you think of her, she's certainly proved herself resilient.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 28/03/2019 12:49

I don't feel the slightest bit sorry for her. She knew the job she was taking on and she knew that it was going to be a poisoned chalice thanks to Brexit. She then carried on putting personal ambition and party politics ahead of actually doing her job. Her current predicament is entirely of her own making.

In addition she is a stubborn woman and not in a good way.
She has been judged by her peers; the Leaders of 27 EU countries and they found her out of her depth; lacking in empathy and basically not up to the job.

I can’t believe her reward will be money and a comfortable lifestyle even when she walks away from this mess. She is a despicable Human being.

LaurieMarlow · 28/03/2019 12:50

The reason she's in a terrible place is pretty much of her own making

Yeah, this.

The cards dealt to her were awful, but she made them actively worse by decisions she took (calling a GE, getting into bed with DUP, triggering A50 with no plan, the red lines).

She has totally ballsed this up.

Mia1415 · 28/03/2019 12:51

I don’t agree with many of her views, but I feel desperately sorry for her.

Yes she has made mistakes, but no one predicted this absolute mess and she must feel absolutely stuck.

Tomtontom · 28/03/2019 12:51

Whatever you think of her, she's certainly proved herself resilient.

What we're seeing now is blind stubbornness, not resilience. Part of resilience is admitting when you've got something wrong, making changes to put it right, not carrying on with the same old bollocks.

orangesquashh · 28/03/2019 12:51

I told DH that I feel sorry for her and he thinks I'm being completely ridiculous. At least I can now tell him that I'm not the only one!

higgyhog · 28/03/2019 12:51

She is the same age as me and although she has always looked a bit older she i can see she had aged considerably in the last few months. She is using that blue coat as a comfort blanket!
I really can't see why politicians cannot be more dignified and polite to each other. if I was her I'd be off work with stres.

GCAcademic · 28/03/2019 12:52

Her husband has reportedly made money out of this crisis of her making.

This is interesting to hear, as I've been wondering if that's the case. Do you have a source for that?

Tomtontom · 28/03/2019 12:53

What part of I'll vote for your deal if you leave isn't bullying

It's her that is saying vote for my deal and I'll leave. So is she being bullied, or is she blackmailing and manipulating people into her corner?

Theworldisfullofgs · 28/03/2019 12:54

Whatever you think of her, she's certainly proved herself resilient.

Stubborn and resilient aren't the same thing. Lacks intelligence.

Basecamp65 · 28/03/2019 12:54

Surely during her time at the Home Office she presided over a justice system which tells thousands of people daily that have are responsible for their own actions and decisions and have to take the consequences of them

She made the decision to become an MP and multiple decisions to progress up the ranks and to become PM - and in doing so has actively participated in delivering policies that have caused more harm and misery than the majority of criminals put together have

Feel sorry for her?????

Not in the slightest - she has bought it all on herself and made a huge amount of money out it.

Theworldisfullofgs · 28/03/2019 12:55

blackmailing and manipulating people into her corner?

This.
