Had a very quick google as I had not heard any reference to this, here's an article (there are other articles).

Does make you wonder Hmm

My post was in response to Hateisnotgood post.

Hushabyelullaby · 28/03/2019 16:41

splasho.com/petitions/index.php?petition=241584 current numbers as they happen

Iamslave · 28/03/2019 16:49

I don't understand the comments about older people who voted leave.

Older people are not one blamanche mass with joined brains. .. every older person I know is unique like we all our.

The one thing they have in common is experience. Experience of life pre EU. Experience of politics before and after 74.

Many posts just show the contempt and disrespect many people feel towards the elderly. .. how ironic one day if we crash out without a deal ... rumble on...never really make a go of it and in 40 years there's a vote to rejoin.... and all you then oldies vote for it

Trekkingbeyond · 28/03/2019 16:49

I think the petition will reach 6 million but not 7, anyone who was ever going to sign it will have done so by now - few stragglers coming in over the weeks I guess. Still amazing and incredible to watch .

neveradullmoment99 · 28/03/2019 16:59

It is incredible but the numbers are not enough in themselves to justify revoking article 50. It would need 16 million or so.

neveradullmoment99 · 28/03/2019 17:00

I say this sadly. I wish more people would sign it!

bellinisurge · 28/03/2019 17:04

My late Mum's last vote in her mid 80s was for Remain. Please don't assume all seniors voted Leave.

StealthPolarBear · 28/03/2019 17:05

So there's definitely going to be another wa vote. Tomorrow. And no doubt now she's bribed the corrupt lot they'll vote for it. And the fact it isn't substantially different will be glossed over. Fuckers.

Jaxhog · 28/03/2019 17:06

Why are ‘the remainers’ talked about as if those that voted remain originally are a tiny minority renegade group? Wasn’t the referendum 48-52%?

It's worse than that. Only 38% of eligble voters voted for Brexit. But it seems that's enough. Crazy.

YouBumder · 28/03/2019 17:07

My late Mum's last vote in her mid 80s was for Remain. Please don't assume all seniors voted Leave.

Same for my late grandad, he was 92 and gutted at the result.

YouBumder · 28/03/2019 17:10

I don't understand the comments about older people who voted leave.

Maybe that they’ve voted for something that even many of it’s supporters say is going to cause severe hardship for decades and they’ll be long dead while the rest of us suffer the effects? Not saying I agree, but that’s where it comes from.

YemenRoadYemen · 28/03/2019 17:10

Jacob Rees-Mogg and Boris Johnson cannot - surely - after all this, actually think either of them have a shot at PM-ship.....?

Please someone tell me it isn't so.

Jaxhog · 28/03/2019 17:16

BTW, I"m an older person, as is my mum (89). We BOTH voted to remain. I have much younger friends who voted to Leave.

You can't make assumptions.

StealthPolarBear · 28/03/2019 17:19

OK so they've taken a load of stuff out which is why it's different. This is bad. Although rather that than no deal

Alsohuman · 28/03/2019 17:21

What have they taken out? I still can’t see how this can get through without the DUP and they won’t vote for the backstop.

Parker231 · 28/03/2019 17:25

DUP have denied that they are in discussions with the government regarding an agreement.

StealthPolarBear · 28/03/2019 17:26

here
Sorry couldn't paste more than one paragraph

Alsohuman · 28/03/2019 17:28

Thanks @Stealth. Doesn’t get round her problem with the DUP though. She needs about 40 Labour votes without them, surely Corbyn will whip them to vote against?

Caztonette · 28/03/2019 17:30

Obviously not all seniors voted Leave, but two thirds did, whereas more than 70% of under 25s voted remain.

The closest correlation by demographic was on level of education (those with GCSEs or lower as their highest level of education voting strongly for Leave, and highly educated breaking strongly for Remain). Age is the next most significant signifier.

But of course, strong correlation is not the same as an absolute. There will be highly educated, relatively young voters that voted Leave and vice versa.

twofingerstoEverything · 28/03/2019 17:49

It's a shame the discussion - even on Mumsnet - has become so bad-tempered.

That's because there's so much at stake and everything - from the pre-referendum campaigning (particularly on the Leave side) to now - has shown what venal and corrupt 'leaders' we have. Of course we're bad-tempered.

Onlykidding · 28/03/2019 18:08

Adropof, I really admire you’re courage and I mean that sincerely. You’ve come on and actually tried to see it from the other point of view, even if you don’t agree.
All the comments I see on here about Leavers are full of vitriol, animosity and hatred.
And then they trot out the same old questions.
Give me good reasons for Leaving and then proceed to rip them to shreds just because there not their views.
If you notice, there’s virtually no leave people on here and as for most of them all being dead if these bunch of vipers had their way they probably would be.
They had the People’s March on Saturday. From what I heard it passed off peacefully with a carnival feel, which I’m glad of. Hoping the same consideration is given to the Leavers March tomorrow.
Getting ready for all them all to prove me right by ripping my opinion to shreds.

Onlykidding · 28/03/2019 18:09

your courage

lyralalala · 28/03/2019 18:09

So they’ll vote on part of the deal tomorrow. Clearly a change to get round the rules. Funny how that’s not undemocratic yet a second referendum apparently would be.

Any Tory MP who was vehemently against the deal who now votes for it surely has to be finished long term just as Cameron and May are? Not even the most ardent Tory could agree with changing your mind on such an issue to give yourself a chance at the big job
