… to want to ban fucking ‘clicky link’

Snuffalo · 21/03/2019 21:14

I’m sure you’ve all used the internet before. You may even be using it as you read this! You know how links work. The text in blue is meant to be the title or even a very short summary of the thing you’re linking. It’s like putting the coffee in a jar labelled ‘jar’ instead of ‘coffee’ and it makes you look extraordinarily, cringeworthily stupid.

Lovely stuff OP. Any more pearls of wisdom up there?

gamerchick · 21/03/2019 21:17

When I snarl unexpected like that the husband stands in the doorway and throws a bar of chocolate at me OP.

Isleepinahedgefund · 21/03/2019 21:17

..... and breathe.

MeowthThatsRight · 21/03/2019 21:18

You’re completely right. Everyone on here is a complete and utter tosses.

BertieBotts · 21/03/2019 21:19

It's because the forum never used to automatically convert URLs into links. You had to do a bit of code to get it to go "clicky".

That is all. Some have retained the habit.

AutumnCrow · 21/03/2019 21:22

Isn't it more like putting it in a jar labelled 'this jar of coffee has got coffee in it'?

MuddyMoose · 21/03/2019 21:24

Seems like someone likes your thread & made an equally bizarre thread ...

FuckertyBoo · 21/03/2019 21:24

I think I’d prefer it if coffee jars said “this jar has coffee in it”. Just ‘coffee’ is so abrupt and open to interpretation. It could even be a demand for coffee, like “COFFEE”.

MrsChollySawcutt · 21/03/2019 21:24

Someone needs a Snickers....

WTFIsAGleepglorp · 21/03/2019 21:25

And after you finished typing, did you snap and fart?

UterusUterusGhali · 21/03/2019 21:31

Some people don't link correctly first try so another kind person comes and makes a clicky link.

What's the problem with that?

StoneofDestiny · 21/03/2019 21:36

How do you make a link click? Or even, make a click link? Genuine question.

choosingchilli · 21/03/2019 21:40

I don't know how to make a link clicky or a clicky link or a linky click....

Clicky link

YANBU

You can ban "head tilt" and "tinkly fucking laugh" whilst you're at it.

Clicky link Makes me want to gouge my own eyes out almost as quickly as "picky tea" Angry

It's just so... twee. And prissy.

ChandelierSail · 21/03/2019 21:56

I'm probably being thick here but I'm not sure what you're annoyed at. Is it literally typing the words "click link" or is it posters who paste the URL rather than making a word the hyperlink? Is its the former YA probably not BU. The latter YA probably BU.

DanielRicciardosSmile · 21/03/2019 22:03

*clicky link - sorry my autocorrect objected to it, maybe it also finds it annoying.

Chouetted · 21/03/2019 22:05

I know what you mean, and while it would be helpful if someone who uses a screenreader could comment, my understanding has always been that it's terrible for screenreaders. Which we should all be thinking about, within reason.

DustyMaiden · 21/03/2019 22:08

Have you tried HRT I’ve heard it’s very good.
