River island sizing

Does anyone find that river island jeans come up small? Or is this me just hoping

I'm usually a size 12 and I ventured into river island for the first time to buy jeans. Tried on the mom jeans and I couldn't fasten them up.
I wondering if it's me that's gained a few pounds, or if they are small to size?
I've got a few different brands at home which are all 12s and no issue. Come you through some true to size shops at me? I find new look, very and m&s really good for jeans.

Please help before I go on an eternal crash diet.

River island sizing is absolutely tiny!

Dunno about jeans but some of there other products are a little on the small side, a dress and a playsuit thing I remember. Nothing compared to topshop though. I got down to seven stone 9lbs (size 8, 5ft 1) when I was on my diet last year, popped into the store thinking i'd treat myself to some new gladraggs, only to realise that the majority of their skirts and shorts - I wouldn't have been able to get one ass cheek into xD

Makes you feel rubbish doesn't it? Don't what's worse, this or vanity sizing

Gap jeans are much better than river island.

I’ve always found they come up big. I’m usually a 14 top but in RI I fit a 12.
Never bought jeans from there though.

I genuinely never have any issue between the fashion stores. I’m a 12 and am a 12 in Top Shop, Zara (or Medium), River Island etc. I go down to a 10-12 in M&S (but only really buy cami vests, pj bottoms and knickers in there). I’m 49, 5’8.

I find River Island sizes a bit random, had to size up 2 sizes for a particular top, then next time I assumed I'd need the same sized up size and it was huge. I try everything on now.

Its always worth trying a few of the same size as no two are ever cut or sewn the same.

I should have tried two pairs and seen if I noticed any difference. I won't lie, I'm quite pear shaped a size 10 up top sometimes an 8 and always a 12 on the lower half. I'm 5'6 and 10.7 stone so maybe I've gained a few

I think they are tight but they stretch quickly. I'm usually a 6, river island 6 jeans are so tight I can barely breathe the first time I wear them but after a few hours loosen up fine.

M and S sizes are huge though. I fit in size 8 there although am at least a 10 probably 12 elsewhere. Don't let it bother you just buy a 14 if that's what fits!

I think their sizing has definitely changed. I’m normally an 8 in their jeans, regardless of the style. Now I can’t fit into the size 8s at all. I normally try on 3/4 pairs to get the proper leg length etc but no 8s were suitable, so had to go up to size 10 instead. My weight has not changed since I last bought a pair.

I recently tried a pair on from there and they were my usual size, so I didn't find they come up small. Maybe that particular style is small made though

It wasn't just tight, couldn't even do the button up. Surprised I'm in that size how?

The thing I noticed when accompanying my wife shopping in the local River Island is that they have one of those fairground mirrors on the wall in the changing room that made even me look like an emaciated catwalk model.

Next had one too.

I picked up a top in George and it was two sizes smaller - wow they are into vanity sizing

Absolutely - I'm a "real" size 12 and buy an 8 in the likes of M&S or Next - wouldn't say M&S are representative of proper sizes at all. RI are more true to size.

My measurements are 34, 28 and 38. According to a size converter should be a 10 on top and 12 on bottom. Not sure how reliable that is!

Shame, GG20 I thought I was a 'real' 12 too

Mrs nometal's RI jeans are 6. On a par with her other jeans and trousers. Next and M&S aren't small enough, despite having the same size label.

She is 5'6" 8st 7lbs (ish). 24/25" waist. Also high muscle mass.
